Suspect Arrested, Two Guns Seized During Saturday Night Shooting Investigation - No Known Injuries

On Saturday, May 26, 2018, at 11:21 p.m., East Precinct officers responded to the area of Southeast 143rd Avenue and Southeast Division Street on the report that a suspect fired a gun into the air.

As officers responded to the area, a caller to 9-1-1 reported the suspect had fired the gun into the air while inside a red 1998 Dodge Dakota truck. The caller informed the emergency call-taker that after the suspect fired the gun, the suspect drove the truck to the Rollin' Wheels Mobile Home Park, located at 14222 Southeast Division Street. The caller reported the suspect had parked and was remaining at the Rollin' Wheels Mobile Home Park.

Officers arrived in the area and located the truck and suspect inside the truck. Arriving officers devised a plan to safely contact the reportedly armed suspect. Upon contacting the suspect, two firearms were located inside the vehicle and the suspect was taken into custody without incident. The firearms that were located and seized as evidence included a Browning 9 mm handgun and an AK47.

As officers continued the investigation, they located evidence of gunfire on Southeast Division Street. There were no reports of injury or property damage as a result of this incident.

The suspect has been identified as 28-year-old Emanuel Venegas-Vazquez. Venegas-Vazquez Was lodged at the Multnomah County jail on Domestic Violence Menacing, two counts of Menacing, Theft in the First Degree By Receiving, Unlawful Use of a Weapon and two counts of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.
