Deputies Respond to Serious Injury Crash East of Salem

This morning at 10:30 AM, deputies responded to a motor vehicle crash on Cordon Rd NE at 55th Ave NE. They found two vehicles, heavily damaged, and blocking the roadway.
The preliminary Investigation by deputies revealed a green Honda Accord, operated by a 17-year old Salem resident, was northbound on Cordon Rd and for unknown reasons crossed over the centerline and struck a white Chevrolet pickup traveling southbound operated by 79-Year old, Turner resident Don Etzel.
Etzel suffered minor injuries and was transported by ambulance to Salem Hospital for further evaluation.
The 17-year old female was transported by ambulance to Salem Hospital with serious injuries.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Marion County Fire Department and Marion County Public Works Department.
