JCSO to Host Drift Boat Patrol Training

WHITE CITY, Ore. – The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office will once again host the Oregon State Marine Board (OSMB) Drift Boat Operations Course. The 2018 class begins Monday, June 11, and concludes on Friday, June 15. More than 40 students and instructors from law enforcement agencies around the state will attend the week-long course.

Jackson County has hosted the annual training event for several years. The Rogue River provides an ideal environment for personnel to learn to operate non-motorized boats in patrol and rescue scenarios. Students will learn a variety of techniques for river rescue and personal safety/survival, all while learning to navigate through rapids and obstacles. Students will also learn about updates to state boating laws and safety resources.
