Bicyclist Critically Injured After Being Struck in Lane County

Oregon State Police - 07/30/18 

On Friday, July 27th, 2018 at about 7:10 PM the Oregon State Police responded to a motor vehicle collision involving a bicycle that occurred on McKenzie View Drive in an unincorporated area of Lane County.

This collision involved a 2009 Honda Civic operated by Tevah DONITH age 36, of Eugene.  DONITH was traveling westbound on McKenzie View Drive, overtook and impacted with a westbound bicyclist, Jeffery Allan SAKACSI, age 48 of Springfield, while negotiating a curve.  SAKACSI was thrown to the roadway and struck by a second vehicle which was a 2005 Chrysler Cruze operated by Megan BERRY, age 33, of Eugene.  SAKACSI was transported to Sacred Heart hospital at River Bend with life threatening injuries.  SAKACSI remains in serious condition.
The Oregon State Police was assisted by the Lane County Sheriff’s Office and Eugene Springfield Fire.   The investigation is ongoing and additional information will be released when appropriate.
