Hillsboro Firefighters Make Quick Work of Thursday Night House Fire

Hillsboro Fire and Rescue - 07/06/18

Hillsboro, OR - At 10:40 Thursday night Hillsboro Fire Department Station 5 was dispatched to a residential fire on the 1000 block of NE 21st Street.
Firefighters on Engine 5 and Engine 1 arrived to find a shed, fence, tree and the south side of the single story home on fire. The shed was fully involved, flames were half way up the tree and fire on the outside of the house had made its way into the attic space.
As crews quickly extinguished the exterior fire, additional arriving units focused their attention on the attic and searching the shed and house for possible occupants. They found both structures to be vacant.
A Hillsboro Fire Investigator is working to determine the cause of the fire. No damage estimate is available at this time.
Twenty Hillsboro Fire personnel responded to the fire. No firefighter injuries were reported.
With current dry conditions the Hillsboro Fire Department reminds everyone to properly dispose of smoking materials. This time of year dry vegetation and bark dust are extremely flammable a pose a major fire risk.
