Murder/Suicide Death Investigation

On Sunday, July 8th, 2018 at approximately 9:37 AM, the Grants Pass Department of Public Safety responded to 310 SE K St., for a reported gun shot victim. Police, along with GP Fire/Rescue and Paramedics from American Medical Response arrived within minutes of the emergency call. At the scene, police located an adult female and her 8 year-old son, both with gunshot wounds. Fire and medical personnel assisted police with a rapid transport of both patents to Three Rivers Medical Center. SE K St., between SE 8th and SE 9th streets were blocked off for several hours while detectives processed the scene. The female transported to the scene died shortly after arriving at TRMC. The 8 year old victim succumbed to his injury as he was being prepared for a transport to the Oregon Health Science University Hospital in Portland. Based on the evidence collected during the investigation, this manner is being investigated as a murder/suicide. Names of the deceased are being withheld until family relatives can be notified.
