Deceased subject found in Bear Creek Identified

On 072918 at about 1430 hours Medford Police officers were flagged down by a citizen advising there was, what appeared to be a deceased subject in Bear Creek just south of Barnett Rd.  Officers responded to the area and located a deceased subject in Bear Creek a short distance from the shoreline.  Medford Fire personnel responded and organized the recovery effort.  Medford Police and Jackson County detectives were on scene shortly after the body was discovered.  The gender and identity of the deceased subject is unknown at this time.  Medford Police detectives and the Jackson County Medical Examiner's Office are attempting to identify the deceased subject and notify next of kin.

UPDATE
The Medford Police and the Jackson County Medical Examiner's office are seeking the public's assistance with identifying the located deceased subject.
The subject is described as male, unknown race or age.  He was wearing a black "Raiders" t-shirt and blue shorts.  No socks or shoes.  He is believed to be 5'6" to 6' tall possibly having short brown hair.  We believe the male was in the creek for less than one week.

Update
Investigators contacted a female who advised her boyfriend, Bradley Lewis Spurgeon, had been missing since Monday, July 23rd, 2018, from a transient camp about 200 yards upstream from where the body was found. Forensic testing confirmed the deceased was Mr. Spurgeon, 49 years old. The manner and cause of death is still yet to be determined, however, no foul play is suspected. Next of kin have been notified.
