Fatal Motorcycle Crash on Deschutes Market Road

A preliminary investigation determined Kragness was riding a 2013 Harley Davidson motorcycle northbound on Deschutes Market Road, when he left the roadway for an unknown reason. The motorcycle and rider then struck a tree along the roadway shoulder. A skull cap style helmet was found at the scene.
On August 6, 2018, at approximately 6:10am, deputies with the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office responded to crash involving a motorcycle on Deschutes Market Road, south of Pioneer Loop. The reporting party found the rider of the motorcycle laying near the shoulder of the roadway, unresponsive.
The first deputy arrived within four minutes of being dispatched and began life-saving efforts until Bend Fire Department arrived at the scene. The male rider, 55 year old Robert B. Kragness of Bend, was pronounced deceased at the scene by emergency medical personnel.
