Fatal motorcycle crash SR 36 east of Mapleton (Lane County)

Oregon State Police - 08/06/18 

On Saturday, 08/04/2018 at approximately 9:34 PM, Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a motor vehicle collision involving a Black 2007 Honda CBR  motorcycle operated by BERNHARDT, Trevor R. age 36 of Mapleton and a Black 1998 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup operated by LEE, Joshua A. age 24 of Mapleton, on SR-36 at MP 3.3, east of Mapleton, OR. 

The investigation revealed the motorcycle was traveling eastbound on SR-36 and rear ended the eastbound truck as it was turning northbound onto North Fork Siuslaw Road.  

BERNHARDT sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased by medical personnel.  LEE was not injured. 

SR-36 was flagged by ODOT with one lane open for approximately three hours during the investigation.

OSP was assisted by Siuslaw Valley Fire and Rescue, Deadwood Creek Fire Service, Western Lane Ambulance and ODOT.
