Home Damaged by Fire in Forest Grove

Forest Grove Fire & Rescue - 08/06/18

This morning at 10:50am, firefighters were dispatched to a reported fire in a residence located at 3839 Pacific Avenue, this is the Rose Grove Mobile Home Community. It was reported by the occupant that sparks had come from a clothes dryer and it had started to smoke. Firefighters arrived minutes later and found a single wide mobile home with no indications of fire, but seconds later light smoke started to produce from the roofline and under the structure, and it progressively became more dark. When crews made entry into the structure they experienced high temperatures and found the fire coming from a bedroom, they were able to quickly extinguish the flames.
Once the flames were extinguished, crews worked on putting out hot spots in the structure as well as under it. Due to the high temperatures, firefighters took rest breaks more frequently than normal. This allowed them to re-hydrate and cool down from the 100 plus degree temperatures they encounter while wearing their gear. The temperature greatly increases when in a structure that is or has burned and isn't fully cooled down.
No civilians or firefighters were injured during the incident. The cause of the fire is still under investigation at this time but is not suspicious. The house and most of its contents appear to be a total lose. Forest Grove Fire & Rescue wants to remind everyone to have a working smoke alarm in their house, inside each bedroom, outside sleeping areas and on each floor is optimal.
Forest Grove Fire & Rescue was assisted on scene by Cornelius Fire Department, Hillsboro Fire & Rescue, Banks Fire District, Metro West Ambulance and American Red Cross.
