Traffic #ALERT: Major Crash Team Investigation Underway on SE Stark St - One Person Deceased

Portland Police Bureau - 08/05/18

On Sunday, August 5, 2018, at 5:23 p.m., East Precinct officers responded to the report of a single vehicle crash in the 11700 block of Southeast Stark Street.

Officers and medical personnel arrived and located a blue Ford Thunderbird that had collided with a pole. Emergency medical personnel found an adult male inside the vehicle. The man is believed to have been the driver and only occupant of the vehicle at the time of the crash. The driver of the vehicle, an adult male, was not responsive and emergency medical personnel transported him to an area hospital for treatment of his condition. After the man arrived at an area hospital medical personnel determined he was deceased.

Based on preliminary information, medical personnel believe the man may have died from a medical condition that occurred prior to the collision. A member of the Oregon State Medical Examiner's Office will perform an autopsy to determine the cause of death. The identity and cause of death of the man involved in this crash will be provided after an autopsy has been performed and the next of kin have been notified.

During this crash investigation westbound Southeast Stark Street will be closed from Southeast 119th Avenue to Southeast 115th Avenue. The closure is expected to remain in effect for the next three to four hours
