Two Vehicle Injury Crash at Bear Creek Rd and Ward Rd

Deschutes Co. Sheriff's Office - 08/03/18 

On 08/03/18 at approximately 1012 hours, Deputies with the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office along with the Bend Fire Department were dispatched to an injury motor vehicle crash at Bear Creek and Ward Road.

The accident occurred when vehicle number one driven by Hayes, was west bound on Ward Road and went through the stop sign.  Vehicle number two driven by Freeman who was North Bound on Bear Creek Road, slammed on his brakes upon seeing vehicle one enter the intersection.  Freeman was unable to avoid Hayes, and struck her vehicle on the driver’s side doors.

Freeman was transported to St. Charles Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.  Hayes had to be extricated from her vehicle, and was also transported to St. Charles Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

The intersection of Ward Road and Bear Creek Road was closed for approximately one hour while fire crews removed Hayes from her car, and the cars were towed from the scene.  Alcohol and speed are not considered factors in this crash.

This crash is still under investigation.
