On August 30, 2018, at 11:18 p.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies serving the City of Cornelius responded to a theft from a construction site in the area of N. 26th Ave. and N. Fremont St.

Since construction began at that site, deputies have responded to multiple calls of suspicious people trying to steal items.  Detectives attached a GPS tracker to a piece of construction equipment and placed it in the work site.

When the tool was stolen on August 30, deputies tracked it to a vehicle which they pulled over near NW Glencoe Rd. and NE Lenox St.  During the traffic stop, deputies recovered the stolen equipment and also found methamphetamine.  Deputies arrested the following people:
  • Steven Pesce, 25, of Beaverton – Theft in the Second Degree
  • Nicholas Conlon, 23, of Hillsboro – Theft in the Second Degree
  • Jason Cortez-De Jesus, 19, of Hillsboro – Theft in the Second Degree and Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine
WCSO continues to run a proactive anti-theft program with GPS-equipped items including bikes, packages, cars, and tools placed strategically throughout Washington County.
