DUII Crash Leads to Arrest

Deschutes Co. Sheriff's Office - 09/01/18

On August 31, 2018 at approximately 2220 hours, deputies with the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to an injury motor vehicle crash in the 56000 block of Venture Ln, Bend.  The initial information was a single vehicle had crashed after driving off South Century Drive just prior to the Venture intersection.  The report stated that after the vehicle left the roadway it rolled through trees and came to a rest in the parking lot of the Crossroads Station.

During the investigation, deputies developed probable cause to believe Hammermann was operating the vehicle at the time of the crash under the influence of an intoxicant.  Hammermann was subsequently arrested and lodged in the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office Adult Jail on the listed charges.  Hammermann was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was not injured.

Vehicle front seat passenger Sylvia Wasenius received non-life threating injuries as a result of the crash and was transported to St. Charles Medical Center in Bend by the Sunriver Fire Department.  Wasenius was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Sunriver Police Department, Sunriver Fire Department, and the La Pine Fire Department.
