Jackson Co. Sheriff's Office - 09/07/18

GOLD HILL, Ore. – A Gold Hill man is in jail Friday after reportedly assaulting a woman and then barricading himself in his home with two children.  Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) deputies arrested the man after a three-hour standoff.

On September 6, 2018, at 10:10 p.m., JCSO deputies responded to a home in the 1100-block of Fourth Avenue, Gold Hill, for a report of a domestic violence incident.  The female victim came outside to meet deputies.  She had injuries consistent with an assault.

The suspect, Cody Everett Banks, 25, refused to speak with deputies and barricaded himself inside the home with the couple’s two children.  Banks made statements regarding having a firearm.

The JCSO SWAT team responded to assist.  Deputies and SWAT members attempted to negotiate with Banks to exit the residence .  Banks refused to comply.

Deputies obtained a search warrant for the residence.  The SWAT team entered the home at 1:15 a.m. and took Banks into custody without further incident.  The children were found to be unharmed.

A deputy transported Banks to Providence Medford Medical Center for a medical assessment.  He was lodged in jail Friday morning on the following charges: fourth degree assault (felony), harassment, and interfering with a peace officer.  Bail at lodging was $15,000.
