On Sunday, November 4, 2018, at 2:09 a.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the report of a multi-vehicle crash in the 6900 block of SW Alden Street in the community of Garden Home.

When deputies arrived, they learned that the driver of an SUV lost control of his vehicle and crashed into two cars parked in a driveway. The driver then reversed into another parked vehicle and a tree before coming to a stop. Fortunately, no one was injured.

Residents in the area told deputies they suspected the driver was impaired. Deputies conducted an investigation and determined that the driver was impaired by a combination of alcohol and controlled substances.

Noe Garnica, 39, of Garden Home, was arrested and booked at the Washington County Jail on charges of driving under the influence of intoxicants (alcohol and controlled substances), reckless driving and criminal mischief in the second degree. He has since posted bail and has been released.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office reminds the public that driving under the influence of intoxicants is a 100% preventable crime. Before drinking or using controlled substances, designate a driver or use a taxi or transportation networking company such as Uber or Lyft.
