Hillsboro Police Detectives Announce Arrest, Indictment in Sexual Assault Case

A Hillsboro Police Department investigation into a reported sexual assault resulted in a suspect’s arrest and indictment.

On December 2 at 2:34 a.m., Hillsboro Police officers responded to a 911 call at a Sunset Gardens apartment, 951 Southeast 13th Avenue.  A woman reported to the officers a stranger broke into her apartment and sexually assaulted her at knifepoint.

On December 19, Hillsboro Police detectives arrested Gabriel Moscote-Saavedra, 20, and lodged him in the Washington County Jail.  Moscote-Saavedra lives in the same complex as the victim.

On December 26, a Washington County Grand Jury indicted Moscote-Saavedra on the following charges from this incident: first-degree sodomy, unlawful sexual penetration, sexual abuse (three counts), attempted rape, burglary; second-degree assault; and unlawful use of a weapon.  He remains in jail.
