Deputies Investigating Fatal Crash Involving Pedestrian in Aloha

On February 11, 2019, at 8:58 p.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a crash involving a pedestrian at the intersection of Southwest Tualatin Valley Highway and Southwest 178th Avenue in the community of Aloha.

As a passerby was calling 9-1-1, a Metro West ambulance came upon the scene and rendered aid to a 52-year-old male pedestrian. He was transported to OHSU Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

During their initial investigation, deputies learned that a black 2004 Jaguar X-Type was traveling eastbound on Southwest Tualatin Valley Highway when it struck the pedestrian in the roadway. The involved driver, a 32-year-old Beaverton man, remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.

The circumstances of the collision continue to be investigated. Impairment is not believed to be a factor. The inter-agency Washington County Crash Analysis Reconstruction Team responded to assist in the traffic crash investigation.

The eastbound lanes of Southwest Tualatin Valley Highway remain closed between and Southwest 185th Avenue and Southwest 173rd Avenue while investigators process the scene.

The Oregon Department of Transportation is assisting with the road closure. Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue assisted at the scene.
