Roseburg Fire Department

At 12:03 PM on March 7, 2019, Roseburg Fire Department personnel responded to a reported structure fire at 953 SE Main St.  Upon arrival at the residence, firefighters found the sole occupant of the home standing on the front porch with a passerby who had heard her calling for help.  The resident, a 77-year-old female, had sustained minor burn injuries, and was transported to Mercy Medical Center via ambulance for evaluation.

When firefighters entered the home, they located and quickly extinguished a smoldering fire in the upstairs bathroom.  It appeared the resident had attempted to extinguish the fire prior to exiting the home, and had received her injuries in the process.

A total of eleven firefighters assisted with firefighting operations.  Other agencies assisting with the fire included Avista, Roseburg Police Department, and Pacific Power.  A fire investigator was on scene and investigating the cause of the fire, which appears to be accidental in nature.
