Deputies Arrest Individual for Burglary in Tangent

Linn County Sheriff's Office

Linn County Sheriff Jim Yon reports yesterday, April 14, his deputies arrested a male at a residence on Highway 99E in Tangent.

The Linn County 911 Center received a call at 5:17 p.m., stating a male had broken into the homeowner’s residence.  Deputies arrived minutes later and observed the male on the sidewalk near the location.  The male was cooperative and was quickly detained.  When asking for his name, he told them two different false names including “Joe Dirt”.  He was later identified as Marshall Rogers, 35, of Sweet Home.

The deputies learned that the homeowner walked by his vacant residence saw the “For Sale” sign removed and in a shed on the property.  The homeowner went to the residence to see what was going on and Rogers came out of the house claiming it was his residence.  Rogers promptly left and walked out to the sidewalk where deputies found him.

The investigation showed Rogers had entered the residence through a window and removed a lock box on the front door, causing damage.

Rogers was arrested for Burglary and Criminal Mischief.  He was lodged at the Linn County Jail.
