Sheriff's Office responds to fatal afternoon shooting at Gold Club

Clackamas Co. Sheriff's Office

At 2:45 p.m. on Friday, April 17, 2020, Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of a shooting that had just occurred at the Gold Club, located at 17180 SE McLoughlin Blvd. in unincorporated Clackamas County.

Upon arrival, deputies quickly and safely took the adult male suspect into custody without further incident.

The Gold Club was not open to the public at the time of the shooting. It appears workers at the location were there to conduct remodeling or construction on the building, and based on current investigative information, authorities believe one worker fatally shot another.

Clackamas Fire District No. 1 and American Medical Response also responded to the scene. Paramedics pronounced the victim deceased upon arrival.

Detectives from the Sheriff’s Office Homicide and Violent Crimes Unit responded to the crime scene, along with Crime Scene Investigators (CSI), the Clackamas County District Attorney's Office and a Clackamas County Deputy Medical Examiner.

A chaplain and volunteers from the Trauma Intervention Program (TIP) were asked to deploy to the scene to assist those who witnessed the shooting.

This is an active investigation. Additional information will be provided when available.
