CLACKAMAS, SACRAMENTO SHERIFF'S OFFICES ARREST SANDY MAN, 78, ON SEX-ABUSE CHARGES; TIPS SOUGHT

 Clackamas Co. Sheriff's Office

The Clackamas and Sacramento County Sheriff's Offices worked together to arrest a 78-year-old Sandy man last week on sex-abuse charges.

Since December 2020, Clackamas County Sheriff's Office detectives have been working with investigators from the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Sacramento and Clackamas County District Attorney’s Offices. Sacramento County detectives have probable cause to believe William Dowell Arbaugh, 78, of Sandy, had travelled to Sacramento several times between 2011 and 2016, where he is accused of sexually abusing a female juvenile on multiple occasions. The abuse began when the victim was 6 years old.

Sacramento investigators travelled to Clackamas County to meet with our detectives, and last week, on Wednesday, Jan. 27, Clackamas County Sheriff's Office detectives served search warrants at William Arbaugh's residences at 51965 E. Terra Fern Dr. and his apartment at 38100 Sandy Heights St. in Sandy, Oregon.

Detectives then arrested Arbaugh on a felony fugitive warrant and searched his residences for evidence related to the sex-abuse case.

Arbaugh was transported to the Clackamas County Jail, where he is currently being held without bail, awaiting extradition to California. His booking photo is attached, and complete booking info is here: https://web3.clackamas.us/roster/#inmates
