Lightening Strikes Tree in Canby

Just before 2 p.m. on Thursday (May 19), deputies responded to an unusual welfare check: Lightning had just struck a large tree near Canby -- exploding the tree and sending debris flying all over. The 911 caller wanted to make sure everyone at the address was okay.

Deputies responded, taking these remarkable photos of the dramatic aftermath. Fortunately, no one was injured.
