GRESHAM POLICE ARREST SUSPECT IN DEADLY HIT AND RUN INCIDENT

Gresham, Ore.—On Wednesday, August 3, Gresham Police responded to a report of a hit-and-run crash that left a bicyclist deceased in an alley behind 2208 SE 182nd Avenue, which was discovered by a security guard. Officers responded to the location and confirmed that the victim was deceased at the scene.

Members of the Vehicular Crimes Team (VCT) and the Major Crimes Team (MCT) along with crime scene investigators responded to take over the investigation. A review of surveillance video from the area helped investigators develop information on a suspect vehicle, which lead them to a suspect. Detectives and tactical team members served a search warrant at the suspect’s house and arrested 52-year-old Donald Troy Bighaus and located the vehicle used in the hit-and-run which was seized as evidence. As a result of the investigation, Mr. Bighaus was arrested for Murder in the Second Degree and felony Hit-and-Run, and he was transported to the Multnomah County Detention Center.
