Suspicious Death Investigation

Prineville Police Department PRINEVILLE, Ore. — On June 27, 2025 at approximately 11:45 a.m., Prineville dispatch received a 911 call reporting a disturbance in the 800 block of NW 10th Street.  The initial report indicated that two possible victims were involved in the disturbance and had significant injuries. This initial report also indicated that a possible third victim was also injured. Prineville Police, Crook County Sheriff’s office, and the Oregon State Police responded to the scene.  They located the two male victims who were injured.  They located a third victim in the residence who was pronounced deceased at the scene.   The Major Investigations Team (MIT) responded to the incident to immediately initiate the investigation.  Prineville Police believe they have all the parties involved in the incident accounted for and there is no ongoing threat to the community.  The investigation is ongoing and there are no further details that can be relea...

19-Year-Old Falls, Drowns at Local Ashland Area Swimming Hole

Jackson County Sheriff's Office JCSO Case 25-3388 ASHLAND, Ore. – Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) deputies responded to a call for a drowning last night at a swimming hole located off of Dead Indian Memorial Road outside Ashland. Next-of-kin has been notified. Our condolences go out to his family and friends. No suspicious circumstances were observed on scene, we will not be releasing decedent information out of respect for the family’s privacy in this difficult time.   JCSO deputies responded Thursday, June 26 at 7:19 PM to the rock quarry reservoir in the 500 block of Keno Access Road outside of Ashland. The initial investigation revealed a 19-year-old man reportedly fell from a cliff at the water’s edge and disappeared into the deep water. JCSO Search and Rescue (SAR) responded to recover his remains. JCSO Medical Examiner detectives arrived to investigate. There is no additional information available at this time. Douglas Forest Protective Association JIM CREEK FIRE. GLIDE, ORE: Thursday, June 26, 2025, at approximately 7:50 p.m., crews from the Douglas Forest Protective Association (DFPA), Central Douglas Fire & Rescue, and Glide Rural Fire Protection District responded to an estimated 10–15-acre logging slash and timber fire located approximately 9 miles southeast of Glide, OR, near Cavitt Creek Road.   Upon arrival at the scene, a fast-moving, wind-driven fire was found. An aggressive initial attack was initiated, and additional resources were ordered. Umpqua National Forest Service, Roseburg BLM, Coos Forest Protective Association, landowner resources, and contract crews arrived throughout the night, assisting in knocking down the forward spread and establishing a 100% trailed and plumbed line around the perimeter.  Day shift crews will continue to strengthen lines and initiate mop-up. ATM Dragged from Gas Station, Safe Stolen and Left in Roadway – Suspects Caught

Klamath County Sheriff's Office In the early morning hours of June 25th, 2025, a U-Haul van was used in a bold string of burglaries across Klamath County, starting around 3:00 AM. The suspects first attempted to steal an ATM from the Fastbreak Gas Station in Keno by dragging it with a tow strap attached to the van. Roughly 20 minutes later, the same van was caught on video at Worden Cafe off Hwy 97S. Two suspects exited the van and tried to break in but fled when the alarm activated. At approximately 3:50 AM, the van was seen again at the Midland Store and Post Office. Three individuals broke into the Post Office, stealing a safe and bags of mail. The suspects attempted to tow the safe away, but the strap broke and the safe was abandoned in the roadway. Thanks to quick investigative work, the U-Haul van was traced back to a rental from Klamath Falls. Driver Extricated After Rollover Crash on Marvin Hill

Kellogg Rural Fire District Today at 12:43 PM, Kellogg Rural Fire District responded to a single-vehicle rollover crash near milepost 16 on Highway 138 West, on Marvin Hill. First arriving units found an SUV on its roof, blocking both eastbound and westbound lanes, with the driver injured and trapped inside. After stabilizing the vehicle, firefighters used specialized hydraulic extrication equipment to free the occupant. Additional manpower was provided by the Sutherlin Fire Department, who responded with mutual aid to assist during the extrication. Umpqua Valley Ambulance transported the driver from the scene. During the recovery, one-way traffic was opened up to help ease delays while crews continued working. ODOT assisted with traffic control and roadway cleanup, and Oregon State Police were also on scene. LCPD Narcotics Detective Recovers Substantial Quantities of Fentanyl from Local Residence

Lincoln City Police Department On June 16, 2025, as a culmination of a months-long investigation into 32-year-old Jonathan Blackwood of Lincoln City, the Lincoln City Police Department Narcotics Detective, supported by members of the Toledo Police Department, McMinnville Police Department, and the LCPD patrol division, executed a search warrant at Blackwood’s residence on NE 36th Drive. The subsequent search led to the discovery of controlled substances including suspected Fentanyl, illegal prescription pills, and substantial quantities of Heroin. In addition to the controlled substances, further evidence of Blackwood’s drug dealing operation, which spanned over several years, was also uncovered.  Due to unforeseen circumstances, Blackwood was not lodged in jail at the time of the operation. 42-year-old, Cody Ravagni of Lincoln City, was lodged at the Lincoln County Jail on a charge of Frequenting a Place where Controlled Substances are Used for knowingly permitting the residence h...

Lincoln County Sheriff's Office On June 24, 2025, Lincoln County Circuit Court Presiding Judge Sheryl Bachart sentenced Angela Schafer (53-year-old) to 18 months in the Department of Corrections for sexually abusing a Taft High School student while Schafer was employed by the school district.   Schafer was employed by the Lincoln County School District in 2022 as a Health Services Advocate serving at Taft High School, Lincoln City, Oregon. In September 2024, Lincoln City Police Department (LCPD) initiated an investigation after allegations surfaced regarding an inappropriate relationship between Schafer and a student earlier that year. After an extensive investigation by Detective Bud Lane (LCPD), Schafer was officially indicted by the Lincoln County Grand Jury in November 2024. City Of Seaside SEASIDE, Ore. – June 25, 2025 – Seaside Fire & Rescue and Seaside Police responded to a report of a shore fisherman in distress in the water at 8:38 a.m. on Wednesday, June 25 on Seaside Beach near 5th Ave. Police officers arrived first and spotted the victim approximately 25 feet offshore, drifting south in the surf near 3rd Ave. Fire & Rescue arrived shortly after and rescue swimmers entered the water, reaching the victim by 8:52 a.m. in the water just south of the Turnaround. The male victim was transported by ambulance with CPR in progress to Providence Seaside Hospital, where he was unfortunately pronounced deceased. The City of Seaside extends its gratitude to the brave first responders from both the Police and Fire Departments, as well as the dispatchers who manage emergency calls 24/7. CALIFORNIA MAN RESCUED AFTER 40 FOOT FALL AT TOKETEE FALLS MONDAY

Sheriff's Office A California man was severely injured after falling approximately 40 feet while visiting Toketee Falls on Monday, resulting in a hours-long rescue involving multiple agencies. On Monday, June 23, 2025, shortly after 1:00 p.m., a group of friends from Southern California were visiting Toketee Falls and crossed over the chain link safety fence and proceeded down approximately 200 feet to the beach area at the bottom. While taking turns jumping off a cliff into the water pool, 20-year-old Nicholas Foy of Newbury Park, California slipped and fell approximately 40 feet onto the rocks below, hitting his head. Sheriff’s Deputies Arrest Arson Suspect for Lighting Fire Near 2-Acre Red Blanket Road Fire, Grand Jury Indicts on All Charges

Jackson County Sheriff's Office PROSPECT, Ore. – Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) deputies arrested a Prospect man for intentionally starting a fire Wednesday, June 18 in the Red Blanket Road area east of Prospect. JCSO deputies located the man Thursday, June 19 in the 44000 block of Highway 62 in Prospect. The suspect barricaded briefly in a house before deputies arrested him without incident at 12:32 PM.    The suspect, Allen Lee Bicknell, 51, a Prospect area transient, is charged with first-degree arson and reckless burning. A Jackson County Grand Jury indicted Bicknell on all charges the morning of Tuesday, June 24. Convicted Sex-Offender Arrested for Failure to Register

Coos County Sheriff's Office On June 23, 2025, at approximately 12:20 PM, Deputy Z. Smith observed a red 2004 Ford Focus commit a traffic violation near Libby Lane and Shinglehouse Road. A traffic stop was conducted near Southwest Blvd and Pennsylvania Road in Coos Bay. The driver, identified as Dennis Steinhoff (64), was found to be non-compliant with his mandated sex offender registration due to a prior conviction. Deputy Smith took Steinhoff into custody and transported him to Coos County Jail for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender. Following a thorough check, jail staff determined Steinhoff was to be released in compliance with SB 48, as no overriding factors were present. Seeking The Public’s Help Locating A Missing And Endangered Woman

Eugene Police Department   Eugene Police has taken a report of a missing, endangered woman and is seeking your help to locate her.  Family called concerned about 74-year-old Zuriel Velma Fleischauer, who has memory issues and left home in the 3300 block of Bentley this morning, June 23, and has yet to return, which is very unusual.  Fleischauer is described as a white female with blue eyes, dark brown hair, about 5' tall, weighing 90 pounds, and last seen wearing a purple windbreaker, black pants, and carrying a brown/white purse. Fleischauer travels by bus and/or by foot. She likes to frequent shopping centers (i.e. Fred Meyers, Target), and sometimes the Eugene Library. DETECTIVES MAKE ARREST ON TWO SEXUAL ASSAULT CASES

Salem Police Dept. Salem, Ore.  — The diligent work of the Salem Police Special Victims Unit Detectives has led to an arrest in both sexual assault cases.  In the early morning hours of June 20, 2025, detectives served a search warrant in the 5200 block of Salal St SE in Salem. Upon service of the warrant related to these cases detectives arrested Jonathan Muhire, age 19 of Salem, without incident.    Since the reporting of the crimes earlier this week, detectives have been working rotating shifts on an around the clock detail to follow up on leads and conduct surveillance. This relentless work led detectives to be able to quickly apprehend Muhire.   Muhire was lodged at the  Marion County Jail  on the charges relating to both cases of Sex Abuse 1, Unlawful Sexual Penetration 1, Kidnap 1, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Menace, Strangulation and Assault IV.   Muhire is scheduled to be arraigned at the  Marion County Circuit Court Annex  at 2:3...

Cottage Grove Police Department On June 19, 2025 at about 12:30 pm, a Cottage Grove Police Detective and Police Officers arrested 61 year old Cory M. Aslin at his residence in Cottage Grove.  The arrest was the result of an ongoing investigation into allegations that Aslin possessed sexually explicit images of children during which a search warrant had previously been executed at his residence.  The investigation is ongoing and no further details are available at this time.  The Cottage Grove Police Department was assisted by the Lane County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI during this investigation and we thank them for their assistance.     The arrest is part of a partnership between local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies to combat child exploitation and protect the children in our community.  Thank you to the agencies who participate in the Lane County ICAC Task Force and work together to make our community safer.   𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐬:...

Man Arrested After Woman Is Assaulted Downtown

Eugene Police Department At 7:57 a.m. on June 17, Eugene Police officers responded to the 800 block of Pearl Street after a Eugene woman in her early 40s reported an assault. She was walking in the area and a man who had been asking other individuals for money, asked her as well. When she replied she did not the suspect grabbed her tote bag off her shoulder and then threw her on the ground. The victim hit her face, knee, and wrists on the sidewalk and the suspect ran away.  Officers working the case identified the suspect as 29-year-old Joel Cox-Lopez and arrested him today. OREGON EMERGENCY COORDINATION CENTER ACTIVATES TO LEVEL 3 FOR WILDFIRE RESPONSE

FATAL CRASH HIGHWAY 194 – POLK COUNTY

Oregon State Police POLK COUNTY, Ore. (June 18, 2025) — On Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at approximately 6:38 a.m., Oregon State Police responded to a two-vehicle fatal crash in Polk County near Monmouth. The preliminary investigation indicated a farming swather, operated by Dylan Wyatt Branch (34) of Monmouth, was traveling westbound on Highway 194 near milepost 5 when an eastbound white Toyota 4Runner, operated by Erika Margit Smith (59) of Dallas, struck the swather’s boom. The 4Runner left the roadway and came to rest in the trees on the north shoulder. The operator of the 4Runner (Smith) was pronounced deceased at the scene. The operator of the swather (Branch) was not injured. The highway was impacted for approximately four hours during the on-scene investigation. STABBING INCIDENT AT STEWART PARK

Roseburg Police Dept. On June 16, 2025 at approximately 2153 hours, the Roseburg Police Department, along with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, responded to a reported stabbing at  Stewart Park (2041 NW Stewart Parkway ).  The investigation into the incident is ongoing. Preliminarily, it appears the stabbing was associated with a group of juveniles involved in a disturbance near the train at the park.  The incident progressed from a verbal disturbance, and two juveniles began to physically fight.  During the physical altercation, one of the involved juveniles (15 year old male) stabbed the other juvenile (17 year old male) multiple times.  The stabbing victim sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Mercy Medical Center by Umpqua Valley Ambulance.  The 15 year old male was taken into custody without incident and was lodged at Douglas County Juvenile Detention Center.    The Roseburg Police Department would like to extend ...

Eugene Police Department UPDATE - she has been located. Catherine "Catie" Richardson’s family called concerned because she has been missing since June 14. She was last seen in Eugene in the area of West 7th Place and Mckinley Street on Saturday, June 14, at 6:23 pm. She was on foot walking westbound. Catie was visiting the area from Oklahoma and planned to return home. She has not been heard from since Saturday June 14, and her phone shows to be turned off. She is described as a white female, age 22, 5'2", 110 pounds, long very curly dark brown hair, and hazel eyes. She was last seen wearing a purplish, red, long-sleeve shirt, black and grey leggings, white shoes and socks, with a purple, pink, and dark purple flannel shirt tied around her waist, and carrying a light-colored backpack purse. Water Rescue on the Rogue River

Salem Fire Department Two members of Salem Fire’s Water Rescue Team (WRT)—Captain Josh Hiskey and Engineer Kyle Brown—recently completed a five-day Drift Boat Course on the Rogue River from June 9–13, hosted by the Oregon State Marine Board. The course sharpened their skills in navigating swift water using our 14’ raft. It included hands-on training in knot tying, hydrodynamics, reading river conditions, rescue swimming, recovering sunken boats, and more. But the training turned real on Thursday, June 12, when Josh, Kyle, and their instructor, Captain Nick Fitzpatrick (Jackson County Fire District 4), rescued four people after a raft deflated on sharp rocks just before entering rapids. One person was pulled from the water during the rapids, and the other three were assisted from shore. None were wearing life jackets—a sobering reminder of how quickly things can turn dangerous on the water. Thanks to their quick actions and this vital training, a potential tragedy was avoided. Overnight Crash Results in Death of 16-Year-Old

Linn County Sheriff's Office Linn County Sheriff Michelle Duncan reports that this morning, June 14, 2025, at 1:00 a.m., the Linn County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call for an injury accident that occurred on Middle Ridge Drive, Lebanon.  First responders from the Linn County Sheriff’s Office, Brownsville Rural Fire District and Lebanon Fire District responded to Middle Ridge Drive. First Responders found the crash location on a gravel section of Middle Ridge Drive, and it appeared a 2021 Chevrolet pickup failed to negotiate a corner and struck a tree.  Four teenage boys (ages 16 and 17), two from Albany and two from Lebanon, were in the vehicle at the time of the crash.  It was determined one of the boys was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.  The other boys had serious injuries and were transported to local area hospitals.  Two of the boys were transported to Corvallis Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center and one boy was tran...

Officer Involved Shooting - Gresham

Gresham Police Department On June 13th at about 7:30pm, Gresham police officers, assisted by deputies from the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office, responded to a report of a physical disturbance on NE 162nd Ave near NE Glisan St.  Witnesses reported one of the people involved in the disturbance was armed.  Officers developed probable cause to arrest the armed suspect for assault and other crimes.  When they attempted to contact him, he fled on foot.   During the ensuing search, a sheriff’s deputy located the suspect in a nearby neighborhood, and an officer-involved shooting occurred.  During the incident, a Gresham police officer also deployed a 40mm less-lethal projectile.  Officers provided emergency medical care for the suspect until an ambulance arrived.  A handgun was recovered near where the suspect fell. Fatal Traffic Crash Under Investigation on Scenic Drive

Benton Co. Sheriff's Office CORVALLIS, Ore. – On June 13, 2025, at 1:22 p.m., deputies from the Benton County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash on Scenic Drive in Albany.   Upon arrival, deputies located a black 2010 Subaru Forester that had left the roadway and traveled down a steep embankment before colliding with a tree. The vehicle’s sole occupant, 36-year-old Ethan Ward Glaser of Albany, was pronounced deceased at the scene as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.   A preliminary investigation indicates the vehicle was traveling southbound on Scenic Drive when, for reasons yet to be determined, the driver lost control and exited the roadway.
