Roseburg area man is in jail on child sex abuse charges

Douglas County sheriff's May 31,2018 Sergeant Brad O’Dell of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said on May 21st, DCSO began an investigation into a report that Stephen Jones had sexually abused children. O’Dell said that it had been reported that the 35 year old man had sexually abused more than one child under age 12, who were known to him. Jones was jailed on Monday and charged with two counts of first degree sodomy, four counts of first degree sex abuse and for one count of incest. He was initially detained on $1.8 million dollars bail.

Firefighters Respond to Gas Meter Fire in Aloha

Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue  - 05/31/18  At 9 p.m. Wednesday evening, multiple calls to 911 were reporting flames coming from the side of a residential multi-unit complex at the corner of 198th Avenue and Alexander Street in Aloha. Bystanders quickly evacuated the tenants living in the unit adjacent to the fire. First-arriving crews from Aloha Station 62 found a working fire coming from the side of the house and upon removal of the surrounding fence, determined a set of gas meters was on fire. The incident was immediately upgraded to a first alarm, adding more units to the scene to ensure adequate firefighting resources. NW Natural was also dispatched to the scene. With assistance from multiple crews, including our technical rescue team based out of our downtown Tigard station, a trench was dug to access an underground gas line feeding the meters, allowing NW Natural to crimp the line, which subsequently put the fire out. Police Seek Help Locating Missing Gresham Man

Gresham Police Dept  - 05/30/18  Gresham, Ore. – Gresham Police is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a missing 55-year-old man with memory problems caused by a stroke. Ricky Butcher was last seen at his Gresham residence on the morning of May 23.  Butcher is approximately 5-feet-9-inches tall and 195 pounds. He was last seen wearing black shorts, a black beanie cap, and a black and gray backpack. Butcher is known to frequent the downtown Portland area. Anyone who knows of Butcher’s whereabouts is encouraged to call the non-emergency police dispatch line at 503.823.3333 or if needed, 911.

Firefighters Battle Challenging Brush Fire in Washington County

Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue  - 05/30/18  Shortly before 11 a.m. today, our WCCCA 911 dispatch center received a call regarding burn piles that were spreading out of control, making their way up a ravine and threatening a nearby home on Holly Hill Road in unincorporated Washington County.  The property owner performing the burn had two 250-gallon water tanks with a pumper on site but had exhausted his water supply after several hours of trying to gain control of the fire on his own. This initiated his call for assistance.  Upon arrival of the first incoming crews from our TVF&R Midway Station, firefighters found approximately 12-15 acres actively on fire, with flames heading towards the property owner’s house. Firefighters made it an immediate priority to protect the home, while additional units from TVF&R, Hillsboro Fire, Cornelius Fire and Gaston Fire arrived to assist.  Firefighters moved quickly around the perimeter of the fire to begin containment and knockd

Male Captured After Running From Court

Beaverton Police Dept.  - 05/30/18  On May 30, 2018 at 10:53 a.m. 34-year-old Cory Hergenrader ran from Beaverton Municipal Court during a sentencing hearing. Mr. Hergenrader was taken into custody 11 minutes later by Beaverton Police officers. Mr. Hergenrader was being sentenced by the Honorable Judge Ravelo in Beaverton Municipal Court regarding a Driving While Suspended-Misdemeanor criminal charge. Mr. Hergenrader was not in custody prior to the hearing. Mr. Hergenrader was originally being sentenced to 90 days in jail with credit for time served. During sentencing, Mr. Hergenrader ran from the courtroom, to avoid going to jail. Multiple Beaverton Police officers responded to help locate Mr. Hergenrader. Mr. Hergenrader ran through the Fred Meyer store and then into the Subaru car dealership near SW Canyon Rd/SW 115th. Armed Kidnapping **Update** Suspect in Custody

Newport Police Dept.  - 05/30/18  Update On May 30, 2018, the Newport Police Department submitted a request to the public to help identify the person responsible for the armed kidnapping that occurred at a Newport area motel on May 26.  Investigators received many tips regarding the identity of the suspect.  One tip led investigators to Corvallis resident Cedar A. Haddad, 19 years of age. Newport Police Investigators, assisted by investigators from Lincoln City Police, Toledo Police, and the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, worked with the Corvallis Police Department, Oregon State Police and OSU Public Safety and located Haddad’s residence and his vehicle in Corvallis. Investigators located Haddad near his residence and he was taken into custody without incident.  Investigators obtained a search warrant to identify evidence related to the May 26 kidnapping. K9 Finds Drugs, Money During Traffic Stop

Jackson Co. Sheriff's Office  - 05/30/18  WHITE CITY, Ore. – An Alaska man is in jail after deputies found large quantities of drugs and money in his vehicle.  A Jackson County Sheriff’s Office K9 assisted deputies in finding the contraband during a traffic stop in White City late Tuesday night. On May 29, 2018, at 11:37 p.m., a deputy stopped a blue Ford Mustang for a traffic violation near the intersection of Antelope Road and Division Road.  JCSO K9 Jack alerted to the presence of drugs.  During the subsequent search of the vehicle, deputies found an ounce each of heroin, methamphetamine, and cocaine, additional drug packaging materials, and approximately $11,000 cash. The driver, Patrick Wesley Jaynes, 48, of Ketchikan, Alaska, and formerly of the Eagle Point area, was arrested and lodged in the Jackson County jail on numerous drug charges related to unlawful possession, manufacture, and delivery of heroin, methamphetamine, and cocaine.  Bail at lodging was $3,025,000. Crash Downs Power Lines, Driver Cited

Jackson Co. Sheriff's Office  - 05/30/18  MEDFORD, Ore. – A single-vehicle crash in West Medford struck a power pole and started a small fire during the Wednesday morning commute.  The driver was not injured. On May 30, 2018, at 6:39 a.m., a citizen called 911 to report the crash in the 400-block of Oak Grove Road.  Jackson County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to find a white 2003 Mercedes convertible had left the roadway and crashed into a power pole, shearing it at the base. Medford Fire and Rescue responded to extinguish a small fire started by the downed power lines.  Pacific Power responded to repair the pole and to restore power. The driver, a 26-year-old woman, was transported to Rogue Regional Medical Center for assessment.  She was found to be uninjured.  A deputy cited the driver for careless driving.

Commercial vehicle driver killed in roll over crash

Oregon State Police  - 05/30/18  Oregon State Police  - 05/30/18               Preliminary investigation revealed that a blue 2011 Kenworth tractor and flatbed trailer, operated by Pete George Cappello, age 63, from Cottonwood, California, was traveling northbound on US 395 near milepost 151 when, for an unknown reason, the combination drifted into the ditch on the east shoulder and subsequently rolled in the highway.  Cappello suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene.  On May 29, 2018 at about 1:10 PM, Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a rollover Commercial Motor Vehicle crash on US 395 near milepost 151 in Lake County. US 395 was closed for over four hours following the crash.  OSP was assisted by ODOT, Lakeview Sheriff's Office, Lakeview Police Department, Lakeview EMS, Lakeview Fire, New Pine Creek Fire, and Thomas Creek/Westside Fire.
