Female Inmate Dies in Custody

Benton Co. Sheriff's Office  - 12/23/18  Today at 12:05 pm, Benton County Deputies discovered a female inmate, in her cell at the Benton County Jail, unresponsive after lunch was served Medical Personnel responded and determined the female was deceased.  No immediate manner of death was observed, and the investigation is ongoing.  Sheriff  Scott Jackson, in coordination with the Benton County District Attorney, requested Linn County Sheriff's Office to lead the investigation.   The deceased has been identified as Alyssa M. Sund DOB 2/15/1977.  She had been booked in the Benton County Jail on 12/19/18 on Theft, Burglary and Criminal Mischief Charges by Albany Police Department. The Sheriff's Office is focused on a thorough investigation and is referring all further media request to the Benton County District Attorney's Office.   

Man Arrested on Multiple Charges after Crash Involving Five Cars

Washington Co. Sheriff's Office  - 12/23/18  On Saturday, December 22, 2018, 2018, at 10:40 p.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to an injury crash involving five vehicles at SW 170th Avenue and SW Farmington Road in Aloha. When deputies arrived, they were told that the male driver who caused the crash ran from the scene. Witnesses reported that he had been driving recklessly prior to the crash and had intentionally rammed one vehicle before losing control and striking the other vehicles. One person was transported to the hospital with unknown injuries. Hillsboro Police Officer Matthew Schmidt deployed his K9, Blazer, who located the suspect a short distance from the crash scene, hiding in vegetation. The suspect was identified as 51-year-old Wesley Howard Scott, of Beaverton. Mr. Howard was arrested and taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries before being booked into the Washington County Jail. He is charged with the following:

Missing Azalea Man Found Deceased

Sheriff's Office  - 12/22/18  UPDATE   Azalea, Ore. -  After three days of extensive ground searching in steep terrain, the body of Terry Dodds was located by search crews on Saturday at about 1:20 pm. Dodds was located approximately 200 meters from his vehicle over an embankment in thick reprod and brush. The Douglas County Medical Examiner’s Office is conducting a death investigation and next of kin has been notified. The Sheriff's Office was assisted by Jackson and Josephine County Search and Rescue personnel. ### Azalea, Ore.  - The Douglas County Sheriff's Office was notified at 9:50 am, Thursday, December 20, 2018, that Terry Dodds' dog had been located by loggers. The loggers brought the dog to Dodds residence, not knowing anything about the missing person report. Lincoln Co. Sheriff's Office  - 12/22/18  On December 22, 2018, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Marine Deputies were dispatched to an overturned drift boat in the Siletz River. The complainant was a passenger in the boat and advised his friend, the boat operator, continued downstream alongside the overturned boat. The caller advised he was on the riverbank somewhere between Hehe Illahee boat ramp and Mill Park boat ramp, but had lost contact with the operator and boat. Marine Deputies, assisted by patrol deputies, responded with a power boat and Lincoln County Search and Rescue was placed on standby. Prior to deputies arrival, Siletz Valley Fire Department made contact with the caller in a field at the end of Wade Road in Siletz. Deputies launched a powerboat at Mill Park and started searching up river for the missing boater. Deputies located the 60 year old boat operator and drift boat approximately three quarters of a mile up river from the Wade Road green bridge on Hwy 2

Victim Identified in Friday Death Investigation in Lloyd Neighborhood

Portland Police Bureau  - 12/22/18  The deceased victim located in a motel room at the Motel 6, located at 518 Northeast Holladay Street, has been identified as 18-year-old Ian R. Olson of St. Helens. A member of the Oregon State Medical Examiner's Office determined Olson died of homicidal violence as a result of a gunshot injury. This remains an open and ongoing investigation and no suspects have been taken into custody in relation to this homicide investigation. At this time there is not believed to be a danger to the community in relation to this homicide . There is no additional information to provide the public at this time in the investigation. Woman Dies in Early Morning Crash

Sheriff's Office  - 12/22/18  SHADY COVE – Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) deputies are investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash that occurred on Highway 62 early Saturday morning.  The single vehicle crash at the Shady Cove city limits killed one passenger; the driver and a second passenger were taken to the hospital. On December 22, 2018, at 2:29 a.m., dispatch received a 911 call reporting a crash on Highway 62 just south of Brophy Way.  A northbound 2017 Honda Accord sedan left the roadway and crashed into the back of a semi-truck trailer parked on the shoulder. A 25-year-old Shady Cove woman riding in the front passenger seat was partially ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene.   Investigators say she was not wearing a seat belt. Bethany Man Arrested for Stabbing Stranger

Sheriff's Office  - 12/20/18  On Wednesday, December 19, 2018, at 9:34 p.m., a Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputy was at the Sheriff’s Office Bethany Precinct when he was approached by a man. The man told the deputy that an unknown person stabbed him in the back while he was sitting outside the Bethany Starbucks. The Bethany Starbucks is located a block away from the Sheriff’s Bethany Precinct. The deputy rendered medical attention to the man until Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue arrived. The man was treated and released at the scene. The deputy relayed the description to deputies who conducted a thorough search of the area. As Sheriff’s deputies continued their investigation, a K9 tracked to a neighborhood directly north of the Bethany Shopping Center. The suspect was not located. POINT investigation results in 2 pound meth seizure

Sheriff's Office  - 12/20/18  On December 17, 2018 members of the Polk Interagency Narcotics Team (POINT) conducted an operation involving the wholesale distribution of methamphetamine in Polk County, Oregon.  The investigation concluded in the parking lot of the Chevron gas station located at 5322 Salem-Dallas Highway.  The operation resulted in the arrest of Carlos Delfin (DOB/ 2-16-1998) from Salem.  Delfin was charged with Unlawful Possession and Delivery of a substantial quantity of methamphetamine as a result of the operation.  Delfin was found to be in possession of 953.3 grams (2.1 pounds) of methamphetamine. POINT was assisted in the operation by a K9 unit (Kyra) and handler, Deputy Druery, of the Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office as well as deputies from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff's Office  - 12/20/18  On Thursday, December 20, 2018, at 2:28 a.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to an alarm activation from a bait package deployed by detectives at a residence in the area of West Baseline Road and Southwest 170th Avenue in Aloha. Deputies converged on the area and within three minutes of being dispatched arrived in a nearby apartment complex where the bait package was showing to be located. Beaverton Police Officer Jered Lutu and his partner, K-9 Toa, arrived and tracked from the original bait package location to a stairwell leading to several apartments which coincided with the location given by GPS. Deputies then used a handheld beacon to narrow down the specific location of the bait package to an individual unit in the complex. Crime Stoppers of Oregon  - 12/20/18  The Portland Police Bureau, in partnership with Crime Stoppers of Oregon, is asking for the public's help to identify and arrest a suspect involved in a fatal hit and run. On Wednesday, October 10, 2018, at 10:17 p.m., East Precinct officers responded to the intersection of Southeast 138th Avenue and Southeast Division Street on the report that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle. When officers and emergency medical personnel arrived at the crash scene they located 54-year-old Loan T. Diep deceased on the roadway. Members of the Portland Police Bureau Traffic Division's Major Crash Team responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. Based on the initial investigation, officers believe Diep was walking south across Southeast Division Street when she was struck by a vehicle being driven west on Southeast Division Street. MISSING AZALEA MAN'S VEHICLE AND DOG LOCATED, SEARCH UNDERWAY

Sheriff's Office  December 20th, 2018  Azalea, Ore.  - The Douglas County Sheriff's Office was notified at 9:50 am, Thursday, December 20, 2018, that Terry Dodds' dog had been located by loggers. The loggers brought the dog to Dodds residence, not knowing anything about the missing person report. Rapist Convicted Following Jury Trial

District Attorney's Office  - 12/20/18  HILLSBORO, Ore.- On December 14, 2018, a Washington County jury found Tyrone Neil Murphy guilty on multiple counts of sexual assault after a pattern of victimization that spanned a decade. Murphy was found guilty on four counts of first-degree Sodomy, two counts of first-degree Rape, and two counts of second-degree Sex Abuse. Murphy has five prior convictions for third-degree Sex Abuse from 2009. This most recent investigation began in 2017 after an initial complaint was made to law enforcement. Detective Anthony Johnson of the Hillsboro Police Department worked diligently, ultimately locating two additional, previously undisclosed, female victims. Sheriff's Office  - 12/20/18  On Wednesday, December 19, 2018, at 7:41 a.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies served a search warrant at a residence in the 1100 block of Southwest 182nd Avenue in the Aloha community. Deputies had obtained a warrant to search the residence of Daniel Marcum for evidence of drug distribution. During execution of the search warrant, deputies discovered deplorable conditions inside the residence. In total, five individuals were detained from inside the home. Daniel Marcum, 22, was arrested for unlawful delivery of oxycodone, unlawful possession of methamphetamine, and possession of illegal fireworks. Daniel’s parents, Scott Marcum, 51, and Kelly Marcum 50, were both arrested for first-degree animal neglect after their miniature Greyhound was found with an untreated broken leg, lying in its own waste in a bathroom. Dutch Brother's Robbery

12/19/18 On December 18th, 2018 just after 7:15 P.M., Officers responded to the report of a robbery that just occurred at the Dutch Brothers coffee stand on Diamond Lake Boulevard in Roseburg.  It was reported a male suspect who was wearing a mask, displayed a firearm and demanded cash from an employee.  The employee cooperated with the suspect's demands, and the suspect was last seen running away, northbound on Fulton Street. A Roseburg Police K9 attempted to track the suspect's path from the scene, but ultimately didn't locate him.  Later in the evening a 17 year old Roseburg male was developed as a potential suspect and he was later contacted at his residence.  During that follow up investigation, the 17 year old male was arrested for the robbery and lodged at the Douglas County Juvenile Detention Center.

Suspect arrested in sex abuse investigation - Josephine County

Oregon State Police  - 12/19/18 On Monday, December 17, 2018,  Oregon State Police Detectives arrested Mark Christopher Boothe (50) of Josephine County.  Boothe was lodged in the Josephine County Jail on 5 counts of Sex Abuse in the First Degree and 5 counts of Sodomy in the First Degree.   Detectives believe there are more victims and are asking anyone that is a victim or knows someone that has been a victim of Boothe to contact the Oregon State Police Southern Command Center at 1-800-442-2068 or OSP (677) and reference Detective Eve Thornton. Boothe has been a resident of the Merlin area since 1992.

Gresham Police Investigate Armed Robbery

Gresham Police Dept  - 12/18/18 Gresham, Ore. – On Dec. 18th, 2018 at 10:17 p.m., Gresham Police responded to a report of a robbery involving a gun at the Sidekicks Deli, 1489 SE Hogan Rd.  An employee closing the business was robbed by a male suspect who fled the area with an undisclosed amount of cash.     The unidentified suspect is described as a white male, early 20’s, approximately 6-feet-tall with a skinny build.  He was wearing all dark clothing and had his face covered with a bandana. He displayed a black handgun and appeared to have left on foot. The employee was not physically harmed.   The investigation is ongoing. 

Portland Man Sentenced to 60 Months in Prison for Distributing Child Pornography via Bittorrent Network

U.S. Attorney's Office - District of Oregon  - 12/18/18  PORTLAND, Ore. – Jordan Thomas Prentice, 28, of Portland, was sentenced today to 60 months in federal prison for distributing child pornography using a BitTorrent peer-to-peer file-sharing network. Upon completion of his prison sentence, Prentice will be on supervised release for five years. According to court documents, on July 3, 2015, an undercover agent with the Vancouver, Washington Police Department downloaded multiple files depicting infants, toddlers and other prepubescent children being sexually abused from a BitTorrent file-sharing network. Investigators traced the IP address associated with the files to Prentice’s residence in Portland. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) identified numerous files downloaded from Prentice’s IP address that depicted children identified in prior investigations and some of whom resided outside of Oregon. ***UPDATE*** Missing Elderly Woman FOUND

Multnomah Co. Sheriff's Office  - 12/18/18 On Monday 12/17/2018 at approximately 12:15 p.m. Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue (SAR) teams, working alongside searchers from Mountain Wave Search and Rescue, Pacific NW Search and Rescue, and Washington County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue discovered a deceased female, later identified as Marie Helena Evans. Ms. Evans’s was found near the bank of the Columbia River, south of her home. Preliminary reports indicate that Ms. Evans died from a combination of exposure to the weather and poor physical health, and there were no signs of foul play. MCSO detectives are involved and will be doing a death investigation.  The Ms. Evans's body has been turned over to the Multnomah County Medical Examiner’s Office.  No further details are available at this time.          

Corvallis Police Investigating Large Fight

Corvallis Police  - 12/18/18  At approximately 3:58 PM on December 17, 2018, Corvallis Police Department Officers were dispatched to the 300 block of NW Monroe Ave for a large fight involving multiple people.  Upon arriving, Officers discovered that six people were involved in the altercation, one of which had already left the area.  Four people were detained on-scene and a fifth male, identified as James Marr, was found to be suffering from a medical event which required transport to the hospital.  It is not yet known if the medical event was directly related to the fight.  Four of the individuals involved in the fight were transported to the Benton County Jail where they were charged with Disorderly Conduct II and released.  Those four are identified as Albert Grigorov (age 22), Ralph Bolger Jr. (age 64), Noah Orduna (age 23), and Conor Butler (age 19).

Two Douglas County residents charged with wildlife violations

Oregon State Police  - 12/18/18 On December 6, 2018, an Oregon State Police Fish and Wildlife Trooper from the Roseburg Area Command responded to the report of a poaching and trespassing incident that occurred on December 5, 2018, in the Drain area. Investigation revealed that a large black tail buck deer was shot within feet of a residence in Drain.  The event was captured on the home security system.    With assistance from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, subjects of interest was identified. On December 14, 2018, Troopers and Sheriff’s Deputies contacted the subjects of interest at their residence. The antlers and head for a 4X3 black tail deer were recovered  The meat that was recovered from a butcher shop will be donated to a charity. Fatal Crash

Douglas Co. Sheriff's Office  - 12/18/18  SUTHERLIN, Ore.  - A crash Tuesday morning claimed the life of a Roseburg man.  At 7:28 am, 9-1-1 dispatchers received calls of a single vehicle crash in the 17300-block of Nonpareil Road. Emergency crews arrived to find a 1999 Volvo Sanitation Truck owned by Sutherlin Sanitary Service which had been traveling east bound that left the roadway and crashed into a tree coming to rest on its side. The driver, 51 year-old Dennis Lee Roderick of Roseburg, was pronounced deceased at the scene.  The crash investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact the Douglas County Sheriff's Office at 541-440-4471.  Next of kin has been notified.

Bend Police seek help locating missing elderly male

Bend Police Dept.  - 12/17/18 UPDATE- At approximately 0057 hrs. on this date, a private citizen had requested Bend Police conduct a welfare check on an elderly male they observed sitting along the roadway on Mt. Washington Drive near NE 3rd Street in Bend.  Bend Police responded and contacted an elderly male who was identified as Jerome Jewett, the subject of the missing person case.  Given Jewett's extended exposure to the cold weather, he was transported to St. Charles Medical Center for evaluation. The Bend Police Department would like to recognize the citizen who reported their concerns to law enforcement.  We would also like to thank the Deschutes County Sheriff's Office Search & Rescue division for their tireless assistance in this case. Tigard Pedestrian Struck By Vehicle

Tigard Police  - 12/17/18  Just before 5 p.m. on Monday, December 17, a pedestrian attempting to cross Hall Blvd. in Tigard was struck by a vehicle. The incident occurred in the area of a Fanno Creek Trail pedestrian crossing spanning Hall Blvd., just south of Tigard City Hall.The pedestrian sustained serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to OHSU. The driver of the vehicle involved remained at the scene and is cooperating with police. The incident closed Hall Blvd. to traffic in both directions during the peak of rush hour traffic. TVF&R arrived with Tigard Police officers and provided emergency medical care to the victim. Police have not been able to confirm the identity of the man as he was not carrying any identification. Darkness and heavy rain at the time of the crash was reported. The incident occurred in the area of a Fanno Creek Trail pedestrian crossing spanning Hall Blvd.  Tigard Police is presently investigating the incident.

Deputies Searching For Missing Endangered Juvenile from Cedar Hills

Washington Co. Sheriff's Office  - 12/17/18  UPDATE- The missing juvenile returned home around 8:30 p.m. this evening. The original media release is below On December 17, 2018, at 6:41 p.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of a missing juvenile in the 13500 block of Southwest Jenkins Road in the Cedar Hills community. Deputies learned a family member had come home around 4 p.m. and discovered their son, 15-year-old son, Jimmy Martinez, was not there. He was last seen around 11 a.m. at his residence. Jimmy is diagnosed with autism and his family is concerned he will be unable to find his way home on his own. Jimmy is described as a Latino boy, 5-foot-11 tall, 130 lb, with medium length brown hair. He was last seen wearing a black zip-up sweatshirt over a white t-shirt, black pants, black Adidas shoes, and a black baseball cap with a yellow Pittsburgh Pirates “P” on it. Death Investigation downtown Bend

Bend Police Dept.  - 12/17/18 On December 16th at 2:45am, officer with the Bend Police Department responded to a parking lot on the SE corner of NW Newport and NW Wall Street for the report of a person found on the ground. A community member found a person on the ground in the parking lot, who was later determined to be deceased. Bend Police Detectives responded and have been investigating this incident since early morning of December 16th. It was determined very early in the investigation that there was no threat to the community. This investigation is currently ongoing.

Motel owners arrested for Arson in Creswell - Lane County

Oregon State Police  - 12/17/18 On Thursday, November 22, 2018 (Thanksgiving Day) at 9:23 P.M, South Lane Fire Department, Goshen-Pleasant Hill Fire Department, Dexter Fire Department, and Eugene-Springfield Fire Department responded to the Super 8 Motel located at 345 Oregon Avenue, in Creswell for a fire.  Upon arrival the fire was discovered and extinguished.  On Saturday, November 24, 2018, at 1:42 AM a fire was reported at the same location. The fire departments again responded and extinguished the fire.  Due to the suspicious nature of the fires, the Oregon State Police Arson Unit was requested to assist in the investigation.  Arson  Detectives responded and led a joint origin and cause Investigation with the South Lane Fire Department and Lane County Sheriff’s Office.  The fire was determined to be incendiary and intentionally set.  Following an investigation, detectives learned the owners of the Super 8 Motel franchise, Inder Singh and Satinder Singh, intentionally planne

Statement from Chief Outlaw Regarding Oregonian Story

Portland Police Bureau  - 12/16/18  An Oregonian article: "2 Years in, Mayor Wheeler struggles with power, allies and promises" contained inaccuracies that need correcting.  The article said: "Wheeler and Outlaw separately gave interviews to reporters beforehand. Wheeler said the plan was Outlaw's idea, but she promptly responded that was not the case, saying the plan 'came from the mayor's office.'"  What was shared with the reporter, but was left out of the article, was that my response also stated that, after the August 4th demonstration, I asked Mayor Wheeler for additional tools as it related to addressing violent, disruptive behavior during recent protests. The Mayor's Office worked with the City Attorney's Office to draft an ordinance to address my request.  While I did not draft the ordinance, I was in full support of the ordinance, as I testified and I have consistently publicly stated.
