Attempted Child Abduction Reported in Aloha

Washington Co. Sheriff's Office On Sunday, June 16, 2019, at 7:50 p.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the report of an attempted child abduction in the 15600 block of SW Blanton Street in Aloha. When deputies arrived, they contacted family members of a three-year-old child. The family members reported they were enjoying a family gathering when they realized they hadn’t seen the boy for about five minutes. When they went looking for him, they saw him being led away by the arm by an unknown Caucasian male in his thirties. Family members yelled for the child and the man released the boy, unharmed, before running west on SW Blanton Street. The boy’s father chased the man on foot, but lost him. Deputies also searched the area and did not locate the suspect. Other witnesses saw an unknown African-American man in the area at the same time. Corvallis Women Arrested for Attempted Assault with a Knife

Corvallis Police On June 16th, 2019, at 11:17pm, Corvallis Police Department Officers were dispatched to the 400 block of SW 1st Street in Corvallis for a report of a female holding a male at knife point.  Officers arrived and found the female suspect, identified as Patricia Compton (39) of Corvallis, holding a knife to the throat of the male victim.  Compton dropped the knife when ordered by officers, and was taken into custody without incident.  The male, who is known to Compton, was not injured.  Officers learned the incident started over an argument about a bag of empty beverage cans.  The argument escalated into Compton pulling out a folding knife and using it to threaten the victim, and attempting to stab him with the blade.  Compton was transported to the Benton County Jail where she was booked on charges of Attempted Assault I, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and Menacing with a bail amount of $187,500.

Corvallis Women Arrested for Arson I

Corvallis Police On June 15th, 2019, at 3:18am, Corvallis Police Department Officers, along with Corvallis Fire, were dispatched to the area of the Corvallis BMX track at 115 SE Chapman PL for a report of a large fire.  Responders arrived and found the fire burning adjacent to two illegal campsites. Corvallis Fire Department was able to extinguish the flames.  Officers determined that there had been two fires set, one of which was extinguished by a male who had been sleeping in a tent a few feet from one of the fires.  He had several items of personal property damaged in that fire, and was able to provide a suspect name.  The other fire was near a second campsite which was unoccupied at the time.  No persons were injured as a result of the fire. Trespassers Arrested in Stolen Pickup

Jackson Co. Sheriff's Office TALENT, Ore. – Two men reported to be trespassing near Talent on Monday morning were found in a pickup reported stolen near Central Point four days earlier.  Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) deputies arrested both men and found additional stolen property in the vehicle.  On June 17, 2019, at 5:42 a.m., a resident in the 6800-block of Wagner Creek Road reported a suspicious vehicle parked on her property with two men inside.  Deputies responded to the scene, with assistance from Talent Police.  They found Jacob Steven Emerson, 37, and Dane Michael Burke, 24, inside the vehicle.  Both were taken into custody without incident. The vehicle, a brown 1977 Chevrolet pickup, had been reported stolen on June 13 during a burglary at a vacant home in the 4000-block of Old Stage Road.  Items taken in the burglary, as well as other stolen property, were recovered from the vehicle.  The owners of the stolen property were contacted. Douglas County Sheriff's Office On Friday, June 14, 2019, at 8:30 pm, deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 100-block of Kestrel Ln. When deputies arrived, they located items in the yard of the residence and indications that a crawl space cover had been removed. Deputies requested the assistance of K9 Grim. The K9 team arrived on scene and began a track which took them to a field on the property. K9 G rim located a man hiding in the nearby brush. The man was identified as 30 year-old Washington County (OR) resident, Kaleb Ray Abraham. Abraham was wanted on two felony warrants for his arrest. He told deputies he ran when he saw the police car pulling up. He was lodged at the Douglas County Jail on the warrants and a charge of trespass. K9 Grim, a 7 year-old German Shepherd, has been with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office since 2013. Man dies in traffic crash near Toledo, driver charged with numerous crimes

Sheriff's Office On June 15, 2019 at about 0251 hours Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputies, the Toledo Fire Department, and Pacific West Ambulance responded to a report of an injury traffic crash at about MP 1.5 on 1000 Line Road, Toledo.  1000 Line Road is a gravel mountainous roadway leading from the Toledo area into the forested coastal range.  Initial responders located the caller who was also a passenger from the vehicle, Brendon Thomas age 22 of Toledo, on the roadway.  They located the vehicle, a white Ford F350 Bearing OR plate 241 JQR, resting on it’s roof approximately 300 feet down a steep hillside.  Deputies were able to climb through debris and down the hillside to the vehicle where they located, Nikolas Yost, age 25 of Toledo, partially ejected from the vehicle and deceased. Robbery Arrest

Grants Pass Dept. of Public Safety On Friday, June 14th at approximately 7:40 PM, Grants Pass Police received an emergency call from the employees at the Dutch Bros. Coffee stand located at 251 NE Agness Ave. Employees reported the stand had just been robbed by a male subject purporting to be armed with a knife.  The suspect threatened employees, who complied with the suspect's demands.  After receiving cash from the Dutch Bros. employees, the suspect fled on foot.  Grants Pass Police, assisted by Oregon State Police set up a perimeter and began searching for the suspect.  About 15 minutes after the robbery, police received a phone call from the Los Taquitos Mexican Restaurant reporting a suspicious male inside.  Based on this information, police responded and contacted a male identified as 42 year-old Michael George.  From the investigation that followed, George was arrested for Robbery 2, and Menacing.  Nobody was injured during the course of the incident.  George was transpor

Oregon State Police looking for witnesses to fatal hit and run crash - Klamath County

Oregon State Police On Saturday, June 15, 2019, at approximately 3:47 AM, Klamath County 911 received a call of a man found in the middle of South 6th Street at the intersection with Gary Street. Klamath County Fire District 1 responded to assist the man, who was later identified as Henry Rittenhouse, age 36, of Klamath Falls; however, he was pronounced deceased at the scene. On scene investigation determined that Mr. Rittenhouse had been struck by a vehicle that left the scene.  The suspect vehicle is gray in color; however, there are no additional descriptors of the vehicle that struck Mr. Rittenhouse at this time.   The Oregon State Police was assisted at the scene by the Klamath Falls Police Department, the Klamath County Sheriff's Office, Klamath County Fire District 1, and ODOT. Remains of Woman Missing Since 2015 Found in May in Fairview - Crime Stoppers Featured Case #18-25

Crime Stoppers of Oregon The Multnomah County Sheriff's Office, in partnership with Crime Stoppers of Oregon, is asking for the public's help with a missing person and death investigation.  In March 2015, Tiffany Bettis (also known as Melinda Smith) was reported missing. At the time, she maintained a home in Fairview, Oregon and also lived in Roseburg, Oregon. She was reportedly last seen at the Quality Inn in Gresham around March 2, 2015.  On May 20, 2019, human skeletal remains were located in the area of Northeast 223rd Avenue and Marine Drive in Fairview. The Medical Examiner's Office determined that the remains were that of Tiffany Bettis. The cause and manner of death remain under investigation.  According to investigators, Tiffany left behind three children and a large family. Bank Robbery at Bank of the West Lincoln City

Lincoln City Police On 06-14-19 at approximately 9:16 in the morning a male entered the Bank of the West in Lincoln City wearing what appeared to be a black balaclava, gray sweatpants, a black zip up style hoodie and gray and black hiking type shoes. The male pointed a firearm at two employees and was able to take an unknown amount of cash from the bank. The male is described as being around 5’5” to 5’7” and weighing around 140-170 pounds with blue eyes. Linn County Sheriff's Office Investigates Sweet Home Fatal Crash

Linn County Sheriff's Office Linn County Sheriff Jim Yon reports Wednesday, June 12, at 11:45 a.m., the Linn County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a missing person.  The mother of Jordan Thein, 19, called to report that her son had not been heard from since Tuesday morning and did not show up to work in Millersburg on Wednesday.  She was concerned that Jordan may have driven off the road on his way home.  Jordan lived on Upper Calapooia Drive.  Deputies checked the roadways and initially did not see any signs of a vehicle driving off the road.  Deputies used cell phone location coordinates to narrow down where his phone was last located.  The vehicle, a 1989 Toyota pickup, was located not far from his residence on Upper Calapooia Drive, crashed into some trees.  Jordan had been ejected from the vehicle and was deceased when found. Newport Police Dept. On June 6, 2019, the Street Crimes Response Team (SCRT) arrested Jason McNeely after many months of compiling evidence, regarding his involvement with buying and selling illegal narcotics.  The SCRT spotted McNeely driving and coordinated with the Newport Police K9 Team and conducted a traffic stop on McNeely’s vehicle.  Officers on scene quickly noticed a restricted weapon that McNeely wasn’t allowed to have in his possession. McNeely was detained at this point.  Officer Randall had his canine partner, Nero, search the vehicle and Nero gave several alerts indicating the presence of narcotic odor emitting from the vehicle.  A subsequent search revealed the finding of Methamphetamine and drug packaging materials as well as a large amount of U.S. currency. Grants Pass Dept. of Public Safety On June 13, 2019 at approximately 1218 hours 911 dispatchers received a call of a possible assault which had just occurred at the Grants Pass Fred Meyer.  The suspect was reported to have fled on foot from the area.  Responding officers located the victim in the parking lot of Fred Meyer.  The victim was unresponsive and determined to be deceased.  Approximately 12 minutes after in the initial call, Grants Pass Department of Public Safety Officers located Mr. Rolando Rivas Jr (see below picture) a short distance away.  Mr. Rivas was detained without incident.  Grants Pass Department of Public Safety Detectives were called to investigate the incident.  Mr. Rivas was transported to the Josephine County Jail and lodged on the charge of Murder in the 1st Degree.  The victim in this incident is a 26 year old male.  The identity of the victim will be released once family notification has been completed.  Both the victim and suspect are residents o

Traffic Stop Yields 2.6 pounds of Methamphetamine and Arrest

Sheriff's Office REEDSPORT, Ore.  - A California man is in custody in the Douglas County Jail on drug charges following a traffic stop Tuesday night.  Shortly after 9:00 pm, a deputy conducted a traffic stop on a 2001 Audi on Highway 38 near milepost 2 after observing a traffic violation. Deputies observed evidence of delivery of controlled substances. Deputies requested the assistance of Reedsport Police Department's drug detection K-9, JD. K-9 JD indicated to the presence of controlled substances. Subsequently 2.6 pounds of methamphetamine was located within the vehicle. Two vehicle fatal crash on Hwy 42 - Coos County

Oregon State Police On Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at approximately 4:48 A.M. Oregon State Police and emergency personnel  responded to a report of a two vehicle collision on Highway 42 near milepost 8.  Preliminary investigation revealed that a Honda Pilot, operated by Jonathan Moore (29) of North Bend, was westbound when for unknown reasons crossed into the eastbound lane and collided with a Chevrolet Tahoe, operated by Kaci Baker (25) of North Bend.  The Chevrolet Tahoe caught fire after the collision. Moore sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased. Baker was extricated by a witness and transported by ambulance to Bay Area Hospital for injuries. OSP was assisted by the Coos County Sheriff's Office, Coquille Police Department, Coquille Fire Department, Myrtle Point Fire Department, Millington Fire Department, and ODOT.

Registered nurse accused of placing hidden camera in employee-only bathroom

Multnomah Co. District Attorney's Office Today, Multnomah County District Attorney Rod Underhill announced that 40-year-old Wade Eugene Little, a registered nurse, was charged with placing a hidden camera inside a workplace bathroom at the Providence ElderPlace Laurelhurst facility. Little is charged with two counts of invasion of personal privacy in the second degree and three counts of attempted invasion of personal privacy in the second degree. Little was arraigned June 11, 2019. This investigation started on February 21, 2019 when a female nurse working at the Providence ElderPlace Laurelhurst facility used the employee-only bathroom, according to court documents. While in the bathroom the female nurse noticed a box of latex gloves sitting on top of the toilet. The female nurse picked up the box because she believed it was out of place, according to court documents. UPDATE-Private Plane Crashes in Medford, Oregon

Otis, Oregon Man Sentenced to Eight Years in Federal Prison for Distributing Child Pornography Using Dropbox

U.S. Attorney's Office - District of Oregon PORTLAND, Ore.—William Borges, 21, of Otis, Oregon, was sentenced today to 96 months in federal prison and five years’ supervised release for distributing child pornography. According to court documents, investigators identified Borges in September 2016 as part of an ongoing investigation by the FBI’s Sacramento Field Office into the use of Dropbox, a cloud-based file sharing application, to distribute media depicting the sexual exploitation of children. A federal search warrant issued to Dropbox produced the email address Borges used to create a Dropbox account identified by investigators as containing child pornography. Investigators later matched three video uploads to Dropbox depicting the sexual abuse of young children to the IP address of Borges’ home in Otis. Grants Pass Dept. of Public Safety On Saturday March 23rd shortly before noon, Josephine County Jail Inmate Justin Denney escaped from the Josephine County Jail. The Grants Pass Department of Public Safety (GPDPS) is requesting assistance in locating a young, white female suspected to be in her late teens to early 20s, who was accompanied a small white juvenile. This young female was accosted by Justin Denney in the middle of Walmart’s front parking lot as he was attempting to steal her vehicle. Douglas Interagency Narcotics Team (DINT) On Friday, June 7th, 2019, the Douglas Interagency Narcotics Team conducted a surveillance operation that ultimately ended with the arrest of 43 year old Walter Maureceo-Hernandez of Salem, Oregon on numerous high level drug charges. Maureceo-Hernandez had traveled to Oregon from California on a bus line, and was dropped off in Roseburg.  I-5 is a major drug trafficking corridor, and bus lines are just one of the many methods drug traffickers use to transport their contraband.  After being dropped off, Maureceo-Hernandez entered another vehicle and DINT detectives conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle in the 2500 block of NE Stephens Street in Roseburg, at approximately 2:00 PM.  Roseburg Police Department's drug detection K-9 "Trapper" was applied to the vehicle and he alerted, indicating the odor of contraband was coming from inside the vehicle.   Detectives searched the vehicle and found a backpack in the trunk b

Police Seek Public's Help to Identify Suspicious Person

Gresham Police Dept   Gresham, Ore.— Yesterday at approximately 6:15 p.m. an 11-year-old female was walking her dog on the westside of NE 162nd AVE near NE Hoyt ST. At this time, a dirty blue, 4 door Dodge pick-up truck with a blue canopy, drove along side of her. The driver offered the female “treats” for her and her dog if she would get inside of the truck. The vigilant juvenile declined the subject’s offer, ran back to her home and alerted family members who called police. The subject was described as a white male, 60 – 70 years of age, with light colored straight shoulder length hair. He was clean shaven and had a black eye patch over his left eye. The subject was wearing a black and grey flannel shirt. The subject left the area in an unknown direction of travel. This is a good reminder for parents to talk to their children about what to do when confronted with this type of situation. One Dead, One Missing in Lost Creek Lake

Jackson Co. Sheriff's Office TRAIL, Ore. – One man died, and another man is missing and presumed dead, following a boating incident on Lost Creek Lake on Sunday night.  Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) marine patrol deputies and search and rescue (SAR) personnel are continuing the search for the missing man Monday morning. On June 9, 2019, at 7:53 p.m., dispatch received a 911 call from a woman at Lost Creek Lake reporting two men had drowned.  Jackson County Sheriff’s Office marine patrol deputies, along with personnel from Fire District #4 and Mercy Flights, responded to the lake.  Several citizens also assisted on the water and on land.    Deputies located the first victim, Irving Fuentes, 25, unresponsive in the water.  A Fire District #4 rescue boat transported him to a waiting Mercy Flights ambulance at the Stewart State Park boat ramp.  He was transported to Providence Medford Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.  An investigator with the Jackson Cou

Crime Stoppers of Oregon The Portland Police Bureau and Portland Fire & Rescue, in partnership with Crime Stoppers of Oregon, is asking for the public's help to identify the suspect who started a fire at a Northwest Portland apartment complex.  On May 19, 2019, at approximately 4:30 p.m., an unknown suspect started a fire in the stairwell of a Northwest Portland apartment complex. Investigators do not believe that the suspect was a tenant but may have been a visitor. The suspect set fire to an item of clothing in the stairwell. There were no injuries as a result of the fire.  Surveillance images show that the suspect is a Black male, wearing a green shirt, black pants, a white baseball hat with the word "Worldwide" on the front, wearing over-the-ear headphones. Sheriff's Office On Friday, June 7, 2019, at 8:57 p.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies serving the City of Cornelius responded to two reports of a TriMet bus swerving within the travel lane. The callers reported the bus was travelling east on SW Baseline Road in Cornelius. It was also reported the bus served so far out of its lane, it forced a driver in the adjoining lane out of their lane as the bus continued toward Hillsboro. The bus was “out of service” and the driver was the only person on the bus. TriMet contacted the driver, later identified as 46-year-old Vanessa Krinker from NW Portland, and had her stop the bus. Sheriff’s Deputies contacted Ms. Krinker at SE Maple Street and 10th Street in Hillsboro. Sheriff’s Deputies conducted a DUII investigation and subsequently arrested Ms. Krinker for DUII and Reckless Driving. Officer Injured While Responding to a Welfare Check

Portland Police Bureau On Friday, June 7, 2019, at 8:07 p.m., Central Precinct officers responded to the area of Northeast 33rd Avenue and Northeast Sandy Boulevard to check the welfare of a female that was in the roadway attacking passing cars. Officers received information that the female was walking in the middle of the road with a large kitchen knife in her hand, which she eventually discarded.  An officer arrived on scene and located the suspect. The suspect failed to comply with commands and less lethal munitions were deployed, which were ineffective. The suspect attacked the officer and the officer deployed his Taser. At the same time, a security guard saw the officer under attack and the security guard deployed his pepper spray at the suspect. The suspect was ultimately taken into custody.  During the struggle, the officer suffered non-life-threatening injuries. On Saturday, June 08, 2019 at approximately 1356 hours, emergency responders were alerted to a report of a small engine aircraft crash in the 2300 block on Whittle Ave. in Medford.   Medford Fire & Rescue, Aircraft Rescue & Firefighting Department, Mercy Flights Ambulance, Jackson County Airport Authority and the Medford Police Department responded to the scene.  The preliminary investigation releveled that the pilot and one passenger left the Rogue Valley International Airport in Medford.  The pilot reported they were experiencing mechanical problems shortly after takeoff.  Upon attempting to circle back around and land, the aircraft crashed into a tree that was in the front yard of a residential home on Whittle Ave.  The adult male pilot and adult male passenger were transported to a local medical facility with minor injuries.  There were no additional injuries reported by persons on the ground. Oregon State Police On Saturday, June 8, 2019 at 6:54 A.M. Oregon State Police and emergency personnel responded to the report of a single vehicle commercial motor vehicle crash (CMV) on Interstate 5 at the 233 exit off ramp. Preliminary investigation reveals that a CMV, operated by Steven Howard (58) of Salem, was northbound on I 5 when for an unknown reason he drove directly into the impact barrier between the NB travel lanes and Exit 233 off ramp. The CMV skidded and rolled onto its side on the exit lane. The CMV and a large debris field completely blocked the off ramp and both NB lanes. Howard was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital with serious injuries. Responding personnel from OSP, Albany Fire, and ODOT were able to open the NB lanes of travel after approximately 45 minutes.  Hazmat team responded to contain the spill and the clean up and recovery will be ongoing.

Two vehicle fatal crash on Hwy 199 - Josephine County

Oregon State Police  On Friday, June 7, 2019 at approximately 7:08 A.M. Oregon State Police and emergency personnel responded to the report of a two vehicle crash on Hwy 199 near milepost 8.5. Preliminary investigation revealed that a black Toyota Prius, operated by Keith Jones (69) of Crescent City, CA , was traveling southbound on Hwy 199 when it collided with a red Toyota Prius, operated by Carol Worden (64) of Grants Pass, which was traveling northbound on Hwy 199.  Both drivers were transported to Three Rivers Hospital.  Jones was pronounced deceased at the hospital and it is believed he experienced a medical emergency before the crash.  Jones' dog also died as a result of the crash. OSP was assisted by ODOT.

Suspect Captured by K9 Grimm

Roseburg Police Dept. On Friday, June 7th, 2019 at approximately 1217 hours during a crosswalk safety enforcement event on SE Pine Street near SE Spring in Roseburg, a Roseburg Officer attempted to stop a white Dodge Neon for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.  The vehicle failed to yield and ended up driving on a dead end street at the south end of SE Cobb.  The vehicle didn't stop, but drove over a rock wall embankment, and landed in the parking lot of the Parrott House.  The driver exited the vehicle and ran from the scene toward a brushy area by the creek. Officers quickly established a perimeter and called for the assistance of Douglas County Sheriff's Office K9 Grimm and his handler.  K9 Grimm started tracking the suspect through the brush and down the creek.  A short time later the suspect, 20 year old Marcus Burkhert, was discovered by K9 Grimm hiding in some brush.  Burkhert initially ignored commands to come out, so K9 Grimm made a biting capture of

Bicyclist Dies in Traffic Crash

Tigard Police On June 4, 2019 at 8:28pm, Tigard Police were dispatched to a fatal traffic crash involving an automobile and bicyclist near the area of 13770 SW Pacific Hwy and arrived on-scene at 8:31.   Based on witness statements and the investigation, the driver of a white, convertible Mazda Miata was traveling southbound on SW Pacific Hwy in the right travel lane. A bicyclist was also traveling southbound on SW Pacific Highway in the bike lane and then entered the right lane. The Miata struck the bicyclist, causing the individual to hit the pavement. By the time officers arrived, the adult-male bicyclist was deceased. The driver stayed at the scene and was fully cooperative with investigators. At this time, it has been determined that alcohol was not a factor in the crash. A Tigard Police Traffic Safety Officer, who is a member of a multi-agency Crash Analysis Reconstruction Team, is leading the investigation to determine the causation of this crash, including whether
