Forest Grove Police Officers Involved in Critical Incident

  Forest Grove Police   On October 7, 2020, at about 11:50pm, Forest Grove Police Officers responded to a welfare check near the intersection of Elm St. and 15th Avenue, in Forest Grove. A caller had reported a male with no shirt was “running up and down the street with a flag pole”. At about 11:58 pm an officer located the subject behind a church in the 1600 block of Elm Street. During the contact the subject was uncooperative, erratic, making threatening moves with the approximately 10 foot aluminum flag pole, and attempting to damage church property as officers attempted to deescalate the situation for several minutes. It appeared the subject was either suffering a behavioral health or narcotic induced episode. Fatal Crash on Hwy 101 - Coos County

  Oregon State Police  On Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at approximately 3:12 P.M., Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a single vehicle crash on Hwy 101 near milepost 258.  Preliminary investigation revealed a Toyota SR5 pickup, operated by Andrew Martin (35) from Coos Bay, was southbound when it went off the roadway and struck a tree. Martin was transported to Bay Area Hospital with serious injuries.  The passenger, Douglas Hansen (55) of Coos Bay, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased. OSP was assisted by Bandon Police Department, Coos County Sheriff's Office, Bandon Fire and Rescue, ODOT and Bay Cities Ambulance.

Arrest Made In Child Pornography Case

  Jackson Co. Sheriff's Office   On 4-15-2020, Jackson County Sheriff’s Office detectives received a case from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The NCMEC case was a report of child pornography being uploaded in the 400 block of  West Valley View Road in Talent, Oregon. The investigation continued over several weeks with assistance from the Talent Police Department; Medford Police Department; Albany, Oregon Police Department; Southern Oregon High Tech Crimes Task Force; The Department of Homeland Security  and the Montana Department of Justice. The investigation led to the issuance of a nationwide warrant signed by Jackson County Circuit Court Judge Lisa Greif for the arrest of the suspect in this case. The suspect had moved from Oregon to Montana during the case investigation. Fatal Motor Vehicle Crash

  Josephine Co. Sheriff's Office On Monday, October 5, 2020 at 9:54 am, Deputies from the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the intersection of Upper River Road and Pinecrest Drive for a motor vehicle crash involving two vehicles.  Upon arrival, it was determined that the driver and solo occupant of one involved vehicle was deceased at the scene.  Occupants of the other involved vehicle were not injured.  This case will be referred to the Deputy State Medical Examiner for further investigation.  The name of the deceased subject will not be released at this time as next of kin has not been contacted.

Homicide/Shooting Investigation

  Josephine Co. Sheriff's Office On Monday, October 5, 2020 at approximately 1:05 am, Deputies from the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the 4500 block of Redwood Avenue for a reported shooting.  Upon arrival, Deputies and Troopers from the Oregon State Police located a female who suffered gunshot wounds.  Deputies and Troopers were able to get the female to an ambulance for medical treatment.  While checking an associated marijuana grow, Deputies and Troopers located a male subject who had also suffered at least one gunshot wound.  The male subject was transported by ambulance but was later pronounced deceased.  Detectives from the Josephine County Major Crimes team are continuing to investigate this incident with Oregon State Police being the lead agency.  The Sheriff’s Office will not comment further regarding this investigation at this time.  

Fatal Crash on Interstate 5 - Jackson County

  Oregon State Police  On Sunday, October 4, 2020 at approximately 1:45 P.M., Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a vehicle crash on Interstate 5 near milepost 16. Preliminary investigation revealed that a Peterbilt semi-truck, operated by Trevor Logan (28) of Grants Pass, was southbound when it struck a pedestrian. Logan was not injured and is cooperating with the investigation. The pedestrian sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased.  Her name will be released when it is appropriate. OSP was assisted by ODOT and Jackson County Fire District #5.

SALEM POLICE INVESTIGATING DEATH AT SOUTH SALEM PARK

  Salem Police Dept. On Friday, October 2, 2020 at approximately 1:15 p.m. Salem Police officers responded to Minto-Brown Park on a report of hikers finding a deceased person. The deceased has been identified as Abigail Agustin Paz, age 19, of Wood Village. Investigators are still working to determine her cause of death. While a death in a public place may cause apprehension, please understand that this is an ongoing investigation and as such, we cannot release any further information at this time.
