Jackson County Sheriff's Office On 08/24/20 at 1646 hours,  Jackson County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a shooting in the 3300 block of Highway 227 north of Trail, Oregon. One victim was deceased at the scene from a gunshot wound. He was 25-year-old Steven Garrett Sutton. JCSO activated  the Major Assault and Death Investigation Unit (MADIU) to begin an investigation into the shooting. JCSO was the lead agency, and was assisted by detectives from Ashland Police, Medford Police, Central Point Police, The Oregon State Crime Lab and the Jackson County District Attorney's Office. On January 15, 2021, the investigation resulted in the arrest of Tommy Ray Ormsby, dob 07-24-72 of the 3300 block of Highway 227, Trail, Oregon. The victim was the nephew of the suspect. Ormsby has been lodged at Jackson County Jail on charges of Murder Second Degree, Manslaughter Second Degree and Criminally Negligent Homicide. His total bail is $1,000,000.

 Multnomah Co. District Attorney's Office PORTLAND, Ore. – Today, Multnomah County District Attorney Mike Schmidt announced the arrests of 33-year-old Mena Kamel and 28-year-old Marina Zaki who are accused of knowingly causing serious injury to two children by starvation and malnourishment. This case is being investigated by the Gresham Police Department and the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Multidisciplinary Child Abuse Team. Both children are under the age of six. Kamel and Zaki are charged with four counts of assault in the first degree and 14 counts of criminal mistreatment in the first degree. According to court documents, the starvation, malnourishment and criminal mistreatment occurred between September 1, 2018 and June 27, 2020. This investigation started on June 27, 2020 when one of the children suffered a critical injury that prompted a law enforcement and medical response to a residence in the 16400 block of East Burnside in Gresham.   U.S. Attorney's Office - District of Oregon EUGENE, Ore.—A former Eugene elementary school teacher pleaded guilty today for sexually abusing a minor female, announced U.S. Attorney Billy J. Williams. William Hamann, 38, pleaded guilty to one count of sex trafficking of a child. According to court documents, on several occasions beginning in 2018 and continuing until July 2019, Hamann paid a minor female for oral sex and recorded the minor performing the sex acts. The minor female was 15 years old during the first encounter with Hamman. Eugene Police Department detectives and FBI agents arrested Hamann on July 26, 2019, when he came to meet the minor a fourth time. Agents searched his mobile phone and found a recording of one of the sex acts. Hamman used social media to arrange the meetings with the minor. On August 21, 2019, a federal grand jury in Eugene returned a four-count indictment charging Hamann with sexual exploitation and trafficking of a child, possession of child porn

 Douglas Co. Sheriff's Office DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore.  - The Douglas County Sheriff's Office has been notified by Lumen Technologies (formerly CenturyLink) of a service disruption which is impacting residents in Camas Valley, Tenmile, Winston, Green, Myrtle Creek, Days Creek, Tiller and Milo due to a fiber line cut. The service disruption may affect the ability for residents in the area to reach 9-1-1 on a Lumen Technologies (CenturyLink) landline.  Residents may be able to get through to emergency services on a cellular telephone, if they have service. Some fire stations have also been manned with personnel.  At this time, there is no estimated time of repair. Additional details will be released as they become available. 

Eugene Police Department Eugene Police received an officer-safety bulletin regarding a suspect involved in a California officer-involved shooting and who has been targeting law enforcement. EPD contacted Riverside, California Federal Marshal's office and Corning Police Department in California.  The suspect, Garrett Roy Wilson, age 39, of Menifee, CA, had been reported to have broken into Corning Police Department’s  parking area and stolen a police short-barrel rifle from a secured Corning PD vehicle. Further information was given that Wilson was armed and dangerous and had targeted law enforcement officer residences to steal firearms.   On January 15 at 11:31 p.m., an EPD officer spotted the suspect’s vehicle driving the wrong way on W. 6th approaching his patrol vehicle.  The officer initiated a traffic stop and Wilson backed his vehicle away, into the McDonald’s parking lot.   Lincoln County Sheriff's Office On January 15, 2021, at approximately 5:17 pm, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch received a report of a missing person, last seen in the area of Bayshore, Waldport, Oregon. The missing person, identified as Toni L. Goessman, 60, of Waldport, was reported to be last seen walking her dogs approximately 2 hours prior. The caller, Mr. Goessman, reported Mrs. Goessman had left on a walk with their two Boxer breed dogs. Mr. Goessman became concerned when one of their two dogs returned by itself to their residence, soaking wet. Mr. Goessman drove around the area, looking for his wife. Mr. Goessman reported Mrs. Goessman regularly goes on walks with their dogs on the beach. Mr. Goessman was unable to search on foot due to limited mobility. Mr. Goessman reported it was out of the ordinary for Mrs. Goessman to be without their dogs. Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the area and conducted a preliminary search.   Lincoln County Sheriff's Office On January 15, 2021, at approximately 5:52 pm, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch received a 911 call reporting a stabbing that occurred on E Little Albany Loop, Tidewater, Oregon. The reporting party told Dispatch the victim was able to get away from the suspect and seek help from a neighbor. Dispatch received multiple calls during the response including one reporting the suspect’s location. Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene and detained Branden Michael Gross, 29, of Tidewater. After Mr. Gross was detained and the scene was secured, medics with Pacific West Ambulance and Central Oregon Coast Fire/Rescue assessed the adult female victim. The victim sustained multiple stab wounds in the midsection which were determined to be non-life-threatening. She was transported to Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital. Investigation determined the victim arrived home in the evening and found Mr. Gross upstairs, inside her home. The

 Oregon State Police On Wednesday, January 13, 2021, at approximately 10:45 A.M., Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a vehicle incident on Hwy 26 near milepost 32. Preliminary investigation revealed that Portland General Electric (PGE) employees were repairing damaged power lines on the north side of Hwy 26.  A PGE truck, operated by Joshua Rinard (41) of Sandy, was being repositioned when it backed into, Brenda Stader (50) of Portland, who was working as a flagger to assist with traffic control.  PGE was utilizing flaggers contracted through Northwest Traffic Control. Stader sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased. OSP was assisted by the Sandy Fire Department and ODOT.

 Roseburg Police Dept. We had the great honor today of wishing a happy birthday to a special Roseburg resident. We were told that John Couch is turning 100 years old tomorrow, January 14th. Mr. Couch is a World War II veteran and is currently living at Bridgewood Rivers Assisted Living in Roseburg. We had a vehicle processional with representatives from the Roseburg Police Department, Roseburg Fire Department, Oregon Army National Guard's Charlie Company, and several of Couch's friends.  Gresham Police Dept Gresham, Ore. - The East County Major Crimes Team is investigating a shooting that happened late Tuesday night, resulting in two female adults being transported to the hospital.  Just after 7:18 p.m., multiple 911 callers reported hearing multiple gunshots in the parking lot of the Extended Stay located at 17777 NE Sacramento St.    Arriving officers located the two victims at the scene. The investigation is continuing and there have been no arrests made in this case yet.   Detectives want to talk with anyone who saw or heard anything regarding this incident and are asking witnesses to call GPD Detective Aaron Turnage at 503.618.3136. No other information is available at this time.

  Multnomah Co. District Attorney's Office PORTLAND, Ore. – Today, Multnomah County District Attorney Mike Schmidt announced the arrest of 63-year-old John Ivezic as part of an ongoing human sex trafficking investigation. Ivezic is charged with one count of sexual abuse in the second degree, one count of sodomy in the third degree, one count of sexual abuse in the third degree and one count of purchasing sex with a minor. During this investigation, the Portland Police Bureau’s Human Trafficking Unit learned the identity of a person trafficking a young teenager. For privacy reasons, the teenager’s exact age is not being released. In February 2020, the trafficker received a 10 year prison sentence.  During the investigation, law enforcement identified Ivezic as someone who allegedly purchased sexual contact with the young teenager.   Grants Pass Dept. of Public Safety On 01-11-2021 at around 3:15pm, Detectives with the Rogue Area Drug Enforcement (RADE) Team, with the assistance of the Oregon State Police SW Region Marijuana Team, Oregon State Police and Grants Pass DPS Narcotic Detection K9, arrested Migueal Angel Jauregui-Hernandez. Jauregui- Hernandez is part of a drug trafficking organization (DTO) who was bringing large quantities of methamphetamine into Josephine County via California.  The investigation into this DTO has been ongoing by RADE for several months. Jauregui-Hernandez was stopped after being followed coming into Oregon from California. During the stop, GPDPS's Narcotic detection K9, Match, alerted to the vehicle having illegal controlled substances. During a subsequent search of the vehicle, detectives located 15.9 pounds of crystal methamphetamine.  Jauregui-Hernandez was taken into custody and lodged in the Jackson County Jail. Myrtle Creek Police Dept A 39-year-old Myrtle Creek woman has been reported missing.  Rachel Ruth Weathers was last seen on January 5, 2021 at around 5:30 AM.  It was thought that Weathers was driving to her residence in Myrtle Creek when she went missing.   Weathers is described as 4’11” tall and around 120 pounds.  She has brown hair and eyes.  She was last seen driving her blue 4-Door 2002 Chevrolet Malibu bearing Oregon license 288HRD.  If anyone has any information on Weathers and her whereabouts or has seen Weathers or her vehicle since January 5, please contact the Myrtle Creek Police Department at 541-440-4471.   Gresham Police Dept Gresham, Ore.— 40-year-old Andrew Beyer failed to return from his 30-minute walk this morning.  He was last seen leaving a medical facility in the 4100 block of NE Division St. in Gresham around 8:30 a.m.  His family is concerned for his safety and asks the public for their help.    Beyer is described as a 6 feet 2 inches white male and was last seen wearing a dark colored baseball hat, brown carhart jacket, and blue jeans.   Police is asking if you have seen him, please call police at 503-823-3333.

  Marion Co. Sheriff's Office At approximately 7:33 p.m. on Sunday, January 10, 2021, Stayton Police responded to the 300 block of W. Water St after receiving a suspicious circumstances call.  When officers arrived, they discovered a deceased woman inside of the residence with an apparent gunshot wound.  A man at the residence was detained by Stayton Police. The deceased woman has been identified as Karen Schaefer, 70, of Stayton.  The cause and manner of her death will be determined at an autopsy scheduled for Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at the Oregon State Medical Examiner’s Office. Brian Schaefer, 38, of Stayton is being charged with Murder 2 with a Firearm and Unlawful Use of a Weapon.
