COOS BAY MAN SENTENCED TO 30 YEARS IN FEDERAL PRISON FOR SEXUALLY EXPLOITING A 3-YEAR-OLD CHILD

U.S. Attorney's Office - District of Oregon EUGENE, Ore.—A Coos Bay, Oregon man was sentenced to federal prison today for producing sexually explicit images and videos of a 3-year-old child. Keith James Atherton, 33, was sentenced to 30 years in federal prison followed by a life term of supervised release. According to court documents, on July 13, 2018, an undercover agent from Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) viewed child sexual abuse material streamed on a video chat website. Less than 24 hours later, Atherton was identified as the perpetrator, located, and taken into federal custody. Further investigation revealed that Atherton had produced several sexually explicit images and videos involving a 3-year-old child. Investigators seized more than 10 digital devices from Atherton, containing at least 35,000 images and 8,000 videos depicting the sexual abuse of infants, toddlers, and young children. Oregon State Police On Friday, June 18, 2021 Oregon State Police assisted numerous agencies with the investigation of multiple homicides that occurred in Coos County. The suspect, Oen Nicholson,  traveled to Hwy 126, near Noti, in Lane County where the vehicle Nicholson was driving was ditched.  It is believed that Nicholson obtained a ride from someone in the Noti area to Springfield where Laura Johnson was abducted and taken to Wisconsin. Oregon State Police is requesting anyone with information or that might have given Nicholson a ride from Noti to Springfield to contact the Oregon State Police at 1-800-442-0776 or *OSP and leave information regarding OSP Case # SP21-166186.

DEPUTIES ARREST MANAGER AND BARTENDER OF TOP OF THE BOWL STRIP CLUB

Douglas Co. Sheriff's Office DRAIN, Ore.  - The manager and bartender of the Top of the Bowl Strip Club in Drain were arrested Saturday morning.  On Saturday, June 19, 2021, shortly before 3:30 am Deputies became aware that the business had been serving alcohol despite not holding an OLCC Liquor License.  The license had been surrendered earlier in the year after Top of the Bowl had been found in violation of regulations and the license had been suspended. Oregon law specifically outlines illegal sales of alcohol, including membership fees, without a license.  Deputies contacted the manager, Richard Morin and the owner/bartender, Jamie Hennricks at the business. Deputies confirmed alcohol was being served and "tips/donations" were being accepted for the alcohol, however there was a "suggested" amount. Jackson Co. Sheriff's Office Case 21-3201 WHITE CITY, Ore. – A single-engine aircraft crashed this weekend in Sam’s Valley, Ore., killing the sole occupant. Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) deputies and personnel from Fire District #3 were called to the scene of a small, single-engine Piper Tri-Pacer aircraft crash Sunday afternoon at the Beagle Sky Ranch Airport in White City, Ore. The aircraft went down while attempting to land at approx. 2:55 p.m., killing the aircraft’s pilot, Henry Levin, 80, of Medford, Ore. Levin’s next of kin has been notified. The aircraft crashed in the backyard of a residence in the 15000 block of Jones Road in White City, Ore., clipping the top of several trees nearby. The crash ignited a small grass fire, which was quickly extinguished by citizens and Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF) personnel. DEPUTIES SEARCHING FOR MISSING 24 YEAR-OLD ELKTON MAN WITH DOWN SYNDROME

Sheriff's Office ELKTON, Ore.  - Deputies are actively searching for 24 year-old Brett Beckley who went missing from his residence in the 1000-block of Shad Road Monday morning.  On Monday, June 21, 2021 shortly before 4:15 pm, 9-1-1 dispatchers took a report that Brett had left his residence at approximately 2:00 am Monday morning in a light blue Yamaha golf cart with an aluminum diamond plated tool box in the back. He is described as 5'5'' 140lbs with brown hair and brown eyes. He was last known to be wearing a dark blue Patagonia fleece jacket, tie dye shirt, jeans and black Adidas shoes. Brett has down syndrome and is non-verbal.  Anyone with who has seen Brett or knows of his whereabouts is asked to call the Sheriff's Office at (541) 440-4471.

Oregon State Police On Monday, June 21, 2021 at approximately 2:45P.M., Oregon State Police, Salem Police Department and emergency personnel responded to a person with a gunshot near the northbound Interstate 5 off-ramp. The victim has been transported to the hospital. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male adult approximately 5’5 with a shaved or almost shaved head, mustache, wearing khaki pants and khaki shirt.  Last seen headed south armed with a firearm.  If you see anyone matching this description please call 911. Investigation is continuing – Law Enforcement is still active please avoid the area.

Gresham Police Dept Gresham, Ore.— Gresham Police is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a missing 72-year-old woman.  Linda McGuire was last seen today around 4:30 p.m.  Linda suffers from a cognitive learning disability, causing her to function at a four-year-old level.  She is described as a white female, approximately 4- feet-11-inches tall, 10 pounds with short brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing black shoes, red sweatpants, and a black t-shirt with red and green writing on it.  Linda is somewhat familiar with public transportation.   Anyone who knows of Linda’s whereabouts is asked to call 911.

North Bend Police Department   We have identified the suspect shown in the previously-released photographs pertaining to the three homicidal deaths that occurred yesterday in the City of North Bend in Oregon.   The individual has been identified as 30-year-old Oen Evan Nicholson (Oen in the correct spelling). He has been a resident of the State of California in the past and is believed to have been living in the North Bend area since at least last October. His current whereabouts are not known.   Oen Nicholson must be considered to be armed and dangerous. Anyone seeing him should not approach him and should immediately contact 9-1-1. Coos County District Attorney R. Paul Frasier also released the name of the deceased person in the trailer at the RV Park of The Mill Casino in North Bend. He is identified as 83-year-old Charles Simms Nicholson. Springfield Police Department   On June 19th, 2021 at 0801 hrs, the Springfield Police Department was contacted regarding a missing person.  The missing person was identified as Laura Johnson.  Johnson was last seen at her place of employment in Springfield exiting the location on June 18th, 2021 at about 1230 hrs.  She walked to her vehicle and left the area for her lunch break.  Johnson never returned back to work and has not been heard from since.  She was last seen wearing a pink/salmon colored shirt with a black undershirt, black capris, bright purple tennis shoes, a green lanyard with keys hanging around her neck, and a black/red face mask.  She was seen driving a black 2008 Honda CR-V with Oregon License plate “708MGA”.  There is a Deadpool sticker on the rear window.   Anyone with information regarding her whereabouts is asked to contact the Springfield Police Department at 541-726-3714. North Bend Police Department This is an update from the press conference from yesterday afternoon pertaining to the events in North Bend, Oregon on Friday, June 18, 2021. Davidson. The persons from the hit and run incident at the RV Park at the Mill Casino are a married couple and are identified as: The deceased is identified as 74 year old Florida resident Anthony Oyster; and The injured person is identified as 73 year old Florida resident Linda Oyster. Ms. Oyster was transported to River Bend Hospital in Springfield. At last report this morning she remains in critical condition. AUTHORITIES SEARCHING FOR ARMED SUBJECT AT LARGE IN NOTI

Sheriff's Office On 06/18/21 shortly after 12:00pm, the Oregon State Police and Lane County Sheriff’s Office responded to the report of a vehicle crash on Hwy. 126 near milepost 39 in Noti.  The driver of the involved vehicle, a white Dodge 243LWL, was no longer on scene when authorities arrived.  This vehicle is believed to be linked to the homicides that occurred in the North Bend area earlier today. The suspect in this case is described as a white male adult standing approximately 6’02” and weighing approximately 200lbs.  He was further described as having short hair and wearing a dark colored t-shirt and blue jeans.  He is to be considered armed and dangerous.  Residents in the area are asked to shelter in place and to immediately report any suspicious activity to authorities. SHOOTING INCIDENT

Grants Pass Dept. of Public Safety On June 11, 2021, at approximately 11:00pm, officers from the Grants Pass Department of Public Safety responded to the 200 block of Grandview Avenue for a report of multiple shots fired. Officers quickly checked the area for any victims and the suspect(s).  Officers confirmed there were no injuries.   GPDPS Detectives responded to the scene to conduct further investigation.  This investigation is in its early stages with detectives continuing to follow up all leads.  Further information will be relayed as it becomes available.  On June 17, 2021, Detectives with GPDPS served a warrant at 1849 Harbeck Road in connection to the June 11th shooting.  During the course of the warrant service, Detectives were able to obtain evidence linking William "Brodie" Miller to the shooting at the intersection of Harbeck Road and Grandview Avenue.    At the time of the warrant service, Miller was in custody at the Josephine County Jail on an unrelated manner.

TIGARD MAN ARRESTED IN SEX ABUSE CASE

Washington Co. Sheriff's Office In May of 2021, Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to reports of a sex abuse case that took place near a hospital in Portland. The victim reported that she was sexually abused by 58-year-old Jerry Nesseth, of Tigard, back in 2019. Mr. Nesseth was originally arrested in this case on May 12, 2021 for sex abuse in the third degree, but has since been indicted on sex abuse in the first degree, a Measure 11 crime. Mr. Nesseth knew his victim through his work with a local church and most recently has worked as a “rafting missionary” with an organization called Oregon Adventure Ministries. Deputies are concerned that Mr. Nesseth has had contact with several young women through this ministry and are asking any other victims to report any abuse to law enforcement. North Bend Police Department Police are actively looking for a vehicle believed to be linked to two crime scenes in North Bend. District Attorney R. Paul Frasier said police are looking for a white 2019 Dodge 3500 with Oregon license plate 243LWL. “If anyone sees the truck, we don’t want them to approach it,” Frasier said. “Call 9-1-1 immediately.” 

ILLEGAL MARIJUANA SEARCH WARRANTS

Josephine Co. Sheriff's Office On June 17, 2021, search warrants were executed as part of an investigation of illegal marijuana grow operations in Selma and Cave Junction, Oregon.  Members of the Josephine Marijuana Enforcement Team (JMET) served the search warrants in partnership with Oregon State Police, Grants Pass Department of Public Safety, Rogue Area Drug Enforcement (RADE, consisting of Grants Pass DPS, OSP and Josephine County Parole and Probation), Illegal Marijuana Enforcement Team (IMET, consisting of Jackson County SO and Medford PD), Southwest Regional Marijuana Team from OSP, Douglas Interagency Narcotics Team (DINT), Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), Josephine County Code Enforcement and the Josephine County District Attorney’s Office. JONTAY JOSEPH COX SENTENCED TO 90 MONTHS IN PRISON IN ATTEMPTED MURDER CASE

District Attorney's Office HILLSBORO, Ore.- On June 17, 2021, Jontay Joseph Cox pleaded guilty to second-degree attempted murder and was sentenced to 90 months in prison by Presiding Judge Beth Roberts. Senior Deputy District Attorney Jeff MacLean prosecuted the case against the defendant. In the early morning hours of April 21, 2021, the victim in this case noticed someone inside his car in an apartment complex parking lot located in Beaverton, Oregon. The victim went to investigate and found the defendant inside his vehicle. He confronted Mr. Cox and ordered him to get out of the car. Mr. Cox exited the vehicle and began to walk away. The victim then turned his back to the defendant so he could lock his vehicle when the defendant fired five rounds from a handgun towards the victim. One bullet struck the victim in the arm. Several other rounds hit the exterior of the apartment building. Fortunately, no one else was wounded and the victim eventually made a full recov
