380 Pounds of Marijuana Seized From Crashed Vehicle

Josephine Co. Sheriff's Office On September 19, 2021 at 4:09 am, Deputies from the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the intersection of Camp Joy Road and Saratoga Way for a motor vehicle crash involving one vehicle.  Upon arrival, Deputies found the vehicle unoccupied.  Witnesses stated two males fled the scene prior to law enforcement arrival.  Upon inspection of the vehicle, Deputies observed several bullet holes which had penetrated the occupant compartment.  Also in plain sight within the vehicle, Deputies observed firearms and a large amount of processed packaged marijuana.  The vehicle was seized and a search warrant was obtained and subsequently executed.  Located inside the vehicle were two firearms and 380 pounds of processed packaged marijuana with a street value of approximately $760,000. SEARCH WARRANT SERVED FOR AN ILLEGAL MARIJUANA OPERATION

Josephine Co. Sheriff's Office On Tuesday, September 21, 2021, members of the Josephine Marijuana Enforcement Team (JMET) in partnership with Oregon State Police, Rogue Area Drug Enforcement (Grants Pass DPS, OSP, Josephine County Parole and Probation) and Josephine County Code Enforcement; served a search warrant relating to an illegal marijuana grow operation in the 300 block of Mountain Greens Lane, Grants Pass. This is the site of the former Red Mountain Golf Course. During the execution of the search warrant, 4,537 illegal marijuana plants were seized and destroyed. Chen Shu-Momg, 34, and Qike Wen, 36, were arrested and lodged in the Josephine County Jail for Unlawful Manufacture of a Marijuana Item. Additionally, five other subjects were detained due to safety concerns. At the time of this press release, the investigation is ongoing and no further details are being released.

GRESHAM POLICE INVESTIGATING HOMICIDE IN PARKING LOT NEAR SE 182/W POWELL

Gresham Police Dept Gresham, Ore.— On September 20, 2021 at approximately 6:15pm, Gresham Police received a call about shots that were heard in the parking lot of the Walmart at 3900 W Powell boulevard, near SE 182nd. While police were still headed to the scene, multiple callers to 911 were reporting that someone in the parking lot had been shot, so medical crews were also requested. The victim, later identified as 38-year-old Dashawn Hudson, of Portland, died at the scene from his injuries. Detectives and crime scene investigators were called to the scene to interview witnesses and collect evidence in order to find out what lead up to this incident. Douglas Co. Sheriff's Office ROSEBURG, Ore . – The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is saddened to announce the sudden and unexpected passing of K9 Grim. Grim, a German Shepherd born in the Czech Republic on October 3, 2011, was acquired by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office in June 2013 after receiving a generous donation from an anonymous community member. Grim actively served the community faithfully until the day of his passing. Initially, Grim was partnered with then Deputy Jon Dorland. Following Dorland’s promotion, Grim was partnered with Deputy Oscar Rosas. Grim was successful with both handlers and paved the way for the Sheriff’s Office to expand its K9 program. During the course of his career, Grim had 111 finds and captures and assisted in 114 other incidents and arrests. PRESCRIBED BURNS STARTING SOON

Douglas Forest Protective Association As fire conditions moderate throughout the Umpqua Valley, fire officials with the Douglas Forest Protective Association will begin working with farmers, ranchers, and other landowners to conduct prescribed burns throughout the area. Prescribed burns may be conducted on fields, pastures, and hillsides to promote productive grazing lands for livestock and to improve habitat for wildlife, all while reducing the buildup of flammable vegetation. Burn permits for backyard debris burning, including both debris piles and burn barrels, will not be issued at this time. Over the last ten years, local landowner’s working with DFPA have completed an average of 3,400 acres of prescribed burns annually throughout the Douglas District. For many agricultural landowners, fire is used as a tool to prepare their lands for the next growing season by removing noxious weeds, brush, insects, and plant disease from their lands. FATAL CRASH ON HWY 126W-LANE COUNTY

Oregon State Police On Monday, September 20, 2021 at approximately 7:14 AM, Oregon State Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a four-vehicle crash on Hwy 126W near milepost 37.  Preliminary investigation revealed a Kenworth log truck, operated by Shane McVay (64) of Eugene, was eastbound when the loaded trailer tipped over. The trailer struck a westbound Toyota Prius, operated by Sarah Susman (25) of Springfield and a Dodge Ram towing a boat, operated by Randall Tokich (70) of Eugene. The Dodge Ram then struck an eastbound Ford Mustang, operated by Jordyn Tippett (20) of Coquille. Susman sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased. McVay and Tippett were transported to Sacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend with injuries. Tokich had minor injuries.  Hwy 126W is still currently closed.  OSP was assisted by Lane County Sheriff’s Office and ODOT.

DISPUTE IN REDMOND LEADS TO ARREST FOR ATTEMPTED MURDER

Deschutes Co. Sheriff's Office On September 18, 2021 at approximately 9:38 AM, Deschutes County Sheriff Office deputies responded to a reported dispute in the 900 block of NE King Way.  During the investigation it was determined that Marshall Angel was involved in a dispute with a female. Deputies gathered statements from the involved subjects and collected evidence from the scene. Based on the statements made and evidence gathered, there was probable cause to believe that Angel had committed the crimes of Attempted Murder II, Assault II, Coercion, Menacing, and Unlawful Use of a Weapon.  The female was taken to St. Charles Medical Center by ambulance.  Angel was transported to the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office Jail and lodged on the above mentioned charges.  The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office is a full service agency that oversees the adult jail, provides patrol, criminal investigations, civil process and search and rescue operations. Oregon State Police On Sunday, September 19, 2021, at approximately 9:53 PM, Oregon State Troopers and emergency personnel responded to the report of a vehicle vs bicyclist on Highway 99 near West Valley View Road in Talent.  Preliminary investigation revealed that a driver of a vehicle struck a bicycle, being ridden by Geoffry Sterling (44) of Ashland. The involved vehicle did not stay at the scene.  Sterling sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased.  Northbound traffic on Highway 99 was closed for approximately 3 hours . OSP was assisted on scene by Jackson County Fire, Talent PD, Phoenix PD, and ODOT.  OSP is requesting anyone with information regarding the crash or any information regarding the suspect vehicle to contact the Oregon State Police Southern Command Center at 1-800-442-2068 or *OSP and refer to Case #: SP21-268789. OSP FISH & WILDLIFE CITE POACHER FOR UNLAWFUL TAKE OF A BULL ELK- DOUGLAS COUNTY

Oregon State Police On September 2, 2021, Sr. Trooper Baimbridge responded to a report of a dead bull elk in the 2800 Block of Mehl Creek Road, Elkton, Oregon.  The bull had the head removed and the meat removed.  The elk had been shot by a rifle during the bow season.  The investigation revealed that Jase Billman (20) shot the bull from the roadway with a .270 caliber rifle then enlisted the help of 3 friends and family to pack it out.  Jase was issued a citation for Unlawful Take of Bull Elk and his rifle was seized along with the antlers and meat from the bull. The meat was able to be salvaged. FATAL MOTORCYCLE CRASH

Grants Pass Police Department On September 16, 2021, at about 2046 hours, dispatchers for the Grants Pass Police Department received reports of a motorcycle striking a fence.  Responding police officers located a single rider in the roadway in the 1200 block of Fruitdale Drive.  Personnel from Grants Pass Fire/Rescue and AMR also responded to the crash scene. From the investigation, it is believed the motorcycle had been traveling eastbound on Fruitdale Drive when it failed to negotiate the corner.  The deceased rider was identified as 66-year-old Robert Alan Lee. GRANTS PASS WOMAN ARRESTED FOR AGGRAVATED THEFT, FORGERY, AND ID THEFT

Grants Pass Police Department On Wednesday September 15, 2021, following a lengthy investigation, Grants Pass Police Detectives arrested Crysta McNair, a 42 year old woman, for 2 counts of Aggravated Theft, 3 counts of First Degree Forgery, 2 counts of Computer Crimes, and 3 counts of Identity Theft. Detectives found that during an approximate 1 year period McNair forged at least 110 checks and conducted fraudulent bank transfers to steal over $142,000.00 from an elderly relative. Crysta McNair was lodged at the Josephine County Jail. GRANTS PASS CARJACKING SUSPECT ARRESTED AND IDENTIFIED

Grants Pass Dept. of Public Safety On Tuesday 09/14/21 at approximately 9:58 AM, Grants Pass Police Officers responded to the Safeway parking lot on SE 7 th  Street regarding a woman being robbed of her vehicle and being dragged across the parking lot. Officers arrived within minutes to find the victim and her passenger had both received minor injuries when pulled from the vehicle by the suspect. The suspect had fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle, which is described as a 2008 Hyundai SantaFe. The stolen vehicle information was immediately sent to surrounding police agencies. The investigation revealed the suspect had been inside Safeway just before the robbery where his image was captured by surveillance cameras.  At approximately 12:24 PM the Grants Pass Police Department was advised the California Highway Patrol was in pursuit of the vehicle southbound on I-5 in the Mt. Eugene Springfield Fire Springfield, OR.  Eugene Springfield Fire crews are on scene of a house fire on the 1200 block of West Olympic St.  Arriving firefighters found a fire on the back of the house that had extended to the attic.  Windy conditions provided challenges in the fire attack, but crews were able to keep the fire contained to the attic space.  one occupant was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.  The cause is under investigation. 

EXPLOSION IN TROUTDALE UNDER INVESTIGATION

Sheriff's Office On Monday, September 13, 2021, at 2:19 a.m., Multnomah County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the 600 block of Southeast 42 nd  Circle in Troutdale after callers reported a loud explosion and vehicle fire in the area. Deputies arriving at the scene located the vehicle. Gresham Fire Department responded to the scene and extinguished the fire. Upon further investigation, a person was located inside the burned vehicle. The individual, an adult male, was pronounced dead at the scene.  MCSO detectives are being assisted by the Multnomah County Medical Examiner’s Office, Gresham Police Department Explosives Disposal Unit, Gresham Fire Investigators and Special Agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). ATF is providing a certified explosives specialist, a certified fire expert and an explosives detection K9. Missing Person – William Harold Specht

Eugene Police Department   Eugene Police and a local family are asking for the public’s help locating an at risk missing man. Williams Harold Specht, has alzheimers and left his home in the Gilham and Crescent areas around 4:57 p.m. today, September 11 in a vehicle. It is unknown where he may have gone. He has not been able to drive, and will not be able to find his way home on his own.  Specht is a white male, age 77, 5’8” tall, 220 pounds and very thin grey, slicked-back hair. He has a short, grey beard and wears glasses. Oregon Military Department PORTLAND, Ore. – The Oregon Air National Guard’s 142nd Wing will conduct 9/11 memorial flyovers this Saturday, Sept. 11, 2021 in Vancouver, Wash. and Albany, Ore. According to Colonel David Unruh, 142nd Wing Commander, these flyovers give the wing a chance to reflect. “It’s a privilege to remember all of those who were lost on 9/11. SHOOTING INVESTIGATION

Roseburg Police Dept. On September 9th, 2021 at about 8:00 PM, officers with the Roseburg Police Department responded to the 1300 block of SE Magnolia Street after it was reported John Kliestik (39) was attempting to light his parent’s home on fire while they were inside the residence. Officers on scene verified there were fires inside the residence and attempted to make contact with the occupants of the residence and make the scene safe. The officers were confronted by Kliestik, who presented an imminent threat to his parents and to the officers, resulting in an officer involved shooting; one officer discharged their firearm, striking Kliestik in the leg. The officers were able to secure Kliestik, render aid, and extinguish the fires within the home. Roseburg Fire Department and ambulance services responded and provided further medical care to Kliestik, whom was transported to Mercy Medical Center and is being treated for non-life threatening injuries. Sheriff's Office On Thursday, September 9, 2021, members of Josephine Marijuana Enforcement Team (JMET) in partnership with Rogue Area Drug Enforcement (Grants Pass DPS, OSP, Josephine County Parole and Probation), Bureau of Land Management and Josephine County Code Enforcement; served search warrants relating to illegal marijuana grow operations in the 6000 block of Caves Highway and 5000 block of Holland Loop Road, outside of Cave Junction, Oregon. During the execution of the search warrants, 7,600 illegal marijuana and hemp plants were seized and destroyed. Additionally, 5,000 pounds of processed marijuana was seized and destroyed along with 200 pounds of illegal cannabis extract.  Also seized were 19 firearms and approximately $210,000 cash. (Side note: the cash, which is subject to forfeiture, can only be used for training and equipment, not personnel.) AIRIAN JOVAN MISURACA SENTENCED TO LIFE IN PRISON IN CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE CASE

Washington Co. District Attorney's Office HILLSBORO, Ore.- On September 8, 2021, Washington County Circuit Court Judge Erik Buchér sentenced 44-year-old Airian Jovan Misuraca to life in prison without the possibility of parole. Misuraca had been convicted by a jury in July of six counts of first-degree rape, nine counts of first-degree sodomy and four counts of first-degree sexual abuse. Senior Deputy District Attorney Allison Brown prosecuted the case against Mr. Misuraca.  “The defendant was unanimously convicted on every count. The jury was clearly impacted by the horrific abuse the child victim had to endure,” said SDDA Brown.   The defendant was facing a life sentence because he had been previously convicted twice of felony sex crimes against children. SDDA Brown urged the court to impose a true-life sentence based on the severity of the crimes, the defendant’s lengthy criminal history, and his lack of any remorse for his actions.   Judge Buchér ultimately agreed with these ar
