ONLINE SEXUAL CORRUPTION OF A CHILD

Josephine Co. Sheriff's Office On January 6, 2022, the Josephine County Sheriff's Office, in partnership with Oregon State Police, Grants Pass Police Department, Jackson County Sheriff's Office, United States Marshals Service, and Homeland Security, conducted a search warrant in the 9000 block of Takilma Road regarding online luring of a minor and an illegal marijuana operation. Meyer intended to meet a minor child for the purposes of a sexual relationship and to deliver marijuana to different minor.  Based on information obtained during the investigation Meyer was taken into custody and a search warrant was executed at his residence.  Christopher Meyer was arrested and lodged in the Josephine County Jail on the above listed charges. At the time of this press release, the investigation is ongoing, and no further details are being released at this time.

SHOOTING INVESTIGATION

Roseburg Police Dept. On January 6, 2022 at about 7:30 PM, officers with the Roseburg Police Department, Sutherlin Police Department and Douglas County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported shooting in the 2000 block of NW Stewart Parkway. The investigation revealed the incident stemmed from a conflict with two individuals who appear to be known to each other and there is no known ongoing threat to the public. The involved victim sustained minor, non life threatening injuries and the suspect has been taken into custody. The investigation is still active and more information will be released when available.

4 ADULTS ARRESTED FOLLOWING INVESTIGATION OF RESIDENTIAL ROBBERY, ATTEMPTED KIDNAPPING, AND FENTANYL

Grants Pass Police Department Grants Pass, Or. – On December 26, 2021, at approximately 6:28 PM, the Grants Pass Police Department responded to the 200 block of NW Blossom Drive to find two victims suffering from the effects of bear spray. One of the two victims had also been struck several times by rubber bullets during an attempted kidnapping and robbery. Due to the seriousness of the crime, Grants Pass Detectives responded to the scene to continue the investigation. Neither of the victims required hospitalization for their injuries and were not randomly targeted by the suspects. With the assistance of the Medford Police Department, the vehicle used by the suspects was located in Medford a few days later. Following the granting of a search warrant, Grants Pass Police Detectives, with the assistance of the Rogue Area Drug Enforcement Team and Grants Pass K-9 Match, recovered approximately ¼ pound (estimated 1,400 pills) of suspected Fentanyl concealed within the vehicle. DEVANNE JOSHUA BRANDERHORST SENTENCED TO 70 MONTHS IN COMMERCIAL SEXUAL EXPLOITATION CASE

Washington Co. District Attorney's Office HILLSBORO, Ore.- On December 29, 2021, 23-year-old Devanne Joshua Branderhorst pleaded guilty to compelling prostitution and second degree sexual abuse. On January 6, 2022, Washington County Circuit Court Judge Kathleen Proctor sentenced the defendant to a total of 70 months in prison. Senior Deputy District Attorney Allison Brown prosecuted the case against Mr. Branderhorst.  The case involved sexual assault and efforts to facilitate the prostitution of two victims, ages 17 and 18. Police first learned of the defendant’s crimes in December of 2019, after they were called to a disturbance at a house in Washington County, Oregon.  The defendant was at the residence with both victims and was providing them alcohol and prescription medication. He sexually assaulted the 18-year-old victim while she was intoxicated.  As part of the investigation, police learned the defendant was causing the 17-year-old victim to engage in prostitution. Stabbing In Myrtle Creek

Myrtle Creek Police Department On January 5, 2022 at about 4:47 PM, a call came in to the Douglas County 911 center regarding a disturbance where a male was reportedly stabbed in the leg.  The disturbance was reported to have been in the parking lot between Village Realty and Tommy’s All American Burgers, in the 100 block of South Main Street.  Officers from Myrtle Creek PD, along with deputies from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office all responded to the scene. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 44-year-old transient male who had a wound to his lower right leg.  The other subject, identified as a 34-year-old Tri City resident, had left the scene.  That male was later contacted by police.   EMT’s responded and transported the 44-year-old male to Mercy Medical Center with a nonlife threatening wound.  He was treated and released.   This investigation is still ongoing and active, so no further information will be released at this time.   If anyone was a witness to the altercation, we wo

Newport Credit Union Robbed

Newport Police Department On January 5, 2022, Newport Police Officers were dispatched to the TLC FIBRE Credit Union, located at 1625 N. Coast Hwy in Newport, Oregon, on a report of a robbery. The suspect was described as a white male adult approximately 5’6”, thin build, with dark colored hair. He was wearing a yellow colored bandana over his nose and lower face area. The suspect was wearing blue jeans and a blue plaid colored shirt under a black jacket, with a dark colored ballcap and white tennis shoes with a dark stripe. The suspect gave a note to the bank teller that demanded all of the money be placed into a bag, which he handed her. The suspect then fled from the store on foot in an unknown direction of travel with an unknown disclosed amount of cash. No injuries were reported as a result of this incident. PORTLAND AREA DRUG TRAFFICKER INDICTED FOR KIDNAPPING AND MURDER OF WASHINGTON STATE MAN

U.S. Attorney's Office - District of Oregon PORTLAND, Ore.—A federal superseding indictment was unsealed today charging a Mexican National residing in Clackamas County, Oregon for his role in the 2019 kidnapping and murder of a Washington State man and other drug trafficking crimes. Marcos Alonso Castillo-Bernal, 46, has been charged with conspiring to possess with intent to distribute and distribute controlled substances, killing while engaged in drug trafficking, distribution of heroin and methamphetamine, kidnapping resulting in death, conspiracy to commit kidnapping resulting in death, hostage taking resulting in death, conspiracy to commit hostage taking resulting in death, felon in possession of a firearm, and fraud and misuse of a visa.
