Deschutes Co. Sheriff's Office The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public for their assistance in identifying two subjects involved in numerous thefts from vehicles while they were parked at trailheads and day use areas throughout Deschutes County.  After the thefts the subjects have gone to Wal Mart in Bend and purchased gift cards using the stolen credit and debit cards.  The male has a tattoo on each forearm and a large tattoo on the right side of his neck. Jackson Co. Sheriff's Office   JCSO Case 22-4310 Update 7/29/22: JCSO detectives are continuing their investigation.  At this time the death appears to be non-criminal, and there is no evidence of homicide. The autopsy has been completed and further studies are pending, including toxicology reports. Next of kin has been notified, the decedent is Barbara Jane Esqueda, 50, of White City. There is no further information available for release. Original Release 7/26/22: WHITE CITY, Ore. - Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) detectives are investigating a suspicious death in the Dollar Tree parking lot on the 7300 block of Crater Lake Highway in White City. This case is active and ongoing with detectives working additional leads. Cause of death is pending an autopsy by an Oregon State Police forensic pathologist. The name of the decedent will be released pending notification of next of kin. There is no further information available at this time.

Oregon State Police On Friday, July 29, 2022, at approximately 2:13 A.M., Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a report of a pedestrian struck on State Route 140 near milepost 49. A Ford F-150 was traveling eastbound on State Route 140 when it struck a tow truck operator, who was outside of his tow truck retrieving a vehicle from the side of the highway. The tow truck operator, identified as Spencer Hughes (32) of Klamath Falls, was transported by ambulance but died en route. The investigation is ongoing. OSP was assisted on scene by Rocky Point Fire.

Multnomah Co. Sheriff's Office Around 12:30 p.m., Thursday, July 28, dispatchers received a 911 call from a man who said he was lost near Lewis and Clark State Recreation Area, near Corbett. The man stated he was in thick brush, off-trail and that he could see a series of powerlines. Multnomah County sheriff’s deputies responded to the area and determined the approximate location of the man based on open source satellite imagery. Deputies called the Gresham Police Department Drone Unit to assist in determining the exact location of the man. During this time, he was identified as 44-year-old Daniel Tyrone Graham. Based on the landmarks provided by Graham, Gresham drone pilots were able to spot him and pinpoint his coordinates. Dispatchers told Graham to stay in place. The Green Hornets, a team of MCSO deputies specially trained in quick trail deployments, hiked to the location. When they arrived, there was no signs of Graham. Douglas County Fire District #2 At 2:40 a.m. Friday morning Douglas County Fire District No. 2 units out of the Dixonville  station east of Roseburg were dispatched to a cell tower in the area of Robin Street for an individual that had climbed the tower and was now unable to climb down. The initial unit  arrived on scene with the Douglas County Sheriff's Office and determined that the department’s  rescue team would be needed to assist the individual down the 90-foot tall tower.  Douglas County Fire District No. 2’s Technical Rescue Team responded and after developing a  plan was able to safely return the individual to the ground. One rescuer was able to climb the  tower using safety equipment and after setting up a rope system was successful in lowering the  individual to safety with assistance from ground crews. Oregon State Police On Wednesday, July 27, 2022, the Oregon State Police’s Southwest Region Drug Enforcement Section team served an illegal marijuana search warrant in the 1600 block of Southside Rd. Grants Pass, Josephine County.   As a result, 3,114 illegal marijuana plants contained in five large greenhouses were located, seized, and ultimately destroyed.  Three individuals were detained at the scene; one adult male and two juveniles, all of whom have permanent addresses in New York.  Also seized during the investigation was one semi-automatic firearm with no serial number. Additionally, the property is subject to multiple code violations through Josephine County Code Enforcement for human waste, unpermitted structures (greenhouses), and dangerous excavation.  Josephine County will move forward with enforcement action against the property owner which could result in the property's closure for one calendar year (illegal drug cultivation) and possible civil forfeiture. Douglas Interagency Narcotics Team (DINT) On Tuesday, July 27th, at approximately 9:00 PM, detectives with the Douglas Interagency Narcotics Team (DINT), with assistance from the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 500 block of Stagecoach Road, in Canyonville, as part of an ongoing investigation.   Drug detection K-9 “Trapper” sniffed the exterior of the vehicle and gave an alert indicating the presence of narcotics inside.  Detectives searched the vehicle and found approximately 404 grams of suspected methamphetamine, and approximately 23 grams of suspected heroin.     The driver of the vehicle, 51 year old Randall Slay, of Myrtle Creek, was arrested and lodged at the Douglas County Jail. Slay was charged with unlawful possession, delivery, and manufacture of methamphetamine, as well as unlawful possession and delivery of heroin.  Being a parolee, Slay was also charged with a Parole Violation.  

Albany Fire Dept. Albany Fire’s Water Rescue Team responded to a report of a family in distress on the Santiam River in Jefferson, Oregon, on Wednesday July 27 th  at 7:14 P.M. AFD sent two Rescue Water Craft (RWC) and one ambulance with six firefighter/medics to the scene. Two adults and four children were rescued with minor injuries to two crew members.  AFD entered the Santiam River at I-5 and searched the river east for the family. A kayak with one adult male and three children were located together. The family was secure but only the children were wearing their life vests. Further up-river, crews located a female along a bank with a deep cut-out. There was no way to escape the river here. She was in distress, without a life vest, and clinging to vegetation roots. Firefighters were able to make the grab and secure the women to the RWC. U.S. Attorney's Office - District of Oregon EUGENE, Ore.—The owner of a Roseburg, Oregon in-home daycare facility pleaded guilty today in federal court for stealing federal childcare funds. Katie Jo Thompson, 31, pleaded guilty to one count of theft of government funds. According to court documents, Thompson cared for her disabled child while also operating a licensed childcare business out of her Roseburg residence. Thompson applied for various federal benefit programs administered by the Special Security Administration (SSA) on her child’s behalf. In these applications, Thompson misrepresented her household income, prompting an SSA investigation. The investigation revealed that Thompson had applied for and received federal Employment Related Day Care (ERDC) program funds administered by the Oregon Department of Human Services (Oregon DHS) to support her business. The ERDC program requires that childcare program operators maintain attendance logs for one year. When SSA investigato

Portland Police Bureau On 7/27/22 at approximately 8:17 p.m., Officers from the East Precinct responded to the 100 block of SE 126th Ave in the Hazelwood neighborhood. Multiple 911 callers had reported that a person was in the front yard of a house firing a gun. Call takers from the Bureau of Emergency Communications could hear shots being fired in the background of 911 calls. Officers arrived and requested assistance from the Focused Intervention Team (FIT). During this incident, an officer from FIT fired their weapon, striking the suspect. Paramedics were on scene to render aid but the suspect was declared deceased. The Mayor's office was notified of this incident. Assistant Chief of Investigations Jami Resch is on scene and said, "The level of violence officers have been responding to is unprecedented." Jackson County Sheriff's Office JCSO Case 22-2677, GPPD Case 22-18267 ROGUE VALLEY, Ore. - The Southern Oregon Child Exploitation Team (SOCET) joint inter-agency task force arrested two suspects yesterday on charges of encouraging child sexual abuse. Each case started after SOCET received tips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) that numerous images of child exploitation were uploaded from the residences. The cases are not related.  The first arrest came yesterday morning when SOCET investigators along with Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) Patrol deputies pulled over the suspect as he was leaving his residence on the 300 block of Broad Street in Butte Falls. The suspect, Joshua Remington Pettry, 28, has been charged with two counts of second-degree encouraging child sexual abuse. He is lodged in the Jackson County Jail.  The next arrest came when SOCET and Grants Pass Police Department (GPPD) officers served a search warrant at the 2700 block o

Deschutes Co. Sheriff's Office The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office Street Crimes Unit conducted a short term investigation into Levi Towry for the sales of fentanyl pills imported from Portland and later distributed in in Deschutes County. On July 27, 2022, Street Crimes detectives learned Towry was traveling from Portland to Redmond, OR with fentanyl pills in his possession.  Detectives observed a vehicle Towry was a passenger in pull into the parking lot of the Village Squire Motel in Redmond, OR. Detectives contacted Towry while he was seated in the vehicle and he was immediately detained on an unrelated burglary case from Bend Police Department. A subsequent search warrant of Towry’s person revealed he was in possession of a commercial quantity of counterfeit oxycodone pills containing fentanyl. Eugene Springfield Fire   Eugene, OR.  Eugene Springfield Firefighters responded to a reported apartment fire in Eugene’s Santa Clara area early Wednesday Morning.  Arriving crews found heavy fire on the exterior and in the attic of the building.  Firefighters were challenged by access and a downed power line.  There were no reported injuries to residents or firefighters.  Red Cross will be supporting residents in need of shelter.  EPD and EWEB assisted on scene.   

Oregon Department of Human Services (Salem) – The Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS), Child Welfare Division, asks the public to help find Zane Averett, age 16, a child in foster care who went missing from Union, Oregon on July 8. Zane is believed to be in danger. ODHS asks the public for help in the effort to find Zane and to contact 911, local law enforcement or Oregon Child Abuse Hotline by calling 1-855-503-SAFE (7233) if they believe they see him. Zane frequently spends time in the cities of Union and Elgin. Newport Police Dept. On July 25 th , 2022 the Newport Police Department received information that Jeffery Haines, 42, of Waldport, was selling methamphetamine to others in the Newport area and had outstanding warrants for his arrest. The information was provided to area law enforcement officers and Haines was spotted by an Oregon State Trooper when they had passed Haines as Haines was entering Newport. Newport K9 officer located Haines’ vehicle parked at a residence in Newport and began watching the vehicle for Haines to return to it. When Haines returned to his vehicle and began driving away from the area, Newport officers conducted a traffic stop on his vehicle and contacted him. Haines was detained and during a search of his person, a quantity of methamphetamine was located. During the investigation Haines consented to a K9 search of his vehicle and property. Clackamas County Sheriff's Office Shortly before 9 p.m. on Friday, July 22, one of our Patrol deputies stopped a gray Honda Accord on Hwy 224 near Park Ave, Estacada. The vehicle’s plates had expired over two years ago.   A search of the car revealed over 100 pills stamped M30 suspected to be fentanyl, nearly half a pound of meth, face masks, two scales, and multiple weapons -- including a gun without a serial number.   The 20-year-old driver, Kenneth Allen Nelson of Portland, was arrested on charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance (Schedule II and Meth), Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, and Obliterating Firearm I.D. Marks; meanwhile, 21-year-old passenger Justin Everett Cogburn of Portland was arrested on a parole violation. Both were transported to the Clackamas County Jail. The vehicle was towed and evidence seized.

Oregon State Police On July 26, 2022, at approximately 3:26 PM, Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 5 near milepost 155.  Preliminary investigation revealed a southbound silver Toyota 4-Runner, operated by Loyd Price (78) of Roseburg, left the roadway, struck a guardrail, traveled down an embankment, and rolled. The 4-Runner came to rest on the railroad tracks.  Loyd Price was initially alert when medics arrived but suffered a medical event shortly after the crash and was pronounced deceased. His passenger, Deborah Price (73) of Roseburg suffered injuries and was transported to an area hospital.  OSP was assisted by North Douglas Fire, Oregon Department of Transportation, Douglas County Medical Examiner’s Office, and South Lane County Fire.

Tualatin Police Dept. On Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at approximately 6:45am, Tualatin Police responded to a kidnapping and stolen vehicle incident at the Oregon Dog Rescue, located at 6700 SW Nyberg St, in Tualatin. Tualatin Police responded and learned the owner of the stolen car, a gray 2020 Kia Sedona van, had parked in the lot of Oregon Dog Rescue and left the car running while he went into the business to drop off his dog. During that time, the suspect, Marcus Esa Paul, 24 years of age, of Tualatin, got into the running vehicle and drove away. The owner of the vehicle informed police that his nine-month-old infant child was still in the van when it was stolen. The suspect dropped the infant on the side of a road in Oregon City a short time later. The child was found by a passerby and turned over to police. The child was not injured during the incident. Police, along with the owner’s help, were able to follow the van’s movements by tracking the owner’s cell phone that was left insid

Douglas Forest Protection Association Packard Turkey Fires: During the early morning of Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at approximately 2:26 a.m., crews from the Douglas Forest Protective Association and Canyonville-South Umpqua Fire District responded to a 1/8th of an acre roadside fire located in Bureau of Land Management (BLM) land along Packard Creek Road in Canyonville, ORE.  Upon investigation, an additional fire, .01 acres in size was found at 2:58 am, .03 miles Northeast of the original fire, in privately owned and managed lands. This small burn pile was extinguished immediately, and resources returned to help aid with fire suppression on the original fire.  At 2:43 pm, the fire was 100% trailed, mopped up and cleared.   The cause for both fires were found to be human-caused and are currently under investigation.  *Currently, there are no photos available for these fires.

Forest Grove Fire & Rescue An update to the Anhydrous Ammonia leak at Lineage Logistics located at 4124 24th Avenue. The incident was originally dispatched at 9:35pm on Sunday July 24th and several hours into the incident, Hazard Materials (HAZMAT) Technicians from from Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue were able to stop the leak. Once that was done, crews worked on ventilating the large cold storage room. It took almost 35 hours to deem the affected room clear from hazardous ammonia levels.  During those 35 hours on scene, there were fire, HAZMAT and medical personnel continuously on scene. HAZMAT Technicians checked on air quality in the room at regular intervals. Fire crews were on scene to provide back up to the technicians as well as decontaminate them after exiting the building. Medical crews were on standby in case of a medical emergency or chemical exposure to the Technicians. Washington Co. Sheriff's Office This morning, July 26, 2022, Washington County Sheriff’s Office Marine Patrol deputies resumed their search for the missing swimmer. Deputies were assisted by Lake Oswego Fire Department’s Dive Team and the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office. At approximately 11:00 a.m., divers from the Lake Oswego Fire Department located the body of the missing swimmer in Henry Hagg Lake, near The Peninsula Trail Head. The Washington County Medical Examiner’s Office responded to the scene to conduct their investigation and will determine the cause of death.  Investigators said there is no initial indication that foul play was involved in the swimmer’s death. The swimmer’s name and age will be released once his family has been notified.

Lane Co. Sheriff's Office On 07/21/2022, Deputies were dispatched to a residence near Coburg Road in Eugene for a burglary. The victim had returned home, after placing her mother on hospice, and discovered her front door shattered and her home burglarized. The victim had substantial jewelry stolen to include family heirlooms and jewelry from her travels around the world. The majority of the burglary was recorded on the victim's Ring Camera. A Springfield Police Dispatcher spent a considerable amount of time and was able to identify the male suspect, via security camera footage, as Jason Matthew Bowen of Eugene.  Deputies located Bowen and performed a traffic stop on his vehicle. Shortly after he was taken into custody, deputies learned of two more residential burglaries that were reported in the Lorane Highway area of Eugene. Some of these victims included visitors in town for the World Games. Bowen was identified as the suspect in both of these Burglaries as well. A search war
