DUII arrests over the past weekend

Bend Police Dept. - 05/25/18

Between May 18th at 1:30pm and the early morning hours of May 21, officers with the Bend Police Department arrested 11 people for Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants (DUII). Out of the 11 arrests, one was for driving under the influence of a controlled substance.
One of the DUII arrests came from a vehicle hitting a house. On May 21 at 1:29 am, a vehicle hit a house and caused damage. The vehicle left the scene prior arrival of the Bend Police Department. The house suffered severe damage to include a internal broken water pipe.
The vehicle was later found operated Thomas J Edmunson, a 26 year old Bend resident. Edmunson was driving a 2004 Ford F150 when he collided with the residence. Edmunson was contacted in the 2700 block of NE Boyd Acres, where he was taken into custody for DUII (alcohol), Reckless Endangering, Reckless Driving, Criminal Mischief II and Hit and Run. Edmunson was transported to the Deschutes County Jail, where he was lodged.
We highlight this case to show the dangers of driving a vehicle impaired. Whether impaired by alcohol, marijuana or another controlled substance, the outcomes can be very tragic. In this case, the residents were lucky as there were no injuries.
We ask our community members and visitors to drink responsibly. If you plan on celebrating this holiday weekend, make plans to have a designated driver, use a taxi service or ride share. If you suspect someone is driving under the influence, please contact Deschutes County 911 non-emergency at 541-693-6911.
