Roseburg Man arrested for robbery

Roseburg Police Dept. On Thursday morning, May 30th, 2019 around 0530 hours, Roseburg Police Officers responded to a reported robbery at the Dutch Brothers coffee stand located at 1731 NE Stephens in Roseburg. 32 year old Aaron Schwab of Roseburg was identified as the suspect.  Officers later learned that Scwab allegedly entered the Dutch Brothers employee hut and took a cell phone from an employee.  Schwab then attempted to assault the male employee.  Schwab then exited the stand, jumped on the hood of a customer's truck, and tried to pull the vehicle owner out.  The vehicle owner fought back, defending himself.  Schwab assaulted the vehicle owner and then fled on foot.  As Officers arrived, Schwab remained uncooperative, and refused commands to be taken into custody.  Schwab was Tased by Officers, but he was able to remove the Taser probes and showed that he was going to fight with Officers.  At that time K9 Nike was released and he made a biting capture of Schwab on his up

Elkton Man Arrested on Sex Abuse Charges

Douglas Co. Sheriff's Office After an ongoing investigation, an Elkton man has been arrested in connection with numerous sexual assaults and incidents of harassment, which took place in Elkton, Oregon.  The investigation began after two women came forward to report that they had been inappropriately touched numerous times over the course of their high school years by 49 year-old Elkton resident James Bryce Carnes. The allegations took place from 2013 - 2016 at his residence. On Wednesday, May 29, 2019, deputies contacted Carnes at his residence. Carnes was arrested and lodged in the Douglas County Jail on the charges of Sex Abuse 3 (multiple counts) and Harassment (multiple counts).

14 year old arrested for stealing vehicle, firearm

Roseburg Police Dept. On May 28th, 2019 just after 7:00 PM the Roseburg Police Department responded to the report of a vehicle being stolen from the 900 block of SE Pine Street in Roseburg.  The owner of the vehicle also reported a .357 revolver was inside the vehicle when it was stolen.  There were no suspect leads at the time the report was taken. On May 29th, 2019 at approximately 0900 hours, Roseburg Police Officers began to receive information regarding a 14 year old male observed with a firearm.  It was further reported this 14 year old male had earlier in the morning brandished the firearm where a group of fellow middle school students were waiting near a bus stop.  After the male displayed the gun, the other students ran from the area and the male allegedly fired one round into the ground.  No injuries or property damage were believed to have occurred during this incident. Four Injured in Weekend Crash

Jackson Co. Sheriff's Office ROGUE RIVER, Ore. –  Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) deputies say four people were injured in a crash in the Elderberry Flats area over Memorial Day weekend.  Deputies say none of the four occupants of the vehicle - all adults - were wearing seatbelts. On Saturday, May 25, 2019, at 4:04 p.m., dispatch received a 911 call reporting a crash at the 9.5 mile marker on West Fork Evans Creek Road.  The incident occurred in an area with no cellular phone service; witnesses had to drive several miles to call for help. Deputies say a 1987 Toyota 4-Runner operated by Steven Cagle Wyatt, 33, of Eagle Point, swerved to avoid an oncoming vehicle in a curve on the narrow gravel road.  The vehicles did not collide, but Cagle Wyatt lost control of his vehicle and struck a large tree.  Personnel from Evans Valley Fire District and Rogue River Fire District responded to the scene.  Cagle Wyatt and two female passengers were transported by ambulance to

Vehicle vs. Pedestrian Crash with Injuries

Grants Pass Dept. of Public Safety On 05/27/19 at 0001 hours, GPDPS dispatch received 911 calls of a male subject who had been struck by a vehicle in front of Burger King, located at 501 Rogue River Hwy in Grants Pass. GPDPS Police and Fire/Rescue units responded along with American Medical Response (AMR). On arrival, the male subject was found in the roadway and the vehicle, a 2004 Honda Civic pulled over on the side of the roadway. The male in the roadway was unresponsive but breathing. He had obvious injuries, was tended to by Fire/Rescue and AMR personnel. The male was later identified as 21 year-old, Tyler Lyons who has a listed Medford address. He was taken to RVMC in Medford with serious but determined non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the vehicle, Jeffrey Kime Pelt was cooperative with the investigation and was not impaired by intoxicants. GPDPS Traffic reconstruction specialists and a major crimes detective were summoned to assist with the investigation. F

PPB Officer Struck by Vehicle While Investigating Disturbance-Non-Life Threatening Injuries Sustained

Portland Police Bureau On Sunday, May 26, 2019 at 2:34 A.M., East Precinct Officers received a report of a disturbance at the Lux Hookah Lounge at 12436 Southeast Powell Boulevard. There was a report of two males fighting, with one threatening to get a gun. Multiple officers responded to the scene and ultimately determined no one had a firearm. Numerous police vehicles were on scene with their overhead emergency lights activated.  As one of the officers was returning to his car on Southeast Powell Boulevard between 124th and 125th Avenues, he saw a Honda Accord traveling westbound on Powell Boulevard toward him. He tucked up against his car trying to avoid being hit, but was struck by the rear view mirror of the passing vehicle. The vehicle did not stop until other officers got behind it at Southeast 122nd Avenue and Southeast Powell Boulevard.  The officer was transported to an area hospital by ambulance. Pursuit on Bear Creek, Driver Arrested

Deschutes Co. Sheriff's Office   On 05/26/2019 at approximately 1:13am, a Deschutes County Deputy was traveling west on NE Bear Creek Road near NE Alpenview Lane and reported to dispatch that a vehicle had swerved into his lane and almost hit him head on.  The deputy took evasive action, going off the roadway to avoid being struck by a gold 1998 Buick Century. The deputy turned around to attempt to stop the vehicle and the driver failed to yield to emergency lights and sirens.  Bend Police Officers, Sunriver Police, and additional Deschutes County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the area to assist. The pursuit lasted approximately 9 minutes.   Motor vehicle traffic in the area was minimal.  The suspect reached a maximum speed of 55mph on SE 3rd Street, but speeds were generally in the 35-40mph zone.  The suspect avoided multiple attempts to utilize a Pursuit Immobilization Technique (PIT).  Spike strips were successfully deployed by Bend Police on SE Parrell Road.  The veh

Yamhill Co. Sheriff's Office Yesterday, 52 year old Michael John Wolfe was taken into custody by investigators from the Salem Police Department in connection with the disappearance of Karissa and William Fretwell.  He was booked into the Yamhill County Jail on two counts of Aggravated Murder and two counts of Kidnapping in the First Degree.  He is being held without bail. At this time, searchers are continuing to look for Karissa and William in the rural Hopewell area.  Due to the venue of the search and the criminal prosecution taking place in Yamhill County, media is asked to direct enquiries to the Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office from this point forward.  The Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office and Salem Police Department have no plans to release any additional information on this case unless something of significance develops in the search for Karissa and William.  The next planned media release will take place after Michael Wolfe’s arraignment, which is currently sche

Oregon City man arrested after shooting roommate

Oregon City Police Dept At about 3:30 pm yesterday, an Oregon City man called 9-1-1 and told dispatch he had been shot by his roommate, 31-year-old Daniel Craig Wiese, inside their apartment at the Mt. View Apartments, 1840 Molalla Ave.  Officers arrived a short time later.  We were able to determine the victim was in a bedroom.  Our officers and Clackamas County deputies were able to break out the bedroom window and enter the bedroom not knowing were the gunman was.  The officers and deputies were able to evacuate the victim through the window and he was transported to OHSU with life threatening injuries. The Clackamas County Inter-Agency SWAT and CNT teams responded.  The team deployed gas in an attempt to get Mr. Wiese to peacefully surrender.  During the deployment one team member fired a shot but Mr. Wiese was not hit.  Mr. Wiese ultimately exited the rear of his apartment but was not cooperating.  Less lethal weapons were deployed and Mr. Wiese was ultimately taken into cu

Salem Police Dept. The Salem Police Department has Michael John Wolfe in custody. Wolfe is being charged with two counts of Aggravated Murder and two counts of Kidnapping. Final charges will be determined by the Office of the District Attorney of Yamhill County. Salem Police investigators and other law enforcement partners continue the search for Karissa and William Fretwell in rural Yamhill County. Search Warrant Served, Curtin Man Arrested

Sheriff's Office CURTIN, Ore.  - On Wednesday, May 22, 2019, at 1:20 pm, Deputies with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office received information regarding a domestic dispute that had occurred at a residence in the 1000-block of Bear Creek Road earlier that day. The initial report was that the resident, 43 year-old Gregory Wayne Ferguson, had fired a weapon at his girlfriend inside the home in the presence of a small child. Both the child and female had left the residence before reporting the incident. Despite their efforts, deputies were unsuccessful in contacting Ferguson regarding the reported incident. Deputies continued the investigation and were able to contact Ferguson at his residence Thursday morning.  Deputies later served a search warrant at the residence for evidence of the disturbance. Sheriff's Office Sisters, OR – Two Arrested After Shots Fired During Dispute Between Employer and Employee On May 23rd, 2019 at approximately 9:17PM, Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were dispatched to a dispute near the intersection of USFS Road 1505 and USFS Road 1513, in the wilderness about 5 miles southwest of Sisters, Oregon. The caller reported that he was assaulted with a firearm by his employer after a physical altercation at a campground. Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office Deputies, Black Butte Ranch Police Officers and Oregon State Police Troopers responded to the area and began searching for the suspect who fled the area. About an hour after the incident, a DCSO Deputy, located the suspect on Highway 126 near milepost 102. A high risk traffic stop was conducted and Justin Richard Swope, age 41, of Terrebonne, Oregon was detained without further incident. Gresham Police Dept Gresham, Ore. – Gresham Police is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a missing 28-year-old woman. Courtney Tolan was last seen yesterday around 2:00 p.m. leaving her Gresham residence near 162nd Ave. and Glisan St. Tolan has red/pink died hair, hazel eyes, is approximately 5-feet-5-inches tall and 185 pounds. Tolan is having mental health issues and her family is worried about her. She was last seen wearing a black tank top, black pants, and carrying a large white and red purse. There is no known vehicle information. Anyone who knows of Tolan’s whereabouts is asked to call Gresham Police.

Man Dies in Fall From Trail

Jackson Co. Sheriff's Office ASHLAND, Ore. – A man fell to his death Wednesday night while hiking on a trail northeast of Ashland. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) search and rescue (SAR) tactical rope rescue team (TRRT) recovered the man’s body at the base of a steep cliff. On May 22, 2019, at 8:08 p.m., dispatch received a call from a woman reporting a man had fallen from the Lost Falls trail. The woman had to hike to another location to obtain cell phone coverage to call 911. JCSO deputies responded to the area with personnel from Ashland Fire & Rescue and Mercy Flights. The man was found deceased in the water at the base of a 100-foot cliff. The victim was identified as Michael Kent Brewster, 63, of Medford. His family has been notified of his death. JCSO search and rescue (SAR) personnel returned Thursday morning to recover Brewster’s body during daylight hours. UPDATE- Single Vehicle Fatal Crash on Hwy 101 - Coos County

Oregon State Police  On Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at approximately 9:45 P.M. Oregon State Police and emergency personnel responded to a report of a single vehicle crash on Hwy 101 milepost 223 near Lakeside. Preliminary investigation reveals that a Ford pickup was traveling on Hwy 101 when for unknown reasons left the roadway and rolled.   The operator, and lone occupant, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.  The driver is identified as Joey Vandenhey (60) of Lakeside, OR. OSP was assisted by Lower Umpqua Ambulance, North Bend Chapel, and the Coos County Sheriff's Office.

Interagency Deadly Force Investigations Team to Investigate Incident Involving Pursuit of Suspect in Stolen Vehicle - Lane County

Oregon State Police  On Thursday, May 23, 2019 at approximately 9:45 am, the Lane County Sheriff’s Office attempted a traffic stop involving a stolen Ford F350 truck on Hwy 99 near Milliron. The driver of the vehicle increased speed and deputies pursued the driver southbound on Hwy 99, onto Greenhill Road, Clearlake, and Lawrence before the suspect fled on foot on Dalewood Drive. During the pursuit the suspect rammed occupied Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicles and deputies discharged their firearms. No injuries have been reported. The suspect, identified as 34 year old Keith Newsome, has been taken into custody. The Interagency Deadly Force Investigations Team (IDFIT) has been assigned to investigate the incident. Further information will be provided following the investigation when more facts are known.

Detectives Investigating Shots Fired Call in Green

Douglas Co. Sheriff's Office   On May 19th, 2019, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a shots fired in the area of Highway 99 and Grant Smith Road, in the Green District. Sheriff’s Office Detectives were activated and determined that an employee of a business in the area was leaving work, when she was shot at by a person who had been in the area.  The employee was being picked up in a vehicle when the attack occurred.  Neither the employee or the person providing the ride were injured in the attack, despite being fired at around 15 times. The investigators were able to determine that the suspect in the case was 36 year-old Roseburg area resident, Joshua Preston.  The victim and suspect were known to each other. On 05-21-19, at around 1750 hours, Joshua Preston was contacted by members of the Sheriff’s Office and taken into custody without incident.  He was lodged at the Douglas County Jail on multiple charges including; Attempted Assault I Felo

Detectives Investigating Shots Fired Call in Green

Douglas Co. Sheriff's Office   ROSEBURG, Ore.  - Detectives are following up on leads after a vehicle was struck by gunfire in Green Sunday night. At about 10:22 pm, deputies were dispatched to investigate a report of shots fired in the area of Ladd Lane, but were unable to locate any witnesses or the source of the gunfire. At approximately 11:00 pm, dispatchers received a report from an individual who stated their vehicle had been struck by gunfire earlier in the evening near Taco Bell. No one was injured in the incident. Detectives were notified and are currently investigating the incident. Fatal Crash Territorial Highway & High Pass Road near Junction City -- Lane County

Oregon State Police Oregon State Police (OSP) is continuing the investigation into Friday morning’s two vehicle fatal crash on Territorial Highway and High Pass Road near Junction City.  On May 17, 2019 at about 10:20 AM, OSP troopers and first responders were dispatched to a two vehicle fatal crash at the intersection of Territorial Highway and Highway Pass Road.  Preliminary investigation revealed that a Chevy Cavalier, operated by Russell Lee NICKERSON, age 81, from Eugene was traveling westbound on High Pass Road when for unknown reasons he failed to stop at the intersection.  NICKERSON’s vehicle was struck by a  Ford Econoline Van, operated by Cary Allen RAMSAY (male), age 55, from Eugene.  NICKERSON suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.  RAMSAY was transported to Riverbend Hospital with serious injuries.  Territorial Highway was closed for approximately four hours following the crash.  OSP was assisted by Lane County Sheriff's

Douglas Interagency Narcotics Team (DINT)   The Douglas Interagency Narcotics Team (DINT) has been investigating the activities of 58 year old Ron House.  House has been alleged to be using and selling controlled substances from his residence in the 600 block of Parrott Street in Roseburg.   The ongoing investigation led to the seizure of a substantial amount of methamphetamine in recent weeks.   On Friday, May 17th, DINT detectives, with help from the Roseburg Police Department, conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 1300 block of NE Stephens Street in Roseburg.  Ron House was an occupant of the vehicle and he was detained without incident.  A search of the vehicle revealed approximately a half pound of methamphetamine. A search of House's residence in the 600 block of Parrott Street revealed approximately another half pound of methamphetamine, a small amount of cocaine, and other drug paraphernalia such as scales used to weigh drugs, and packaging materials.  

Arson Investigation leads to the Arrest of a South Beach man, Lincoln County, Oregon

Lincoln Co. Sheriff's Office On May 4, 2019, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were dispatched to an address in South Beach to investigate a suspicious fire at a residence. When Deputies arrived, they observed what appeared to be an incendiary device placed against the residence. Deputies requested resources from the Lincoln County Fire Investigation Team. Investigators developed a suspect based on evidence identified at the crime scene. Detectives from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office obtained a search warrant for the suspect’s residence; items found during the execution of the search warrant were consistent with the device used at the point of origin in the original complaint. Derrick Jasper of South Beach was arrested on the following charges: Attempted Aggravated Murder, two counts Attempted Murder, Arson in the first degree, Arson in the second degree, Unlawful Manufacture of a Destructive Device, and Possession of Destructive Device. DUII driver arrested after crashing into the back of an OSP Patrol car

Oregon State Police On May 18, 2019, at approximately 2:20 am, Sgt. Broome had stopped for a disabled motorist parked in the lane of travel around on Crater Lake Avenue in Medford. As he concluded assisting the motorist he sat down in the driver's seat, when his patrol vehicle was rear-ended by an SUV. The female driver of the SUV was the sole occupant of the vehicle. She was arrested for DUII amongst additional charges. T he Medford Police Department is investigating the crash and is the primary agency handling the criminal investigation. The female driver was uninjured. Sgt. Broome went to the hospital for evaluation and treatment. OSP was assisted by  Medford Police  and the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.

Bend Police Officer Assaulted during arrest

Bend Police Dept. On 05/16/19 at 10:34 p.m., officers from the City of Bend Police Department responded to 7- Eleven located at 810 NE Greenwood for a report of a naked, intoxicated male who had fallen in the parking lot.  The male was also reported to have failed to pay a cab driver for a ride he had received to that location. Arriving officers contacted the subject, later identified as Tony Latrell Williams and detained him in handcuffs following a brief theft investigation.  After being handcuffed, a kitchen knife with an approximately 10 inch blade was located in his waistband.  Williams became uncooperative with officers and assaulted one of the officers by kicking her in the head. Arriving officers assisted in controlling Williams who continued to actively resist being arrested by flailing about and trying to pull away from the officers.  Williams was eventually restrained using a WRAP restraint device. UPDATE: Driver Arrested in Hit and Run Involving Bicyclist

Sheriff's Office On Thursday, May 16, 2019, detectives from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office arrested  William Offinga, 55, on one count of reckless driving and one count of felony hit and run related to an incident that happened on May 11, 2019 in rural Washington County, northwest of Forest Grove. Several tips led detectives to Mr. Offinga’s residence outside of Forest Grove where a search warrant was executed.  A vehicle matching the description from witnesses was located with damage consistent with a crash. Mr. Offinga was booked into the Washington County Jail this afternoon. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office thanks everyone who offered information leading to the arrest of this suspect. Officer recovering after traffic stop shooting

Salem Police Dept. Salem, Ore.  — On the evening of Tuesday, May 14, 2019 a Salem Police officer was shot during the course of a traffic stop. Officer Michelle Pratt, a seven-year veteran on the force, sustained non-life-threatening injuries, and is now recovering at home. Although Pratt has been an officer for seven years, she has been part of the Salem Police family since 2005 starting as a volunteer advocate on the Domestic Violence Response Team. In 2011, Pratt was hired as a community service officer, and became a police officer in 2012. Since that time Pratt has been a stalwart of the Patrol Division primarily working on swing and graveyard shifts. Pratt has received advanced training in crisis intervention techniques and domestic violence investigations. She is also a member of the Salem Police Honor Guard. DEATH INVESTIGATION HIGHWAY 38 NEAR ELKTON -- DOUGLAS COUNTY

Oregon State Police Oregon State Police (OSP) is continuing the investigation into Wednesday morning’s accident that lead to the death of a North Bend man on Highway 38 near Elkton. On May 15, 2019 at about 11:10 AM, OSP troopers and first responders were dispatched to a log truck that had gone into a ditch on Highway 38 near milepost 37. Preliminary investigation revealed that a loaded Kenworth log truck operated by John DICKENS, age 63, from North Bend, was eastbound on Highway 38.  DICKENS stopped at a wide spot along the highway and exited the log truck.  The log truck started rolling and struck DICKENS while he was outside of it causing fatal injuries. OSP is continuing the investigation into what caused the log truck to roll while it was unattended.  Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) investigators responded to the scene to assist with the investigation. Shots fired at Salem Police officer

Salem Police Dept. Salem, Ore.  — On May 14, 2019, at approximately 8:30 p.m. a Salem Police officer conducted a traffic stop in the 500 block of Highland AV NE. During the stop a suspect shot at the officer. The officer was injured and was transported to a local medical facility. The suspect then fled in the vehicle. The vehicle was located unoccupied shortly soon after. Currently, tactical teams are conducting a K-9 search in the area near Broadway AV NE and Locust ST NE. We are asking that residents in the area please stay inside while the K-9 track is taking place. This is an ongoing event and as such details will not be released until more information becomes available or the incident is resolved.

Man Dies After Falling At Toketee Falls

Douglas Co. Sheriff's Office TOKETEE FALLS, Ore.  – On Sunday, May 12, 2019, at approximately 6:30 pm, dispatchers received a report of a male subject who had fallen into the water at Toketee Falls. Search and Rescue personnel as well as emergency crews from Douglas County Fire District #2 responded on Sunday night and resumed efforts Monday morning. The subject’s body was successfully recovered on Monday at approximately 11:30 hours by Douglas County Fire District #2 Technical Rescue Team.   The male victim was identified as 59 year-old Brian Paul Nelson, formerly of Bandon, Oregon. Next of kin has been notified.

Fatal Crash in Polk County

Polk Co. Sheriff's Office On May 11, 2019 just at approximately 11:25 PM Polk County deputies responded to a reported one vehicle, non-injury, crash in the 9000 block of Corvallis RD, just south of Independence. Oregon State Police Trooper Nicklus Rumsey was in the area and responded as well, it being reported that the front of the involved pickup truck was nosed into the ditch and the rear of the vehicle was blocking a lane of travel. Prior to law enforcement arriving on scene, the Willamette Valley Communications Center began receiving reports that the crash involved more than one vehicle and that there were two injured persons, one with grave injuries. Trooper Rumsey arrived and began life saving measures that unfortunately proved unsuccessful. Benton County Man Pleads Guilty to Wildlife Crimes

Oregon State Police Anthony A. COLEMAN, age 33, from Corvallis, pleaded guilty in the Benton County Circuit Court to two counts of Taking, Angling, Hunting, or Trapping in Violation in Wildlife Law or Rule and Possession of Prohibited Firearm as Class A Misdemeanors.  He was sentenced to: ·        Hunting privileges suspended for a period of 8 years ·        36 months bench probation to include no participation in hunting, trapping, or shed hunting activities ·        $20,400 in fines, fees, and restitution ·        30 days of work crew ·        Forfeiture of all seized rifles, bows and animal parts ·        10 days in jail The charges stemmed from an investigation which resulted in the service of several search warrants by the Oregon State Police Fish and Wildlife Division Mid-Valley Team last year. The investigation began when an anonymous person advised Troopers of COLEMAN killing two bull elk on the same day. The search warrants served led to multiple other c
