Fatal Crash on Interstate 5 - Josephine County

Oregon State Police On Saturday, June 29, 2019 at approximately 10:24 P.M. Oregon State Police Troopers received multiple calls regarding  a subject walking on Interstate 5 in both northbound and southbound travel lanes. Troopers were actively looking for the subject when a passing motorist advised them a vehicle had struck a pedestrian near milepost 58. Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2009 Toyota Camry, operated by Shannon Baldwin (51) of Central Point, was  southbound on I5 when he struck the unidentified male subject in the travel lane. The unidentified male subject sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased. Baldwin and his passenger, Hope Sakrison (55) of Central Point, were transported to the hospital and treated for minor injuries. I5 southbound was closed briefly and then reduced to one lane of travel for approximately 2 1/2 hours following the crash. OSP was assisted by ODOT, Grants Pass DPS, Grants Pass Fire, and AMR.

Redmond Police Arrest Theft Suspect, Recover More than $30,000 in Stolen Property

Redmond Police Dept. Redmond, OR – On Friday, June 28, 2019, a report of theft was made to the Redmond Police.  The location was the 1500 block of NW Canyon Drive, Redmond.  The victim believed her grandson had stolen her credit card and proceeded to use it at multiple locations throughout Redmond and Central Oregon.  An investigation confirmed Mr. Troy Schaffner, a 27-year-old Redmond resident, was the suspect.  Redmond Police Officers and a Detective went to Schaffner’s residence in the 3600 block of N Hwy 97, Redmond to attempt to speak with him.  While there, officers discovered a 17-foot utility trailer which had been reported stolen the day before to the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office.  The trailer is the property of a small business in Terrebonne.  It’s theft significantly impacted the business. Shooting in McMinnville

McMinnville Police Dept. On 6/28/2019 at about 5:36 pm Yamhill County Communications Agency received a 911 call regarding a shooting that had just occurred on Grandhaven Street west of Doran Drive..  McMinnville Police located a 28 year old white male with a gun shot wound to the abdomen.  The victim was transported by ambulance to a location where a Life Flight helicopter had landed but the victim passed away prior to be transported by Life Flight.  At this time McMinnville PD is not releasing the name of the victim. After an extensive and rapidly evolving investigation, Dustin Allen Brown DOB: 8/26/1985 of McMinnville was taken into custody on a temporary felony warrant for Homicide on June 29, 2019 at 1:59 am.  After being taken into custody, Brown was transported to the Willamette Valley Medical Center for treatment and will be lodged at the Yamhill County Jail. Roberto Santiago Martinez Sentenced to 75 Months in Prison in Child Sex Abuse Case

District Attorney's Office HILLSBORO, Ore.- On June 7, 2019, Judge Ted Sims sentenced Roberto Santiago Martinez, age 38, to 75 months in prison after he was convicted of first-degree sex abuse. The case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Chris Lewman. In August of 2017, a then 11-year-old girl spent the night at Martinez’s home. Early the next morning, she awoke to find Martinez in the bedroom standing over her and touching her in a sexual manner. The victim told at least three other children about the abuse at the time, but it went unreported to authorities for a year. Eventually, the victim was no longer able to conceal her emotional distress and reported the abuse to a school counselor. That counselor then immediately notified the proper authorities. The victim was interviewed by experts at CARES Northwest where she described the abuse consistent with her original story told a year earlier. Police Seek Help Locating Missing Gresham Man

Gresham Police Dept Gresham, Ore. – Gresham Police is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a missing 21-year-old man last seen today around 1:00 p.m. at his residence near SE Roberts Ave and SE 5th St. Cameron Clark is on the autism spectrum and his family is concerned. He has a red hair, hazel eyes, is approximately 5-feet-8-inches tall and 175 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black Timbers Adidas jacket, gray shorts, and gray sandals. Anyone who knows of Clark’s whereabouts is encouraged to call 911.

Man Arrested Following Grass Fire

Jackson Co. Sheriff's Office SAMS VALLEY, Ore. – Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) deputies arrested a man in connection with a grass fire in Sams Valley on Wednesday.  Deputies say after fire officials contacted the man at the scene, he fled through neighboring properties and tried to hide from deputies. On June 26, 2019, at 2:31 p.m., dispatch received a 911 call reporting a grass fire in the 11600-block of Duggan Road.  Crews from Fire District 3 and the Oregon Department of Forestry responded to the area.  Deputies assisted with traffic control.  The fire was contained quickly at approximately one-half acre.   At 2:51 p.m., a resident in the 9100-block of Highway 234 called 911 to report a man was trespassing on his property.  The caller said the man was hiding in the bushes and claimed to have a warrant for his arrest.  Deputies arrived minutes later and saw the man running on Highway 234.  They took him into custody without further incident.   Deputies identif

Registered Sex Offender Arrested for Public Indecency Around Minors

Ashland Police Dept. On Wednesday June 26, 2019 at approximately 7:15 p.m. officers from the Ashland Police Department responded to the Lithia Park playground on a report of a man exposing himself to minors and making statements about being the "boogie man." Officers identified Gerald Sanders, a 50 year old man who is listed as an Ashland and Medford area transient, as the person in question. The investigation revealed that Sanders was exposing his penis near children, urinating and making the boogie man comment. Sanders was verified to be a registered sex offender for a past conviction of luring a minor. Sanders was taken into custody for public indecency (felony) and disorderly conduct. Additionally a detainer was placed on Sanders by his probation officer and he was trespassed from all Ashland Parks for a period of six months. Search Warrants served by MADGE

Medford Police Dept. On 062719, MADGE (Medford Area Drug and Gang Enforcement) served two search warrants pursuant to an ongoing drug investigation.  The warrants were served at 1036 W. 12th St., Medford ,OR and 1712 W Main St., Medford, OR (La Muneca).  A large amount of currency was seized related to drug activity.  Additional evidence was located related to Identity Theft. The case is currently being investigated.  LODGED: Teresa Gonzalez, 42 years old, was lodged at the Jackson County Jail.  She was lodged on three counts of ID Theft and her bail is $22,500.

Bandon Educational Assistant and Coach Sentenced to 30 Years in Federal Prison for Sexually Abusing an Infant

Williams announced today that former Bandon School District educational assistant and coach Sean Jeffrey Haga, 33, was sentenced to 360 months in federal prison and a life term of supervised release for sexually abusing a 2-month-old infant and distributing photos of the abuse on the internet. “Mere hours passed between FBI agents first discovering the photographic evidence of Sean Haga’s abuse online and their rescue of the infant victim assisted by local law enforcement. Unfortunately, Haga’s victimization of this child did not stop with his arrest. Gresham Police Arrest Arson Suspect

Gresham Police Dept   GRESHAM, Ore.— 41-year-old Gresham resident Seth Ames was arrested after setting two separate residential fires in the 18600 block of SE Brooklyn Ct. 911 callers reported the incident to Gresham Police and Fire at about 12:09 a.m. Witnesses saw Ames throwing a Molotov cocktail at his neighbor’s garage door. Ames also set his own house on fire from the basement. Ames crashed his vehicle into a trailer after nearly hitting a police car responding to the call in the 18300 block of SE Brooklyn Ct. Fires at both locations were extinguished without any injury. Gresham Detectives and Gresham Fire Investigators are still investigating the scene and motives behind the arson. Ames is being lodged at Multnomah County Detention Center on charges of Arson I, Unlawful Manufacture of Destructive Device, Reckless Endangerment and Reckless Driving.

Fire near transient camp off Mill st.

Douglas Co. Fire Dist. No.2 At 05:13 Monday morning Douglas County Fire District No.2 was dispatched to a reported railroad tie fire with several subjects reported running away from the area near the transient camps at the end of SE Mill St. The first arriving DCFD 2 crew arrived on scene to find the entire pile of railroad ties approximately 80 feet x 20 feet on fire. Crews were able to contain the fire to its origin but remained on scene for two hours cooling the pile. There was no damage to the railroad, but a communications line from a nearby power pole was damaged by the fire. DCFD 2 responded with 2 brush rigs, 1 fire engine, 2 water tenders, and one command rig. They were assisted by Douglas county sheriff’s office, Roseburg police department, and Pacific power.

Hikers Rescued from Mt. Thielsen

Douglas Co. Sheriff's Office DIAMOND LAKE, Ore.  - Two hikers were successfully rescued from Mt. Thielsen due to their level of preparedness. On Friday, June 21, 2019, around 9:00 PM, dispatchers were notified that two SOS signals were being sent from Garmin inReach personal locator devices. Dispatchers were provided information regarding the two individuals who were registered with the devices.  Two St. Louis Park, Minnesota residents, 28 year-old Kaia Fink and her 67 year-old father, David Fink, were hiking the Pacific Crest Trail when they encountered heavy snow. Due to the snow, they lost track of the trail and subsequently hiked nearly to the peak of Mt. Thielsen. The two hikers were in an extremely treacherous area of the mountain and realized they were in need of rescue, activating their SOS devices. Douglas County Search and Rescue was activated and began hiking in. SAR was able to get within 1,500 feet of the hikers, but due to the terrain were unable to safel

Cow Creek Road Fatal Crash

Douglas Co. Sheriff's Office RIDDLE, Ore.  - A single vehicle crash outside of Riddle Saturday afternoon resulted in a fatality.  Dispatchers received a report shortly after 2:00 p.m. of a single vehicle crash in the 700-block of Cow Creek Road. Deputies arrived on scene and determined the only occupant of the vehicle was deceased.  The investigation reveals the driver, 19 year-old Canyonville resident Jacob Collins, was traveling toward Riddle in his 1996 Ford Ranger pickup when he lost control and left the roadway, rolling the pickup. The crash is believed to have occurred sometime in the night or during the morning hours. Speed appears to be a contributing factor.  The Sheriff's Office was assisted by Bay Cities Ambulance and Riddle Fire Department.

Drowning in North Umpqua River

Douglas Co. Sheriff's Office   IDLEYLD PARK, Ore. -  Shortly after 3:30 pm, a 911 call was placed to Douglas County Emergency Communications regarding a possible drowning. It was reported that 34 year-old Roberto Guadarrama-Cruz of Eugene was swimming in the North Umpqua River near Susan Creek Campground. A witness on the shore saw Guadarrama-Cruz swim out of view behind a large rock shelf. After a few minutes, the witness went to investigate when Guadarrama-Cruz was not seen again. Emergency services were dispatched to the scene including the Sheriff's Office Marine Patrol, BLM Law Enforcement, USFS Law Enforcement and Oregon State Police, Glide Fire Department, Bay Cities Ambulance, and Douglas County Fire District #2. At approximately 5:45 pm, Douglas County Fire District #2 was able to recover Guadarrama-Cruz's body from the water approximately 300 yards from his last known location. Next of kin has been notified.

Fatal Crash Saturday Evening, Investigation Continuing

Douglas Co. Sheriff's Office ROSEBURG, Ore.  - A Roseburg woman died in a vehicle crash Saturday evening and her husband is in the hospital. On Saturday, June 23, 2019, at 4:20 pm, Douglas County 911 received a call of a single vehicle crash in the area of Melqua Road/Youngs Lane. Deputies arrived to find a 2010 Toyota Tacoma which had left the roadway and struck a tree at a high rate of speed.  Douglas County Fire District #2 worked to extricate the occupants from the vehicle. The passenger, 48 year-old Roseburg resident Cynthia Lynn Hallen was declared deceased at the scene. The driver, 57 year-old Dana Todd Hallen was transported to Mercy Medical Center by ambulance. He was later transferred to PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend where he remains in stable condition.  Deputies are continuing their investigation. Airplane Crashes Into the Deschutes River Near Sunriver

Deschutes Co. Sheriff's Office On 06-22-19 at approximately 10:40 am, Deschutes County 911 received a call of a plane crash in the Deschutes River near Sunriver. The plane flipped onto its top and submerged.  Deschutes County Sheriff's Office (Patrol, Search and Rescue, and Marine Patrol), Sunriver Police Department, Oregon State Police and Sunriver Fire and Rescue responded.   Sunriver Fire and Rescue arrived and was able to rescue 5 subjects from the aircraft as it floated upside down.  One of the subjects was rescued was a male occupant of the aircraft who was able to escape the aircraft.  The other subjects had swam to the plane to assist the occupants.  It was determined a male subject was still underwater and initial rescue efforts were unsuccessful. The remaining occupant in the airplane was believed to be deceased. The surviving occupant was transported to St. Charles Medical Center in Bend with injuries that are believed to be non-life threatening.  Desch

Oregon State Police seizes over 50 pounds of methamphetamine and over 4 pounds of heroin - Jackson County

Oregon State Police  On Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at approximately 3:43 P.M. A Trooper from the Oregon State Police Central Point office contacted a vehicle for multiple traffic violations on Interstate 5 near milepost 20.   An Oregon State Police narcotics K9 was deployed.  The K9 alerted on the vehicle and a search located 50.8lbs of methamphetamine and 4.8lbs of a heroin hidden inside the vehicle.  Juan Enrique Lemus Del Cid (28) and Reynalda Larios-Cortes (57), both from Tacoma, WA. were arrested for possession of a controlled substance and distribution of a controlled substance for both methamphetamine and heroin and lodged at the Jackson County Jail.   OSP was assisted by the Medford Homeland Security Investigations office.

Detectives Seek Additional Victims of Prolific Sexual Predator

Washington Co. Sheriff's Office On June 19, 2019, a Washington County Grand Jury indicted Adam Michael Wallace, age 39, on 19 felony charges related to the sexual abuse of underage males and luring minors online. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office began its investigation into Wallace after receiving information from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office about possible victims in the Washington County area. Wallace is currently in custody at the Marion County Jail on similar Marion County charges and is currently facing similar cases in Linn County, Oregon and Cowlitz County, Washington. Wallace is a registered sex offender who was last living in the City of Aurora in Marion County. Wallace is known for using social media apps, such as Instagram, SnapChat, Grindr, Hornet, and text messaging to contact his victims. Wallace would often use “phishing” techniques, such as posing as a person younger than himself to make contact with juvenile males. He would then meet them in pe

K9 Grim Locates Wanted Man For OSP

Sheriff's Office UMPQUA, Ore. -  A Sutherlin man with a felony warrant who ran from Oregon State Police Fish and Wildlife Troopers is in the Douglas County Jail after being tracked down by Sheriff's Office K9 Grim.  At approximately 7:25 pm, the Sheriff's Office received information that the OSP Troopers were investigating a fish and game violation at Umpqua Landing Park, when a subject identified as 30 year-old Dillan Paul Prudhomme fled from them. Sheriff's Office K9 Grim responded to assist Troopers in locating Prudhomme. K9 Grim tracked the suspect and located him hiding in tall grass. Prudhomme complied with commands and was taken into custody without incident.  Prudhomme was arrested by the Oregon State Police on the warrant and lodged in the Douglas County Jail.  K9 Grim, a 7 year-old German Shepherd, has been with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office since 2013. Sex Offender Arrested for Luring Teen

Sheriff's Office EAGLE POINT, Ore. – Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) detectives arrested a registered sex offender for crimes associated with attempts to lure a teen girl for sex.  The investigation was a collaborative effort with the Oregon Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC). On June 19, 2019, JCSO detectives arrested Jed Randall Burns, 35, during the service of a search warrant at his residence in the 300-block of Leafwood Drive.  Burns was lodged in the Jackson County jail on the following charges:  first degree encouraging child sexual abuse (two counts); using a child in a display of sexual conduct (two counts); second degree online sexual corruption of a child; luring a minor.  Burns is required to register as a sex offender in Oregon due to a previous conviction. 83 Year-Old Woman Assaulted, Son Arrested

Douglas Co. Sheriff's Office MYRTLE CREEK, Ore. -  An 83 year-old woman is hospitalized after being assaulted by her son.  On Wednesday, June 19, 2019, at 12:10 PM, deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 200-block of Old County Lane for a report of a female who was in need of medical attention. Upon their arrival, deputies found Twila Dunsmore inside of the residence suffering from significant injuries. Dunsmore was transported to Mercy Medical Center by ambulance for treatment.  Detectives began an investigation and determined that Twila Dunsmore was held against her will and assaulted throughout the night by her live-in son, 58 year-old Clay Dunsmore.  Clay Dunsmore was arrested and lodged in the Douglas County Jail on the following charges:  Kidnapping I Assault I Assault II Menacing Detectives are continuing their investigation at this time.  

Gresham Police Arrest Co-Conspirator in 2016 Homicide

Gresham Police Dept Gresham, Ore.— Gresham Police make second arrest in connection to a 2016 homicide. Today at 12:50 p.m., Annastasia Hester’s ex-husband, Matthew Hester, was arrested at his current home in Kennewick, Washington. On June 10, 2016, Gresham Police responded to a homicide in which the victim, 34-year-old Annastasia Hester, had been stabbed multiple times inside her residence at 193 SW Eastman Parkway. This case has been an ongoing investigation for the past three years. On October 4, 2017, 37-year-old Angela McCraw-Hester was arrested at her home in Pocatello, Idaho for the Aggravated Murder of Annastasia Hester. Angela McCraw-Hester is the current wife of Annastasia Hester’s ex-husband. She is currently awaiting trial at the Multnomah County Detention Center. 38-year-old Matthew Hester is being charged with Criminal Conspiracy to Commit Murder, Solicitation of Murder, and Hindering Prosecution for his role in the murder of Annastasia Hester. Reported Robbery at Cascade Community Credit Union

Roseburg Police Dept. On June 19, 2019 at approximately 1035 a.m., the Roseburg Police Department was dispatched to a reported robbery at Cascade Community Credit Union, located at 1123 W Harvard.  A Credit Union employee advised Dispatch that a male gave a teller a note indicating he "needed money".  After the male suspect told the Credit Union employee to open the till and give him money, he also asked for the employee to call the police so he could be arrested.  The 36 year old male (Cody Rose) was located at the Credit Union by the responding officer and  he was taken into custody without incident. Request for Information on Homicide Witness 2019-28141

Grants Pass Dept. of Public Safety The attached photo was taken from video surveillance of the Fred Meyer parking lot on Thursday, June 13th, 2019.  On that date at approximately 12:15 PM, Rolando Rivas Jr. was involved in a fight with another male identified as Andre Revey.  The fight between Rivas and Revey took place inside the backseat of a white, 1993 Lincoln Town Car in the southwest corner of the Fred Meyer Parking lot. It is believed Rivas stabbed Revey several times during the fight, which resulted in Revey's death.  The Grants Pass Police are requesting any help in identifying witnesses to the homicide.  The driver of this van depicted in this photograph was in close proximity to the Lincoln Town Car when the homicide occurred.  The driver/witness is believed to be male and was accompanied by two other individuals who had been shopping at Fred Meyer.  

Fatal crash involving road construction worker - Klamath County

Oregon State Police  On Tuesday, June 18, 2019, at approximately 8:32 P.M. Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to the report of a pedestrian hit by a vehicle on Highway 140 East near milepost 8. Preliminary investigation revealed that a gold Mazda, operated by Zahara Gonzales (38) of Klamath Falls, was traveling westbound on Hwy 140E, entering an active construction zone. Gonzales struck a road construction flagger, identified as Daniel Wessel (45) of Klamath Falls.  Wessel was working for Rocky Mountain Construction. Wessel sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Hwy 140E was closed for 4 hours following the crash. OSP was assisted by ODOT, Klamath County Sheriff's Office, and Klamath Fire Department.  

Assault Suspect Arrested after Stand-off

Medford Police Dept. On June 12th, 2019, Medford Police officers were dispatched to a domestic disturbance in an apartment at 700 Crater Lake Avenue. The suspect, Charles Mott, 35 years old, had fled the scene prior to officers arrival. The investigation indicated that Mott strangled, assaulted and menaced the female victim with a knife, threatening to kill her. As a result, officers had probable cause to arrest him on numerous charges. The victim sought medical treatment for her injuries on her own. Over the next several days, officers were unable to locate Mott. On June 17th, 2019 at about 8:49 p.m., officers went back to the apartment where the assault took place. While there was no answer at the door, it was apparent the apartment was occupied. During the incident, officers spotted Mott briefly walk out onto the balcony before going back in. Detectives Seek Fourth Suspect in Home Invasion

Jackson Co. Sheriff's Office WHITE CITY, Ore. – Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) detectives have made three arrests in connection with a home invasion robbery that occurred in March. One suspect is still outstanding and detectives are asking for the public’s help to track him down. On March 23, 2019, at approximately 2:12 a.m., deputies responded to a report of a robbery at a home in the 3200-block of Dodge Road. The site was previously the location of a marijuana growing operation. Deputies arrived on scene within minutes of the 911 call, but did not locate the suspects in the area. Detectives were later able to identify four suspects involved in the robbery – two adults and two juveniles. Christian Ray Miller, 22, was arrested on June 5, 2019, when deputies served a search warrant at his home in the 9600-block of East Evans Creek Road. Deputies Investigate Fatal Car Crash in Umpqua

Douglas Co. Sheriff's Office UMPQUA, Ore.  - Deputies are investigating a fatal vehicle crash which occurred Monday night shortly after 4:30 pm.  911 dispatchers received a call at 4:34 pm of a head-on collision in the 3800-block of Tyee Road. Deputies arrived to find a 2010 Toyota Camry which had crashed into a 2003 Ford F250 pickup. The investigation reveals the Camry was traveling westbound when it crossed into the oncoming path of the eastbound Ford pickup for an unknown reason.  The Camry was operated by 83 year-old Thomas Brian Parkinson of Umpqua. His wife, 83 year-old Margaret Parkinson, was a passenger in the vehicle. Margaret was transported by Air Ambulance and was later pronounced deceased. Thomas Parkinson was transported to Mercy Medical Center by ambulance and later transferred to PeaceHealth Sacred Medical Center at RiverBend by air ambulance where he remains in critical condition. Hiker Rescued After Activating SPOT Distress Signal on Pacific Crest Trail

Douglas Co. Sheriff's Office DIAMOND LAKE, Ore.  - On Monday, June 17, 2019, at about 12:30 pm, the Douglas County Sheriff's Office was notified of a distress signal from a SPOT locator device. The location of the distress beacon was indicating an area of the Pacific Crest Trail on Mt.Thielsen.  Douglas County Search and Rescue was deployed to look for the subject from which the signal was coming from and assess what type of assistance was required. The Oregon State Police and Diamond Lake Horse Corrals assisted the Sheriff’s Office with rescue efforts by providing riders on horseback. Commercial Structure Fire - 2333 NE Diamond Lake Blvd

Roseburg Fire Dept. At 7:09 a.m. on June 18, 2019, Roseburg Fire Department personnel responded to a reported commercial structure fire at 2333 NE Diamond Lake Blvd.  The reporting party notified dispatch that black smoke was billowing out of one of the roll up doors at the location.  Firefighters arrived on scene to find smoke coming from the roll up door located at the back of a commercial structure.  Firefighters forced entry into the building and quickly extinguished the fire.  After extinguishment of the fire, firefighters checked for extensions within the structure walls and ventilated the building.  Once ventilation was completed, department personnel secured the scene and conducted an investigation.  The fire is currently under investigation and believed to be accidental in nature.  A total of 12 firefighters assisted with the firefighting operations. K9 Grim Located Wanted Washington County Man

Douglas Co. Sheriff's Office ROSEBURG, Ore. –  Another wanted person is in custody thanks to the help of Douglas County Sheriff’s Office K9 Grim. On Friday, June 14, 2019, at 8:30 pm, deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 100-block of Kestrel Ln. When deputies arrived, they located items in the yard of the residence and indications that a crawlspace cover had been removed. Deputies requested the assistance of K9 Grim. The K9 team arrived on scene and began a track which took them to a field on the property. K9 Grim located a man hiding in the nearby brush. The man was identified as 30 year-old Washington County (OR) resident, Kaleb Ray Abraham. Abraham was wanted on two felony warrants for his arrest. He told deputies he ran when he saw the police car pulling up. He was lodged at the Douglas County Jail on the warrants and a charge of trespass. Man Dies While Swimming in Quarry

Sheriff's Office ASHLAND, Ore. - A man died Monday afternoon at a remote swimming area north of Howard Prairie Lake.     On June 17, 2019, at 4:10 p.m., dispatch received a 911 call reporting that a juvenile had been found unresponsive in the water at the Keno Rock Quarry, located on Keno Access Road just south of Dead Indian Memorial Road. Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) deputies and personnel from Greensprings Fire and Mercy Flights responded to the scene. Deputies determined the victim was an 18-year-old male.  According to witnesses, the man had been swimming when he went underwater and did not surface. Bystanders pulled him from the water and began CPR. Medical personnel arrived and continued resuscitation efforts, but the man died at the scene.  The Jackson County Medical Examiner’s Office is investigating the cause and manner of death.  The man’s identity will be released at a later time to allow time for family to be notified. Male Arrested For Compelling Prostitution Of A Minor

Beaverton Police Dept. On June 6, 2019 Beaverton Police detectives arrested 32-year-old Uriel Alberto-Toledo, from Grants Pass, for Compelling Prostitution. BPD detectives, in an undercover capacity, replied to a prostitution advertisement from an online source.  Detectives know this online source is commonly used by traffickers, providers and johns for prostitution related activities.  Detectives contacted Mr. Alberto-Toledo after he dropped off a 17-year-old minor victim at the location set for the prostitution date.  Mr. Alberto-Toledo was taken to Washington County Jail. Evidence in this case was presented to a Washington County Grand Jury on June 13th.  The Grand Jury indicted Mr. Alberto-Toledo with Compelling Prostitution of a Minor (Measure 11) and two counts of Promoting Prostitution. Former Daycare Worker Found Guilty in Sexual Abuse Case

District Attorney's Office HILLSBORO, Ore.- On June 14, 2019, a Washington County jury found Jonathan Alexander Tyler guilty of two counts of Second-Degree Rape, two counts of First-Degree Sex Abuse, two counts of First-Degree Online Sexual Corruption of a Child and three counts of Luring a Minor. Judge Janelle Wipper oversaw the four-day trial which was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Allison Brown. The case was investigated by Beaverton Police Detective Chad Opitz. In September 2018, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Beaverton Police Department were alerted to a concerning ad on a social media platform. The ad involved two young girls offering prostitution services. Authorities were able to identify the girls as ages 13 and 15. They also identified the suspect and discovered he was working as a daycare provider in Salem. Police learned that Tyler had communicated with the 13-year-old via social media last April and that he drove from Salem to

Truck and Trailer Roll, Spilling 40 Tons of Hot Asphalt

Silverton Fire Dist. The Silverton Fire District responded at approximately 8:30 am to a reported overturned large semi-truck and trailer just outside of Silverton on Silver Falls Hwy near Quall Rd. On arrival, the incident commander located a semi-truck on its side in the middle of the road and a trailer on its side down an embankment. Both truck and trailer were hauling hot asphalt which spilled onto the road and down the embankment. The total amount of asphalt spilled was approximately 40 tons. Additionally, about 20 gallons of diesel had spilled onto the roadway. To reduce the impact on the environment, fire crews worked quickly to contain the diesel and Silverton Public Works and the Truck Company worked together to scoop up the asphalt while it was still to clear the roadway quickly. The driver of the truck was checked by Fire and Woodburn Ambulance personnel and was transported to the hospital. As of this writing (11:30 am), the road was still closed as crews work t
