CANNABIS EXTRACTION LAB FIRE INVESTIGATION

Douglas Interagency Narcotics Team (DINT) On Saturday, February 26, 2022, detectives with the Douglas Interagency Narcotics Team (DINT) were informed of a commercial fire in the 300 block of Beaver Lane, in Roseburg, Oregon. The structure which was on fire was believed to be the site of a cannabis extraction lab.  DINT detectives arrived at the location and began an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fire. DINT detectives learned the building was sub-leased to two separate companies, who conducted unrelated business out of the building.  Observations made from outside the structure indicated there was equipment associated with the extraction of cannabis. DINT detectives also spoke with individuals who confirmed the location was being used as an ethanol-based cannabis extraction lab.  The fire resulted in the complete loss of the structure and lab, as well as the neighboring businesses property.  DINT detectives later served a search warrant at the l...

Junction City Police On February 26, 2022, at approximately 1432 hours, the Junction City Fire Department responded to 330 E. 5 th  Ave., Junction City, Oregon on a report of an incident of reckless burning of a fence on the east side of the property.  Prior to Fire Department arrival a passerby quashed the burn with a fire extinguisher.  The Fire Department requested Junction City Police investigate the incident. Later that day at approximately 1842 hours, Junction City Police were re-dispatched to the same location for a residential house fire.  Arriving six minutes later, officers learned the Fire Department had extinguished a fire that had consumed a portion of the east wall of the residence.  The duplex was unoccupied at the time, except for a dog that is doing fine and was taken into police protective custody.  No injuries were sustained by any citizens, firefighters, or officers and all damage was contained exclusively to the east side of the duplex....

UPDATE - ALBANY POLICE INVESTIGATING SUSPICIOUS DEATH

Albany Police On Friday, February 25th, 2022, at approximately 9:10 pm first responders from the Albany Fire Department and Police Department responded to a single-family residence in the 500 block of 26th Ave SE, Albany, following a 911 report of a male not conscious/not breathing. Responding officers located Albany resident Elvin “Al” Pierce, a 75-year-old male, deceased.   The on-going investigation has revealed Al Pierce died from homicidal violence.  Albany Police Detectives are looking for Al Pierce’s registered vehicle that is missing from the residence.  The vehicle is described as a tan/beige 2004 Buick Park Avenue 4-door bearing Oregon license plate 081FAX.  Shown is a picture of a similar vehicle:   Albany Police Detectives are also looking for Al Pierce’s roommate, Elizabeth Nicole Tyler Jimenez a.k.a. EARLY MORNING BARN FIRE UNDER INVESTIGATION

Marion Co. Sheriff's Office At shortly after 12:30 am on February 26, 2022, a large fire at a barn in the 11000 block of Hazelgreen Road NE was reported to 911 operators. Fire personnel from multiple area fire agencies responded and were on scene for several hours while extinguishing the 3-alarm fire at the 50,000 square foot barn. The barn is reported to have stored close to 1500 tons of wheat straw. Deputies responded to the scene along with fire investigators from the Oregon State Police and Office of the State Fire Marshal. Investigators believe the fire is suspicious in nature, the cause and origin of the fire have not yet been determined.  Firefighting efforts were led by the Silverton Fire District who was assisted by the following agencies: Mt. Jackson County Sheriff's Office Case # 22-1035 Missing Person:  Walzer, Richard R.  6’2” 220 lbs. Brown Hair & Brown Eyes Blueish Gray button Up Shirt and Blue Jeans Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) received a call Thursday regarding a vehicle that had been left in the parking lot north of the Gold Hill Sports Park. Upon arrival JCSO deputies discovered that the vehicle was rented by a missing person, Richard Walzer. JCSO Search and Rescue (SAR) responded and completed a search of this area along the Rogue River. Neither Walzer nor any additional clues were located.  JCSO is seeking the public's help in locating Walzer as this is a busy recreational area which leads us to believe Walzer was most likely seen or contacted by someone. Walzer was in a silver Nissan pickup truck and most likely had a full-size camera. Portland Police Bureau A man who stole a car with a 3-year-old child inside was arrested after he was chased and detained by community members. On Friday, February 25, 2022 at 8:07a.m., North Precinct officers responded to a report of a stolen vehicle in the 4000 block of Northeast 16th Avenue. The caller reported that someone had jumped in her running car and drove away with her 3-year-old son in the back seat. The boy's father, who was also there, got in his car and followed the suspect. The father used his vehicle to crash into the stolen vehicle near Northeast 21st Avenue and Northeast Multnomah Street. The suspect got out and ran. The father recovered the child from the mother's car and found him to be unhurt. The father told passers by what had happened, and community members pursued the suspect. UPDATE: STOLEN MOVING TRUCK AND TRAILER LOCATED THANKS TO KEEN EYE OF NEIGHBOR

Multnomah Co. Sheriff's Office UPDATE: Around 8:30 p.m., Thursday, February 24, a Gresham resident reported the stolen moving trailer was parked in front of a detached garage at an apartment complex, located in the 2800 block of NE Rene Avenue. The caller reported seeing a social media post about the theft, which occurred at a Troutdale hotel the night before. He also told dispatchers that he saw a man near the trailer, possibly in the act of unloading items into the garage. Multnomah County sheriff’s deputies and Gresham Police officers responded and located the stolen trailer, the couple’s belongings and a man believed to be the suspect. Deputies took the suspect, 49-year-old Joseph Damon Patterson, into custody. Inside the garage, deputies located many of the items reported stolen by the couple. SERIOUS INJURY CRASH INVOLVING 7 YEAR OLD BICYCLIST

McMinnville Police Dept. On 2/22/2022 at 4:24 pm, Officers from the McMinnville Police Department and Medics from the McMinnville Fire Department responded to an injury motor vehicle crash involving a 2017 Ford F150 pickup and a 7 year old male on a bicycle.  The operator of the pickup, a 32 year old male resident of McMinnville, was not injured, remained at the crash location, and is cooperating with the investigation. The 7 year old male bicyclist sustained serious injuries.  He was transported by McMinnville Fire Department Ambulance to an awaiting Life Flight helicopter at the Willamette Valley Medical Center, which transported him to the trauma center at Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland.  This investigation is still active and ongoing. The initial investigation indicates the bicyclist was riding north within the marked crosswalk of Adams Street when he was struck by the pickup travelling west on 2 nd  Street.   We are interested in speaki...

BENTON COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE INVESTIGATES FATAL CRASH NEAR PHILOMATH

Benton Co. Sheriff's Office CORVALLIS, Ore.  – On February 23, 2022, at 7:08 am, the Benton County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a single-vehicle crash on Fern Road, near Powerhouse Rd, south of Philomath. Twenty-six-year-old Mathew Aleksander Jardini of Templeton, California, was pronounced dead at the scene. The Benton County Crash Team responded to the scene and determined Jardini, in his 2000 Chevy Astro Van, was traveling west on Fern Road approaching a corner which he failed to negotiate and crashed head-on into a tree.  A notification was made to Jardini’s family Wednesday afternoon by the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office. The Benton County Crash Team was assisted by the Philomath Police Department and Philomath Fire Department. THIEVES STEAL LOADED MOVING TRUCK OVERNIGHT IN TROUTDALE, DEPUTIES SEEKING PUBLIC'S HELP

Multnomah Co. Sheriff's Office A couple moving from Arizona to Portland, Oregon, had their fully-loaded moving truck stolen from a Troutdale hotel parking lot overnight while they were asleep. The U-Haul truck and trailer contained nearly everything they owned. Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office patrol deputies responded to the theft report at around 1:30 a.m. Thursday, February 24 th . The couple was staying at a hotel in the 1000 block of NW Graham Road. The couple reported that they parked the U-Haul moving truck and trailer adjacent to their hotel room. Around 1 a.m., they found the moving truck and trailer to be gone. Deputies reviewed the hotel’s security camera footage. Video shows a silver SUV with two people enter the hotel parking lot around 11 p.m. One person is seen breaking into the truck, starting it and driving away with the trailer. GRANTS PASS WOMAN ARRESTED AFTER DOMESTIC ASSAULT WITH SCISSORS

Grants Pass Police Department Grants Pass, Ore. – This afternoon the Grants Pass Police Department responded to the Harbeck Village Apartments in Grants Pass regarding a report of domestic violence. Upon their arrival officers found a 36-year-old male had received serious injuries after reportedly being assaulted with two pairs of scissors by Mercedez Estep, a 29-year-old female. Estep was located nearby and detained by officers. Following a thorough investigation, Grants Pass Police Detectives placed Estep under arrest and lodged her at the Josephine County Jail for two counts of Second Degree Assault involving Domestic Violence and two counts of Unlawful Use of a Weapon.  The investigation is continuing and further details cannot be released at this time.

HOMEMADE BOMB FOUND AT SHERWOOD MIDDLE SCHOOL

Sherwood Police Dept. Tonight at approximately 6:11PM Officers were dispatched to a suspicious circumstance at the Sherwood Middle School.  A ball wrapped in tape with a fuse protruding from it was located in the middle of a field by a community member playing with their dog. Officers evacuated the area and contacted the Explosive Detonation Unit (EDU) and Engine 033 from TVFR.  At approximately 7:02PM EDU arrived on scene and confirmed it was a homemade bomb. They safely detonated the bomb on scene.  EDU experts say these are common devices that can be activated from fuse, friction, or puncture.  This is device incredibly dangerous and can cause serious physical injury or death. If you see something that looks similar to this; do not touch it and immediately call 911.  This is also a good reminder keep your dogs on leash - the community member’s dog originally picked it up.  We are continuing to search more areas of the Middle School and parks, fields, and...

FAMILY ESCAPES RAPIDLY SPREADING HOUSE FIRE

Sweet Home Fire Dist. Occupants of a home on Willow Street in Sweet Home noticed an odor of smoke around 1:30 in the morning.  They located a fire in an attached pump house for the home's well.  Due to the freezing temperatures, they were unable to extinguish the fire themselves.  They were however able to wake the other occupants of the home and evacuate them to safety.  The fire rapidly spread through the home, and within minutes it was fully-involved.  The home is in a rare, un-hydranted area of the City which hindered the Fire District's ability to extinguish the fire.  The Incident Commander requested a second-alarm assignment, bringing mutual aid from Lebanon, Brownsville, and Halsey.  Water tenders from Sweet Home and Halsey provided the water supply which allowed firefighters to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby homes that were threatened by radiant heat and wind-driven ember showers carrying large pieces of burning debris.  Three ...

BRANDON MATTHEW NAGY CONVICTED ON MULTIPLE COUNTS IN CHILD ABUSE CASE

District Attorney's Office HILLSBORO, Ore.- On February 18, 2022, a Washington County jury found Brandon Matthew Nagy guilty of first-degree assault, three counts of first-degree criminal mistreatment, and three counts of third-degree assault. Senior Deputy District Attorney Andy Pulver prosecuted the case before Judge Erik Buchér.  In early 2017, Mr. Nagy was left alone with his girlfriend’s infant son. Shortly thereafter, the child’s mother received a call from the defendant indicating that the boy appeared to be having a seizure. Medics arrived and discovered that numerous abusive injuries had been inflicted on the child.  A child abuse pediatrician with CARES Northwest evaluated the boy and determined that he had suffered an acute traumatic brain injury consistent with child physical abuse. Gresham Police Dept UPDATE- Gresham, Ore.-The previously reported missing woman, Wanda Och, was located in a Portland hospital waiting room within minutes of the press release being sent out and family is on their way to pick her up. Our thanks to everyone who helped look for her. Gresham, Ore.— Gresham Police is asking for the public’s assistance in locating missing 84-year-old woman with Alzheimer’s, emphysema, and diabetes who was last heard from at 1:30 this morning. Wanda Och lives in the 500 block of NW Division Street in Gresham and called her adult son in Fairview from a 7-11 in the 6300 block of SE Harmony in Milwaukie saying she was lost and needed help. ROBERT WADE JACKSON SENTENCED TO 25 YEARS IN ATTEMPTED MURDER CASE

District Attorney's Office HILLSBORO, Ore.- On February 16, 2022, Robert Wade Jackson pleaded guilty to attempted murder, first-degree assault, first-degree sexual abuse, first-degree attempted sodomy, and first-degree burglary. He was then sentenced to 25 years in prison by Washington County Circuit Court Judge Oscar Garcia. Chief Deputy District Attorney Bracken McKey prosecuted the case against the defendant.  The defendant is a convicted sex offender. On July 29, 2018, Mr. Jackson broke into the bedroom of a young girl living in his apartment complex. The victim was awakened to a stranger in her room standing by her bed. The defendant was holding a knife and was displaying his genitals. He then pulled the victim towards him and kissed her on the lips. She began to struggle. FOUND SAFE-GRESHAM POLICE SEARCHING FOR ENDANGERED MISSING ADULT

Gresham Police Dept Gresham, Ore.— Shortly after the previous press release was sent out, Kenneth Childs was located by Portland Police, and he has been reunited with family. The Gresham Police Department thanks everyone who helped look for him.  Gresham, Ore.— Gresham Police is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a missing 73-year-old man who gets confused easily and is not dressed for the cold weather. Kenneth Childs left his home in the 3900 block of SE 14th in Gresham near the intersection of SE Orient and SE Barnes, on foot, at around 11:30am today. He has graying curly brown hair, hazel eyes, and a white moustache and was last seen wearing a green plaid shirt, a Vietnam Veteran baseball hat, and blue jeans. He is an amputee, missing his left leg, and is using forearm crutches. He is approximately 5-feet-6-inches tall and weighs around 160 pounds. UPDATE: OREGON STATE POLICE & LOCAL PUBLIC SAFETY AGENCIES WORKING SEVERAL MULTI-VEHICLE CRASHES ALONG I-84 BETWEEN PENDLETON AND LA GRANDE

Oregon State Police The Oregon State Police along with several local agencies worked together throughout the night to get Interstate 84 open and cleared of vehicles.  Troopers from the Pendleton and La Grande Area Commands along with crews from the below-listed agencies worked all night to get them over 170 vehicles out of the 1.75 mile stretch of the interstate.  Uninjured persons who could not otherwise drive from the scene due to the blockage or damaged vehicles were transported to the Pendleton Convention Center for reunification.   A local taxi company and a church provided vans to transport persons from the convention center to local hotels as needed.    A total of 71 people were transported from the crash scene to the reunification center via busses. Initial numbers collected were that there were 17 patients transported from the crash scene with an additional 2 transported after having arrived at the reunification center. She was safely reunited with her family.  The Sheriff's Office would like to thank the community for their assistance.  ### ROSEBURG, Ore.  - The Douglas County Sheriff's Office is currently searching for missing 9 year-old Sunday Jones. She left her residence  in the 200-block of Tucson Ct. in the Melrose area on foot with little clothing at approximately 9:00 pm on Monday, February 21, 2022.  She is described as 5'00" 110 lbs with black hair and brown eyes.  If located, please contact 9-1-1.

ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON ARREST

Grants Pass Police Department On 02-21-22 at approximately 10:33 am, officers from the Grants Pass Police Department responded to the area of Rogue River Hwy and Parkdale for a report of an assault with a bat.  As officers were responding, it was determined a male suspect, later identified to be William “Hank” Haywood, had assaulted two people while at the Lil' Pantry Market on Rogue River Hwy. It was reported that Haywood assaulted a customer, unprovoked, then proceeded to also assault an employee of the business who attempted to intervene.  Haywood fled the area in a vehicle prior to officers arriving on scene.  Detectives responded and assisted with the investigation, also to begin attempting to locate Haywood.  After further information was obtained, it was learned Haywood was wearing a pistol on his person at the time of the assault.  Haywood did not display or threaten anyone at the time of the incident with the firearm.  It was further discovered tha...
