MAN ARRESTED AFTER VIOLENT ASSAULT OF ROOMMATE

Washington Co. Sheriff's Office On Friday, July 30, 2021, at 1:47 p.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a disturbance with a weapon in the 4500 block of Mueller Drive in the community of Aloha, which is part of the  Enhanced Sheriff’s Patrol District  (ESPD).  70-year-old, David Croft, called to report that he had just stabbed his female roommate. Croft was arrested without incident. The victim was located outside of the residence and was provided life-saving efforts by deputies until she was transported to a hospital. The victim is expected to survive her injuries.  The initial investigation by deputies on the scene determined that the victim was struck with a hammer on the head several times prior to being stabbed. The investigation was turned over to detectives from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office  Violent Crimes Unit .  Croft was charged with two counts of assault in the first degree and lodged at the Washington County Jail, where his bail is set

SHOOTING SUSPECTS APPREHENDED AFTER CHASE

Lane Co. Sheriff's Office LCSO Case #21-4121 On 07/23/21 the Lane County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of N. Morningstar Rd. and Enterprise Rd. in Pleasant Hill after receiving reports that shots had been fired.  A silver Volkswagen Golf and a 2001 Silver Mitsubishi car were observed fleeing the area moments later.  On 07/31/21 at around 8:30am a Trooper with the Oregon State Police spotted a vehicle matching the  description of the Mitsubishi and attempted to initiate a traffic stop.  The Mitsubishi backed into the Trooper’s vehicle then fled at a high rate of speed.  Troopers and Deputies pursued the vehicle and spike strips were successfully deployed as the vehicle was driving on Interstate 5.  The vehicle eventually came to a stop and the occupants were taken into custody.  During the chase the occupants of the Mitsubishi discarded a firearm out the window.  This firearm was recovered shortly thereafter.  Also at one point the vehicle struck the front end of a Lane Cou

MISSING PERSON FROM FLORENCE AREA

Lane Co. Sheriff's Office 21-4243 A family member reported to the Lane County Sheriff’s Office that on 07/29/21, 71 year old Ronald Kenneth Aduddel had left his residence in the 87000blk of Hwy. 101 near Florence and did not return as anticipated.  He was last seen on that date at about 12:00pm. Aduddel is described as a white male adult standing approximately 6’00” and weighing approximately 220lbs.  He has gray hair, green eyes and a white mustache.  He is believed to be driving a newer blue ford F-350 crew cab pickup bearing OR Plate #437MEU Aduddel recently suffered a stroke and may potentially suffer from memory problems.  Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is asked to contact the Lane County Sheriff’s Office at 541-682-4150 opt. 1.

CREWS EXTINGUISH SPRINGFIELD HOUSE FIRE

Eugene Springfield Fire Springfield, OR.  Eugene Springfield Fire responded to a reported mobile home fire in the Country Manor Mobile Home Park located at 4475 Daisy St in Springfield Friday afternoon.  Arriving crews found a fire burning inside the home with all occupants accounted for.  Crews extinguished the fire and checked for any victims or pets.  The cause is under investigation and there were no reported injuries to occupants or Firefighters.

JAYSON HARRISON BURTON FOUND GUILTY IN CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE CASE

District Attorney's Office HILLSBORO, Ore.- On July 28, 2021, after deliberating for less than thirty minutes, a Washington County jury found Jayson Harrison Burton, age 38, guilty of third-degree rape and second-degree sexual abuse. Deputy District Attorney Rayney Meisel prosecuted this case before Judge Charles Bailey.  The victim was 14 years old when she ran away from her home in the state of Washington. She called the defendant, whom she knew through her mother, for a ride. Instead of taking her to her friend’s house as requested, the defendant drove her to a hotel in Hillsboro, Oregon, where he was living part-time. The defendant provided the minor with alcohol and marijuana and had sexual intercourse with her before driving her back to Washington the following day. He urged her not to tell anyone. DEATH INVESTIGATION - LOCATION OF MISSING KAYAKER

Lane Co. Sheriff's Office *UPDATE* 07/30/21 On Friday July 30th, 2021 shortly after 10:00am the Lane County Sheriff’s Office along with local fire authorities were advised that a citizen located a deceased person in the water of Fall Creek Reservoir.  Sheriff’s Office personnel responded and confirmed the body to be that of missing kayaker, Glenn Hornsby.  Hornsby, a 53 year old Eugene resident, was reported missing on Monday July 30th.  His kayak and vehicle were in the Fall Creek area that same night.    The Lane County Sheriff’s Office is working with the Lane County Medical Examiner’s Office to determine a cause of death.  At this time there are no indications of foul play.

FATAL TRAFFIC CRASH - MARCOLA RD.

Sheriff's Office LCSO Case #21-4229 On 07/29/21 at approximately 1:15pm, Lane County Sheriff’s Deputies along with paramedics from Mohawk Valley Fire responded to Marcola Rd. near Pico St. regarding a head-on crash between two vehicles.  The driver of one of the involved vehicles did not survive.  His name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. Preliminary investigation reveals that a dark maroon sedan was driving southbound on Marcola Rd. when for an unknown reason it crossed into the oncoming northbound lane.  A white Ford truck towing a travel trailer was traveling northbound and the vehicles collided.  Medics attempted to perform emergency life-saving procedures on one of the drivers, however he did not survive. The occupants of the other vehicle were transported to an area hospital with what is believed to be minor injuries.  Marcola Rd. near Pico Ln. is going to be closed to traffic in both directions for the next couple of hours.  Alternate routes th

Man arrested for DUII after crash into police vehicle

Eugene Police Department On July 29 at 2:29 a.m., there was a Eugene Police Vehicle was parked on W. 7th at Madison helping with a crash at the intersection that had occurred earlier. A sergeant noticed an oncoming Plymouth Sundance, and when it didn’t appear to be stopping, he warned two other officers in the area. The sergeant and officers were reported to be less than 10 feet away when the Plymouth skidded and rear-ended the patrol vehicle.  The police vehicle was not occupied and had its headlights/running lights on and amber light bar light on when the crash occurred. Police contacted the driver, Michael Levi Baranko, age 28, and conducted an investigation. Baranko was taken to Lane County Jail on charges of DUII and Reckless Driving. He was cited for He was cited for Failure to Yield to an Emergency Vehicle and Failure to Carry his Driver’s License. The vehicle was towed from the intersection and impounded. Case 21-11544

FATAL CRASH ON HWY 101 - LANE COUNTY

Oregon State Police On Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at approximately 7:20 A.M., Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a two vehicle crash on Hwy 101 near milepost 196.  Preliminary investigation revealed a Ford Contour, operated by Rhonda Wild (51) of Fresno, CA. was northbound in the southbound lane when it collided with a southbound Nissan Titan, pulling a boat, operated by Jason Smith (46) of Prineville. Wild and Smith sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced deceased. Two passengers from the Nissan, Heidi Smith (47) of Prineville and a juvenile, were transported to the Florence Hospital with injuries.   OSP was assisted by the Lane County Sheriff's Office, EMS, and ODOT.

DEATH INVESTIGATION - WILLAMETTE RIVER

Sheriff's Office At approximately 6:05pm today authorities received the report of a non-responsive person in the Willamette River near the Ferry St. bridge.  Lane County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue personnel and deputies responded along with the Eugene Police Department and Eugene/Springfield Fire Department.  The person was located and determined to be deceased.  This incident is under active investigation and not many details are yet available.  At this time there has been no obvious indication of foul play.  Updates will be provided as they become available.  Anyone with information that has not yet spoken to investigators is asked to contact the Lane County Sheriff’s Office at 541-682-4150 opt. 1.

UPDATE: Missing 17-year old PCT hiker FOUND!!!

Jackson County Sheriff's Office JCSO / Klamath County Search and Rescue and an ODF Helitack crew located Elijah Manns this afternoon and he has been reunited with his father.  Thanks to ODF Southwest Oregon District helitack type 3 helicopter for locating Elijah. The crew of five firefighters plus a pilot typically get dropped off at fires in remote locations and help with recon missions. Today they assisted with the Search and Rescue mission. Overall we had 10 JCSO SAR volunteers and 4+ from Klamath County SAR doing both ground and mounted (horseback) searches. —————————————————— ORIGINAL POST: MISSING 17-YEAR OLD hiking through on PCT trail north from Mexico to Canada. MISSING KAYAKER - FALL CREEK RESERVOIR

Sheriff's Office LCSO Case #21-4167 The Lane County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help with information regarding missing 53 year old Glenn Hornsby.  Hornsby went Kayaking at Fall Creek Reservoir on Monday, July 26th at about 9:00am.  He spoke to friends at about 11:30am and stated he would be home soon.  When Hornsby didn’t return home family responded to the area and found Hornsby’s vehicle along Big Fall Creek Rd.  Lane County Sheriff Search and Rescue personnel responded and located Hornsby’s kayak upside down and his dog nearby.  Horsnby (depicted on the left) is described as a white male adult standing approximately 6’00” and weighing approximately 205lbs.  He has gray hair and blue eyes.  He was last seen wearing an army green shirt and gray or black shorts.  Anyone with information to Hornsby’s whereabouts or may have seen him on Monday, July 26th is asked to call the Lane County Sheriff’s Office at 541-682-4150 opt. 1 . 

MISSING 17-YEAR OLD hiking through on PCT trail north from Mexico to Canada

Jackson County Sheriff's Office Elijah Manns was last seen by his father hiking North at Brown Mountain shelter in Southern Oregon with instructions to meet up at HWY 140 in the Fish Lake Area. Elijah has been missing for over 24 hours. He was last seen wearing the clothing pictured here. If anyone has seen him anytime since the morning of July 25th, please call 911.

Clackamas Co. Sheriff's Office The body recovered from the Clackamas River on July 23 has been identified as that of  Christopher Kevin Copp , 43. Family notifications are complete.  Mr. Copp was last seen walking away from his home on Monday, Feb. 15, 2021. 

BRUSH/GRASS FIRE IN THE AREA OF FIR BUTTE LN. AND BRIDGES LN. - EUGENE

Lane Co. Sheriff's Office Lane County Sheriff’s Deputies along with authorities from several area fire agencies are in the area of Fir Butte Ln. and Bridges Ln. for an active brush/grass fire.  The fire is estimated at approximately 6 acres in size and so far appears to be moving to the west/southwest.  Several residences along Royal Ave. west of Fir Butte Ln. have been contacted and encouraged to evacuate.  So far there have been no reports of injuries or structures lost.  Several firefighting resources are on scene and the community is asked to stay out of the area until the fire is under control.

SEEKING INFORMATION - SHOOTING INVESTIGATION

Grants Pass Dept. of Public Safety On June 10, 2021 at 9:41pm, the Grants Pass Department of Public Safety (GPDPS) received a report of a drive-by shooting occurring in the 2000 block of NW Hawthorne Ave. Two female occupants yelled at five males before firing several rounds from the vehicle. After shooting at the males, the vehicle continued northbound on Hawthorne Ave while firing additional shots at two more people. No one was injured, and the suspect vehicle fled outbound on NW Vine St. We are asking for the public's assistance in identifying and/or locating the vehicle and suspects. ROSEBURG FIRE DEPARTMENT RECEIVES NEW HAZ MAT VEHICLES THRU PARTNERSHIP WITH STATE FIRE MARSHAL'S OFFICE

Roseburg Fire Dept. The City of Roseburg Fire Department is excited to welcome two, brand new, state of the art Haz Mat vehicles into the department fleet.  Both vehicles, which are owned by the Oregon Office of the State Fire Marshal (OSFM) were provided as part of an agreement and partnership that OSFM has with the City of Roseburg Fire Department.  Within the partnership, OSFM provides training, equipment, and emergency response vehicles for hazardous material incident response.  In exchange, the City of Roseburg Fire Department provides personnel for incident response and maintenance of equipment as part of the OSFM Regional Hazardous Materials Emergency Response Team #1.  The OSFM also has agreements and partnerships with twelve other Regional Hazardous Materials Emergency Response Teams. Illegal Marijuana Grow Bust

Jackson County Sheriff's Office CENTRAL POINT, Ore – A task force raid on a black-market marijuana grow near Central Point uncovered illegal marijuana, guns, and unsafe living conditions. Authorities from multiple federal, state and local agencies discovered nearly 7,400 marijuana plants in 35 non-permitted greenhouses, more than 1,800 lbs. of processed marijuana, 71 vials of marijuana extract, 10 ½ grams of cocaine, six guns, a large amount of ammunition, and more than $9 thousand cash. During the investigation 35 people were detained and interviewed. At around 7 a.m. Thursday, July 22nd, Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO), Medford Police Department (MPD), and the Illegal Marijuana Enforcement Team (IMET), along with Medford Area Drug and Gang Enforcement (MADGE), US Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), and US Marshals served a warrant at a black-market marijuana grow on the 2000 block of Vilas Rd. near Central Point. JOSIAH AUGUSTINE JOHNSON SENTENCED TO 70 MONTHS IN PRISON AFTER ARMED ROBBERY OF TAXICAB DRIVER

District Attorney's Office HILLSBORO, Ore.- On July 15, 2021, Josiah Augustine Johnson pleaded guilty to second-degree robbery and unlawful use of a weapon, involving the use of a firearm. On July 26, 2021, Judge Oscar Garcia sentenced the defendant to 70 months in prison. Senior Deputy District Attorney Allison Brown prosecuted the defendant.  On September 14, 2020 the defendant requested a cab ride from Gresham, Oregon to Beaverton, Oregon. When the driver arrived, he noticed the defendant acting strangely and asked to be paid for the ride up front. The defendant pulled out cash and the driver immediately noticed a counterfeit bill. The driver then asked the defendant to give him his cell phone as collateral until the ride was complete.  At one point during the ride, Mr. Johnson asked the victim if he had “personal protection” on him. The driver confirmed he did not have a gun. Once the ride concluded, the defendant tried to pay the driver with the counterfeit bill

Sheriff's Office helps recover body from Clackamas River; ID of remains unknown

Clackamas County Sheriff's Office https://www.clackamas.us/sheriff/2021-07-26-CCSOPR-BodyRecovery.html Please reference CCSO Case # 21-015585 At around 3:30 p.m. on Friday, July 24, 2021, a person snorkeling in the Clackamas River reported seeing a body near Clackamette Park in Oregon City.  The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office Dive Team responded to the scene -- along with personnel from Oregon City Police, Gladstone Police, Clackamas Fire District #1, and Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue.  A body was found submerged in 12 feet of water, downstream from the 99E/McLoughlin Bridge.  Divers retrieved the body from the river and found its state of decomposition was extreme; identity and cause of death could not be immediately determined.  A Clackamas County Medical Examiner responded to the scene and examined the remains. An autopsy will be performed at the Oregon State Police Crime Lab to determine cause of death. At this writing, the identity of the deceased and the amount of ti
