SUSPECT IN ASSAULT CASE SOUGHT, PUBLIC ASSISTANCE REQUESTED

Portland Police Bureau On Thursday, June 15, 2023, at 7:04p.m., East Precinct officers were dispatched to what was originally reported as a pedestrian struck by a car in the 3800 block of Southeast 52nd Avenue. After first responders arrived, they were told it was actually an assault. Portland Fire & Rescue was on scene before officers, and they notified PPB of the assault and that both of the men involved had already left the area. Officers began searching for the victim. A witness told officers the victim was inside one of the nearby food carts. It took officers several minutes to convince the victim to come out of the food cart to talk with them. Once outside, the officers could see that he was injured. They immediately offered to summon EMS, but he declined. The victim told officers he was delivering food and was attacked. FATAL CRASH - HWY 101 - LANE COUNTY

Oregon State Police On Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at approximately 12:10 P.M., the Oregon State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on Hwy-101, near milepost 208, in Lane County.   The preliminary investigation indicated a southbound silver GMC Sonoma, operated by Raymond Louis Eby Jr. (35) of Molalla, crossed into the on-coming northbound lane for unknown reasons. The GMC Sonoma collided (offset) head-on with a northbound white Toyota Rav4, operated by Shawna Michelle Coolidge (51) of Florence. As a result of the collision, the GMC Sonoma rolled over and came to an uncontrolled rest on its roof blocking the northbound lane. The GMC Sonoma received heavy front-end damage. The Toyota Rav4 left the roadway after the collision and came to an uncontrolled rest down a small embankment adjacent to the northbound lanes. The Toyota Rav4 received heavy front-end damage.    The driver of the GMC Sonoma (Eby Jr.) and driver of the Toyota Rav4 (Coolidge) were declared deceased at the scene.   

DRUG DEALER SENTENCED TO MORE THAN 12 YEARS IN FEDERAL PRISON FOR ROLE IN FENTANYL DEATH OF HILLSBORO MAN

U.S. Attorney's Office - District of Oregon PORTLAND, Ore.—A Portland area drug dealer was sentenced to federal prison Wednesday for distributing counterfeit pills containing fentanyl that caused the fatal overdose of a Hillsboro, Oregon man. David Weaver, 40, a Portland resident, was sentenced to 150 months in federal prison and five years’ supervised release. According to court documents, on February 3, 2021, a 25-year-old man was found deceased by his parents at their home in Hillsboro after he consumed a counterfeit Oxycodone pill containing fentanyl. In less than three weeks, law enforcement uncovered a four-person drug distribution chain whose illicit actions led to the young man’s death. Investigators identified Weaver as the person who purchased the deadly counterfeit pills from a drug trafficker who transported them from California to Oregon. Weaver resold the pills to others, including the individuals who supplied the pills to the Hillsboro overdose victim. On February 18

FATAL CRASH - INTERSTATE 5 - DOUGLAS COUNTY

Oregon State Police On Saturday, June 24, 2023, at approximately 10:20 P.M., the Oregon State Police responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian crash on Interstate 5, near milepost 123, in Douglas County.   The preliminary investigation indicated a black Land Rover Range Rover, operated by Jonnie Leroy Puz Jr. (54) of Roseburg, was traveling south on Interstate 5 in the fast lane when it struck a pedestrian, Betty Hamm (54) of Grants Pass, who was traveling west across the interstate.   The operator (Puz Jr.) of the Land Rover immediately stopped and fully cooperated with the investigation.    The pedestrian (Hamm) was pronounced deceased at the scene.    The roadway was impacted for approximately 3 hours during the on-scene investigation.  The cause of the crash is currently unknown.   OSP was assisted by Roseburg Police Department, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, ODOT, and Douglas County Medical Examiner’s Office.

DRUG DEALER SENTENCED TO 8 YEARS IN FEDERAL PRISON FOR ROLE IN FENTANYL DEATH OF YAMHILL COUNTY TEEN

U.S. Attorney's Office - District of Oregon PORTLAND, Ore.—An Oregon man was sentenced to federal prison Tuesday for distributing counterfeit pills containing fentanyl that caused the fatal overdose of a Yamhill County teen. Dylan Wilson, 26, of Lafayette, Oregon, was sentenced to 96 months in federal prison and three years’ supervised release. According to court documents, on July 21, 2021, Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the fatal overdose of a 15-year-old in Dayton, Oregon. A search of the victim’s cell phone and an interview with one of the victim’s minor friends revealed that the victim had recently purchased what they thought were Oxycodone pills from Wilson. The victim was not aware that the counterfeit pills, labeled with “M30,” contained fentanyl. A toxicology report later confirmed the victim died of a fentanyl overdose. FATAL CRASH - HWY 101 - LANE COUNTY

Oregon State Police On Saturday, June 24, 2023, at approximately 10:11 P.M., the Oregon State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on Hwy 101, near milepost 186, in Lane County.   The preliminary investigation indicated a black Ford F-250, operated by Ravi Artemus Polini (24) of Fort Bragg (CA), was northbound on Hwy 101, near Sutton Lake Rd, when it left its lane of travel, crossed over a turn lane and left the roadway. After leaving the roadway, the Ford crossed Sutton Lake Rd. and T-boned a blue Chevy Bolt, operated by Logan Jacob Scott (31) of Florence, that was stopped at a stop sign.    The operator of the Chevy (Scott) was declared deceased at the scene.   OSP was assisted by ODOT.

VEHICLES STRUCK BY THROWN ROCKS IN FAIRVIEW

Multnomah Co. Sheriff's Office On Monday, June 26, 2023, just before 4:00 a.m., 911 calls started coming in from motorists reporting rocks being thrown at their cars as they drove. Several motorists reported their cars had been struck while traveling in the area of Ne 223 rd  Ave between NE Sandy Blvd. and the railroad bridge in Fairview. Cars were struck while driving on 223 rd  Ave. as well as on I-84. Callers reported their vehicles being struck by rocks as big as softballs. One vehicle was struck by a cinder block (see photo).  As responding MCSO deputies arrived in the area they saw three people running away from the location. All were apprehended. Two juveniles were taken to JDH and one adult was taken to Multnomah County Detention Center. They were booked on multiple counts of criminal mischief and reckless endangerment. WOMAN DIES IN CRASH AFTER SUSPECT ELUDES POLICE

Portland Police Bureau On Sunday, June 25, 2023, officers from the East Precinct responded to a crash near the intersection of Northeast Glisan Street and Northeast 147th Avenue involving five vehicles. The crash was a result of a suspect who was attempting to elude Gresham Police. Unfortunately, a woman died in the crash. The incident began today at 6:11 p.m., when a Gresham Police officer was in the area of Northeast 181st Avenue and Northeast Pacific Street when the officer saw a car that matched the description of one involved in a string of armed robberies. The officer attempted to get behind the suspect car at Northeast 181st Avenue and Northeast Glisan Street, but the car took off at a high rate of speed before the officer could try to pull it over. The suspect was traveling west on Northeast Glisan Street when he rear-ended two cars, one unoccupied parked car and another car that was occupied by two people. Douglas Forest Protective Association Callahan / Roseburg, OR: On Sunday, June 25, 2023, at approximately 5:15 pm., crews from the Douglas Forest Protective Association (DPFA) responded to a smoke column that was located by DFPA’s camera detection. The identified smoke column was located near Bear Creek, in the Callahans of Roseburg, OR. DFPA’s responding air attack was first on the scene and estimated the size to be 5-10 acres, located in a fell and buck timber on private property, 7.2 miles east of Melqua Road, and 14.2 miles northeast of the developed city of Roseburg. 6 engines, 2 squads, 2 dozers, 1 tender, 2 helicopters, and 1 fixed-wing air attack are currently performing an aggressive initial attack. Dozers are currently making good progress and additional crews from CFPA are making their way to the scene. Crews will be engaged on the fire throughout the night and planning for tomorrow’s continued attack is currently in progress. An updated report will be shared as more details
