Two Individuals Charged With Trafficking Large Amounts Of Meth In Eastern Oregon

Williams announced today that an Ontario, Oregon resident, and a Weiser, Idaho resident have been charged with interstate trafficking of methamphetamines and other drugs.             Alma Lorena Pacheco Ortiz, 52, and Victor Gomez Casa 26, have been charged by criminal complaint with possession of controlled substances with intent to distribute, and Pacheco was also charged with possession of a firearm by a person unlawfully in the United States. “Rural communities across Oregon have been ravaged by the effects of methamphetamine addiction” said U.S. Attorney Billy J. OFFICER SHOT BY SUSPECT AFTER FOOT PURSUIT

  Salem Police Dept. Salem, Ore. . ––  On October 29, 2020 at approximately 9:50 a.m., a Salem Police patrol officer was conducting a traffic investigation when the involved vehicle crashed at 17th and Court STS NE. The driver fled from the vehicle on foot. The officer, on foot, pursued the driver into a resident backyard on Court ST NE. Shortly after confronting the driver in the backyard, shots were fired. The officer was struck in the ankle. The suspect was also struck by gunfire and pronounced deceased at the scene. The officer was treated by medical staff and released. As per Salem Police policy, the involved officer has been placed on administrative leave. In accordance with Senate Bill 111, the Salem Police Department has requested the Oregon State Police be the lead investigative agency for the incident. Deputies Seek Whereabouts of Azalea Man Following Pursuit

  GLENDALE, Ore.  - An Azalea man eluded deputies on Tuesday afternoon and now the Sheriff's Office is asking the public for tips as to his whereabouts.  On Tuesday, October 27, 2020, at 3:55 pm, a deputy attempted to stop a blue 2002 Honda Accord when the driver, 47-year-old John Curtis Williams of Azalea, accelerated and lead deputies on a seven mile pursuit.  Curtis lost control of the vehicle and spun out on a dirt road in the 1000-block of McCullough Creek Road. After the vehicle came to rest, Curtis fled from the vehicle on foot and was able to get away.  Deputies are now asking for tips from the public as to Curtis' whereabouts. OREGON STATE POLICE REQUESTING ASSISTANCE LOCATING DRIVER INVOLVED IN CRASH - JACKSON COUNTY

  Oregon State Police On Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at approximately 5:30 P.M., Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a single vehicle rollover crash on Hwy 62 near milepost 37.  Responders located a badly damaged Ford Explorer with no occupants.  It is believed the operator was Matthew Lang (33) of Bend.   Lang has not contacted friends or family since the crash. Jackson County Search and Rescue is currently searching the area for Lang.    Lang is 6 feet tall 185 lbs with brown hair. SHERIFF'S OFFICE INVESTIGATING FATAL TRAIN CRASH INVOLVING PEDESTRIAN

  Lane Co. Sheriff's Office On October 26, 2020 shortly before 1:00 p.m., the Lane County Sheriff's Office received a report of a train crash involving a pedestrian on Jasper Rd. near Mount Vernon Rd. in Springfield.  Deputies responded with Pleasant Hill Goshen Fire and Rescue and located a male near the tracks who was pronounced deceased on scene.   The Lane County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death with the Lane County Medical Examiner's Office. The identity of the deceased has not yet been determined.    Bob Straub Parkway is temporarily closed at Jasper Road as deputies investigate, and is anticipated to be reopened around approximately 4:00 p.m.

MAN ARRESTED ON NUMEROUS THEFT CHARGES RELATED TO LOCAL CAR BREAK-INS

  Roseburg Police Dept. On Monday, October 26th, 2020 just before 0830 A.M., Roseburg Police Officers went to the Howard Johnson motel in Roseburg to attempt to arrest Trask Austin Phelps.  Phelps' probation officer called and reported he received information Phelps was at the motel, and Phelps had an active warrant for his arrest.   When Officers arrived and tried contacting Phelps at the room, he tried going out the back window.  As he was emerging from the window, an officer could see Phelps was holding a handgun in each hand.  The officer challenged Phelps, and tried to Tase him but the Taser missed, and Phelps retreated back into the room.  Phelps then ran out the front door, but the officers on that side no longer saw him carrying any firearms.  A foot pursuit ensued through several yards and businesses in the area and Phelps was eventually caught hiding under a shed on Neuner Street.  Officers challenged Phelps at gunpoint, and he gave up and was arrested without further inc

Suspect Arrested in White City Homicide

  Jackson Co. Sheriff's Office WHITE CITY,OR–On 10-22-20 at 1001 hours, dispatch received a report of an assault with a weapon at 8005 Gladstone Ave., White City, Oregon. Deputies found the victim deceased at the scene and learned the suspect had fled on foot.  The investigation has determined that the victim was stabbed with a knife by a male who frequented  the address. The victim was a resident at the house. The victim is identified as Amanda Gail Berthelot, 63 years old, of White City, Oregon. The suspect was originally contacted approximately 90 minutes after the stabbing in the 2600 block of Falcon St in White City. He was detained on a Parole Violation on an Original charge of Unlawful Use of a Weapon and lodged at Jackson County Jail. The suspect is identified as Hector Cruz Orozco, birth date 08/24/1996  who has multiple listed addresses in  White City. On 102320 additional charges were added on Orozco. Impaired Driver Strikes Large Boulder, Propels it into Occupied Parked Car

Sheriff's Office On Thursday, October 22, 2020, at 11:22 p.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a three-vehicle crash in the 19200 block of SW TV Highway in Aloha. When they arrived, they saw that a 2003 Ford F-150 had struck a large landscaping boulder on the north side of the road. The impact of the collision propelled the boulder about 75 feet, where it collided with a parked 2004 Toyota Corolla. Two people were in the Corolla at the time. The Ford truck continued another 85 feet, where it went up and over the rear of a 2003 Chevrolet Impala before coming to rest. Fortunately, no one was injured. The investigation revealed that 18-year-old Ezequiel Garrido-Torres was driving while impaired. Mr. Garrido-Torres was cited for DUII – Controlled Substance, Recklessly Endangering Another Person and Reckless Driving. No booking photo is available at this time. Detectives Arrest VA Police Officer for Invasion of Privacy

  Douglas Co. Sheriff's Office   ROSEBURG, Ore.  - Detectives arrested a Roseburg man Thursday evening on charges of Invasion of Personal Privacy. On Thursday, October 22, 2020, the Sheriff's Office took a report that hidden cameras had been discovered in the bedroom of a minor female known to the suspect, 48-year-old Robert Wayne Roady of Roseburg. Detectives conducted interviews and executed a search warrant at Roady's residence in the 2000-block of Linnell Avenue. During the search warrant, detectives found evidence pertaining to the investigation. Roady, a Police Officer with the Roseburg Veteran's Administration, was contacted and interviewed by detectives at the Sheriff's Office. Roady admitted to placing the cameras in the room of a 14-year-old female for sexual purposes. DECADES-OLD SKULL IDENTIFIED AS BELONGING TO YOUNG WOMAN WHO DIED IN 1970S; DETECTIVES SEEK TIPS

  Clackamas Co. Sheriff's Office Please reference CCSO Case # 86-025724 In 1986, two U.S. Forest Service workers found a partial human skull near Government Camp, Oregon. Earlier this year, genetic and genealogical investigators finally identified the skull as belonging to 19-year-old  Wanda Ann Herr . Today, the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help as it resurrects a decades-old cold case -- and investigates Wanda's mysterious disappearance and death in the late 1970s. A mysterious skull The case began on Aug. 2, 1986. Two  Forest Service  workers discovered a partial skull, several bone fragments, and a single human tooth on Still Creek Road 2612 and Road 145, near Government Camp off Highway 26. Eleven days later, an  Oregon State Police  forensic examiner determined the skull likely belonged to a twentysomething woman or small man. He also estimated the skull had been in the woods approximately 10 years -- putting the subject's death

Attentive Deputies Discover Serious Injury Crash

Sheriff's Office TENMILE, Ore.  - Attentive Marine Deputies discovered a serious injury vehicle crash on Wednesday while on their way to patrol Ben Irving Reservoir.  Shortly before 10:45 am on Wednesday, October 21, 2020, a Marine Deputy and Cadet were driving to the boat ramp at Ben Irving Reservoir when the Marine Cadet observed a vehicle over a steep embankment near the water. Once they got out of their vehicle, a woman could be heard yelling for help.  The deputies made an immediate request for fire and medical to respond along with a steep angle rescue team.  The female, identified as 65 year-old Marie Scarlett Wise of Roseburg, was found to be outside of her vehicle conscious and breathing, but unable to move. Wise reported she had crashed two days before being discovered. However, deputies later learned that Wise left Bandon at 10:47 am on Tuesday, October 20, 2020.   Douglas Co. Sheriff's Office   GLIDE, Ore . - Two Glide women were awakened Wednesday morning to find an intruder in their home. They confronted the intruder who left before calling police.  Dispatchers received a call around 6:00 am on Wednesday, October 21, 2020 of an intruder inside of a home in the 1900-block of Glide Loop Drive. The caller stated she had woken up to find an unknown adult male in her kitchen. She and another adult female in the home confronted the male who left.  Deputies along with Oregon State Police Troopers responded and were able to identify the male from a photograph taken by the homeowner as 30-year-old Michael Lowell Gilligan of Medford.  While searching the area, deputies located Gilligan walking on North Umpqua Highway with a backpack. They observed him enter a vehicle owned by Glide School District and look through several compartments.   Gresham Police Dept Gresham, Ore.— Detectives took two additional Gresham juveniles into custody, 15 and 11-year-old brothers, for their alleged involvement in the assault and subsequent death of Tod Alan Barker.  This follows the arrest of a 16-year-old earlier in the week. The two older youth remain in custody and the 11-year-old has been released to his family.  Investigators believe they have contacted all involved parties and are not looking for any additional suspects.

  Crime Stoppers of Oregon   The Gresham Police Department, in partnership with Crime Stoppers of Oregon, is asking for the public's help to solve the homicide of Darryl Lewis. On October 14, 2020, Portland residents Darryl Antonio Lewis, age 34, and Daquon Dupree Warren, age 21, were victims of a shooting at the Arco Gas Station in the 18000 block of East Burnside Street. Lewis was shot once in the head and died as a result of the shooting. Warren was shot multiple times and is expected to recover from his injuries. The victims had just pulled up to a gas pump when a dark colored sedan stopped in the parking lot near them. An unidentified occupant of that car fired multiple rounds from a handgun, striking both men.   Gresham Police Dept   Gresham, Ore.— Police are currently searching for a missing 8-year-old.  According to neighbors,  Ruben Berrelleza  was last seen near his home in the area of SE 184th and Yamhill ST at around 8:30 am. The 8-year-old was apparently seeking a ride to his father’s home in the area of NE 102nd and Prescott ST.  Ruben is described as a Latino male, 4’5”, 60-80 lbs, black hair, brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a red t-shirt, black pants, red shoes, and carrying a black backpack with neon stripes.  If anyone has information as to the whereabouts of Ruben, call Gresham Police.   

Update: Juvenile Arrested in Downtown Gresham Homicide Investigation

  Gresham Police Dept   Gresham, Ore.— Detectives have arrested a 16-year-old boy from Gresham for his alleged involvement in the assault and subsequent death of Tod Alan Barker.  The youth is facing changes of Murder and Assault in the Second Degree, Robbery in the First Degree, and Unlawful Use of a Weapon.  The investigation into the possibility of additional suspects is ongoing. Barker, 53, was assaulted on the evening of Sept. 27 while walking in the 200 block of NE Roberts Ave.  Barker died on Oct. 9 from injuries sustained during the attack and the Multnomah County medical examiner ruled his death a homicide. No other information is available at this time.

Deputies, detectives bust California man, 53, who admitted to sex contact with local teen, possessed child porn; additional victims sought

Sheriff's Office At 3:30 p.m. on October 13, 2020, Clackamas County Sheriff's Office deputies were dispatched to investigate a suspicious circumstance near SE Thiessen Road and SE Webster Road in Oak Grove. The reporting party was a teenage girl who'd called  911 , concerned that her friend might be in distress. The reporting party's friend, a 17 year-old-girl, had arrived at a residence in unincorporated Clackamas County in a white truck driven by a 53-year-old man. The concerned caller's father went out to speak with the man driving the truck. The man claimed (falsely, as it turned out) to be the teen passenger's grandfather. The 17-year-old girl got out of the white truck and the truck left the scene before deputies arrived to investigate. Deputies soon spotted the white truck in the area and conducted a traffic stop. FATAL CRASH THURSDAY NIGHT, WILBUR WOMAN CHARGED WITH DUII AND MANSLAUGHTER

Sheriff's Office SUTHERLIN, Ore.  - A two-vehicle crash south of Sutherlin Thursday night has claimed the life of a Roseburg man.  On Thursday, October 15, 2020, shortly before 8:00 PM, 9-1-1 dispatchers received a report of a two-vehicle crash which occurred on Highway 99 North near Deady Crossing outside of Sutherlin.  Deputies responded and determined a 2007 Chevy Trailblazer, operated by 29-year-old Breanna Marie Adkins of Wilbur, drove into the path of an oncoming 2011 Subaru WRX, operated by 33-year-old Carlos Alberto Rivas of Roseburg. Rivas was pronounced deceased at the scene.   Detectives with the Sheriff's Office as well as members of the Sheriff's Office Crash Reconstruction Team responded and took over the investigation.  Adkins was transported to Mercy Medical Center where she received treatment for her non-life-threatening injuries. Police Seek Information in Homicide Investigation

  Gresham Police Dept   Gresham, Ore.— Police are asking the public to provide information about an assault that occurred in downtown Gresham in late September, which ultimately resulted in the death of a 53-year-old Gresham resident. Evidence suggests Tod Alan Barker was assaulted by a person(s) on the evening of Sept. 27, while walking in the 200 block of NE Roberts Ave.  It is believed Barker likely did not know his attacker(s).  Barker died on Oct. 9 from injuries sustained during the attack and the Multnomah County medical examiner ruled his death a homicide. Investigators want to talk with anyone who saw or heard anything regarding this incident and are asking witnesses to call the Gresham Police tip line at 503.618.2719. No other information is available at this time.

FATAL CRASH ON INTERSTATE 5 - WASHINGTON COUNTY

  Oregon State Police On Monday, October 12, 2020 at approximately 8:01 P.M., Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a vehicle crash on I5 near milepost 290. Preliminary investigation revealed that a Freightliner semi-truck, operated by Gurkirat Singh (35) of Fremont, CA. was northbound on I5 when it struck Eric Laursen (47) of Tualatin who was walking across the northbound lanes. Laursen sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased. OSP was assisted by Washington County Sheriff's Office, Hillsboro Police Department , Tualatin Police Department, Metro West Ambulance, and ODOT.  

Suspect in September Shooting Arrested

  Lane Co. Sheriff's Office   On September 15, 2020 at 10:20 p.m. the Lane County Sheriff's Office received a report of a man with a gunshot wound at the 81000 block of Davisson Road in Creswell. Deputies arrived and located the victim, a 59 year old male from Springfield, outside of a residence bleeding profusely. Deputies provided first aid on scene to slow the bleeding until medics arrived. The victim was transported by ambulance to receive medical attention for multiple wounds sustained from a gunshot.  Detectives investigating the case identified 40 year old Wesley Fredrick Roy Jr. as a suspect in the shooting.  Roy was also a suspect in multiple unrelated cases involving felony crimes. Douglas Interagency Narcotics Team (DINT) Over the course of the past several months, DINT has been investigating the activities of an interstate drug trafficking organization that has been having a big impact on our local community, as well as other surrounding communities.  Detectives suspect the organization of trafficking large amounts of methamphetamine and heroin from southern California to Douglas County.   As a part of that investigation, on Sunday, October 11th, 2020, at approximately 1:30 PM, DINT detectives and Douglas County Sheriff's Office deputies initiated a traffic stop on a 2020 Nissan Altima on Interstate 5 at milepost 85 near Glendale, Oregon.  The vehicle was occupied by 54 year old Michael Panoosi, 34 year old Jack Lewis, and 44 year old Michael Housel, all from the greater Los Angeles area of southern California.     DINT detectives executed a search warrant on the vehicle and located approximately 46.5 pounds of suspected methamphetamine, 1.4 pounds of suspe

Sheriff's Office On October 10, 2020 at 8:36 PM, Deputies from the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the 2400 block of Pleasant Valley Road for a single vehicle, rollover  crash.   Upon investigation, Deputies found the driver, 30-year-old Luke Henry Pierce Jr. had been ejected and died at the scene.  There were two additional passengers in the vehicle. One was pinned inside and had to be extricated by Rural Metro Fire.  The other was able to climb out on their own.  The pinned passenger was transported by AMR to Three Rivers Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.   The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
