GRESHAM SEARCHING FOR MISSING 13-YEAR-OLD

Gresham Police Dept Gresham, Ore.—  Missing 13-year-old. Amar Deweese has been located and returned to NAFY. The Gresham Police Department thanks everyone who helped look for him. Gresham, Ore.— Gresham Police is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a missing  13-year-old. Amar Deweese was last seen at NAFY, 470 SE 165th Ave, at 8:20 a.m., on Friday, April 29. Amar sometimes uses the last name Nylan. He is not known to be suicidal or have any diagnosed mental health issues. He is familiar with TriMet and has been staying at NAFY, due to concerns of  defiant behavior towards his father. Amar is described as a Black male who is approximately 5-feet tall and weighs 160 pounds. He has short black hair and was last seen wearing a white Nike vest, and black pants and white shoes. He has two backpacks he took with him. He does not take any medications. He does not have a cell phone. Multnomah Co. Sheriff's Office The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) is seeking information related to a suspicious death in the area of Ainsworth State Park in east Multnomah County. The body of Charity Lynn Perry of Longview, Washington was found on April 24, 2023, at approximately 1:35 p.m., in a culvert near E Historic Columbia River Highway and NE Tumalt Road. The last known area that Perry was known to frequent was downtown Portland, around SW Washington Street and SW 4th Avenue, at the beginning of March. FATAL CRASH - HWY-569 - LANE COUNTY

Oregon State Police On Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at approximately 6:03 P.M., the Oregon State Police responded to a single vehicle crash on Hwy-569, near milepost 6.5, in Lane County.   The preliminary investigation indicated a Harley Davidson motorcycle, operated by Harlin Adair Grondsdahl (63) of Veneta, was merging onto the westbound lanes of Hwy-569 from Hwy 99, when it sideswiped the guardrail.  The operator was thrown against the guardrail and support posts during the crash.   Emergency medical aid was provided by other motorists and first responders, however the operator was declared deceased at the scene.   The on-ramp was impacted for approximately 3.5 hours during the on-scene investigation.     OSP was assisted by the Lane County Sheriff's Office, the Lane Fire Authority, and ODOT. Local Child Exploitation Task Force Investigation Leads to 75-Year Prison Sentence for Illinois Man

Sheriff's Office   BENTON, Ill. – A U.S. District Court judge sentenced an Illinois man to 75 years in federal prison April 17 after he was found guilty of conducting a sextortion scheme on Facebook with multiple victims ranging in ages from 11 to 17 years old.   Michael A. Ferris, 44, of Mill Shoals, Illinois, was convicted by a jury in November 2022 on 25 felony counts of extortion, cyberstalking, and production, distribution, and possession of child pornography. Following his 75-year prison sentence, he will serve the rest of his life on supervised release.   Southern Oregon Child Exploitation Team (SOCET) began the investigation after receiving a report from a local child victim. Through further investigations, SOCET discovered 29 child victims throughout the United States and Canada. On April 24, officers discovered and seized a large quantity of dangerous fentanyl powder and pills, cash proceeds from drug sales, and illegally possessed weapons. Officers in our department are working tirelessly to deter crime in our city. The following highlights the critical work our department undertakes each and every day.   At about 3:30p.m., officers assigned to patrol responded to a disturbance in the 900 block of northeast Hood Ave., on a report that a maintenance employee in an apartment complex was threatened by a juvenile male with a gun. Officers arrived and attempted to stop 3 males they determined to be involved in the disturbance based on the description provided by the victim. U.S. Attorney's Office - District of Oregon PORTLAND, Ore.—A suspected drug trafficker faces federal charges after he was caught transporting dozens of pounds of powdered fentanyl, methamphetamine, and other illegal drugs on Interstate 5 near Salem, Oregon. Miguel Cruz-Barrales, 22, whose place of residence is unknown, has been charged by criminal complaint with possessing with intent to distribute fentanyl and methamphetamine. According to court documents, on April 23, 2023, an Oregon State Police (OSP) trooper initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Barrales on Interstate 5 south of Salem. The trooper’s canine alerted to two duffle bags located in the trunk of the vehicle that contained numerous packages suspected to contain powdered fentanyl, methamphetamine, and other illegal drugs. U.S. Attorney's Office - District of Oregon PORTLAND, Ore.—An Arizona man is facing federal charges after he was caught transporting 100,000 counterfeit oxycodone pills containing fentanyl, two pounds of powdered fentanyl, and six pounds of cocaine on Interstate 84 in La Grande, Oregon. Moises Rojo Velazquez, 36, of Phoenix, Arizona, has been charged by criminal complaint with possessing with intent to distribute fentanyl. According to court documents, on April 21, 2023, an Oregon State Police (OSP) trooper initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Rojo Velazquez on Interstate 84 westbound in La Grande. The vehicle was occupied by Rojo Velazquez, a passenger, and the passenger’s 17-year-old daughter. A second trooper located a large camo bag on the rear floorboard of the vehicle. Oregon State Police On April 21, 2023, at approximately 6:37 am, a Trooper from the La Grande Area Command stopped a vehicle traveling westbound on Interstate 84 near La Grande, Oregon.  While on the stop, the Trooper observed signs of criminal activity.  A search of the vehicle was conducted which led to the seizure of approximately 100,000 Fentanyl pills, 3 Kilograms of Heroin and 1 Kilogram of Fentanyl Powder.   This case is being investigated jointly by the Oregon State Police and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO SEIZURE OF 86 POUNDS OF POWDERED FENTANYL AND METHAMPHETAMINE - MARION COUNTY

Oregon State Police On April 23, 2023, at about 9:15 a.m., An OSP Trooper out of the Salem Area Command stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation.  While on the stop, the Trooper observed signs of criminal activity and subsequently asked for consent to search the vehicle.  The driver denied consent but admitted to importing marijuana from California.  OSP K-9 Titan was deployed and alerted to a large duffel bag in the trunk.  An additional search of the vehicle revealed a large amount of various controlled substances.   51 lbs. of suspected Methamphetamine 31 lbs. of suspected powder fentanyl 9 lbs. of suspected cocaine 2 lbs. of suspected heroin Both occupants of the vehicle were detained, interviewed, and charged with federal drug charges and lodged at the Multnomah County Jail. This case is being investigated jointly by the Oregon State Police and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and OSP. It is being prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Oregon.

ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECT TAKEN INTO CUSTODY

Sheriff's Office On Sunday, 04/23/2023, at approximately 1:00pm, Lane County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the report of an armed robbery at a local coffee business in the 35000blk of Hwy. 58 in Pleasant Hill. An employee reported that a male pointed a handgun directly at her and demanded that she give him all of the cash inside of the register.  The male then departed the location in an unknown direction with an undisclosed amount of cash. Deputies reviewed surveillance video and were able to see that the male left in an older model purple Ford Taurus. This vehicle and its occupants had also been spotted earlier in the day behaving suspiciously at another area business.  The involved vehicle was observed driving on Hwy. 99E by a Junction City police officer at about 2:30pm.  Deputies responded and contacted the occupants after they pulled into a driveway in the 95000blk of Hwy. 99E.  The occupants of the vehicle were detained without incident. Skeletal Remains Found in Rural Area, Detectives Investigating Suspicious Death

Jackson Co. Sheriff's Office SOUTHERN JACKSON COUNTY, Ore. – Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) detectives are investigating a suspicious death after skeletal remains were discovered April 14 in a remote area in a rural southern Jackson County. The suspicious nature of the scene led to JCSO detectives and medical examiners responding to investigate. The rugged terrain and remote area required JCSO Search and Rescue to assist in recovering the body. Due to the ongoing investigation, the exact location of the remains will not be released at this time.   A forensic pathologist conducted an autopsy and concluded the remains were most likely female. Investigators are working to identify the subject and the cause and manner of death. Due to the advanced stages of decomposition, state medical examiners will conduct further testing. An attempted break-in on East Bay Road ends with a man and woman’s arrest

Coos County Sheriff's Office On April 22 nd , 2023, at 7:00 p.m., the Coos County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center received a report of a man and woman attempting to break into a residence on East Bay Road near North Bend.  Deputies S. Starr and B. Davis responded to the area, where they observed a man and woman walking away from the reported address. Deputies contacted the pair, who were identified as Lanie N. Denton (26) and Tyler J. Harden (32), who both denied involvement and told deputies they were fishing in the area. During the investigation, Lanie and Tyler were seen attempting to break in and tamper with the property's surveillance cameras.  As a result of the investigation, Lanie N. Denton (26) and Tyler J. Harden (32) were both arrested on the charges of attempted burglary I and criminal trespass II. 15-YEAR-OLD PASSENGER IN CRITICAL CONDITION AFTER DUII CRASH, INVESTIGATORS SEEK WITNESSES

Marion Co. Sheriff's Office On Saturday evening, April 22, 2023, at approximately 10:50 p.m. a 911 caller reported a single-vehicle rollover crash on Lancaster Drive NE, north of Silverton Road NE. When emergency responders arrived, they located the driver and a 15-year-old passenger at the scene of the crash. A third occupant from the gray 2006 Mazda 6 is reported to have ran from the car before deputies arrived. The 15-year-old male passenger sustained life-threatening injuries in the crash and was taken to an area hospital by ambulance. The passenger is currently in critical condition. The driver of the Mazda, Fernando Guzman Guzman (20), was also transported to an area hospital for evaluation following the crash. Guzman Guzman was arrested for Driving While Under the Influence of Intoxicants and Assault in the 2 nd  Degree. DEPUTIES ASK FOR THE COMMUNITY'S HELP IN LOCATING ATTEMPTED MURDER SUSPECT

Washington Co. Sheriff's Office On Friday, April 21, 2023, at 6:15 p.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the 12700 block of NW Dogwood Street. Multiple community members called to report seeing a road rage incident and hearing gunshots.  Deputies arrived and contacted the victim, who had been shot once in her chest. Deputies began providing medical aid to the victim until paramedics from Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue and Metro West Ambulance Service could take over.  The victim was transported to a local hospital, where she was treated for her injuries and later released.  Detectives from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office Violent Crimes Unit responded to the scene to assist with the investigation.  Detectives learned that the suspect, 43-year-old Glen Alen Hornsby Jr. of Hillsboro, attempted to rob the victim and shot her once. GRANTS PASS VEHICLE THEFT SUSPECT RAMS CARS AND STOPS I-5 TRAFFIC BEFORE BEING ARRESTED

Grants Pass Police Department Grants Pass, Ore. – This morning at 9:10 am, a Grants Pass Police Officer spotted a stolen Dodge Truck and followed it to the area of NE Hillcrest Lane near NE Terrace Drive. When the driver of the stolen vehicle pulled into a residential driveway, the officer coordinated with other responding units to drive in behind the stolen truck to make the arrest. When the officers did so, they saw the suspect enter the driver’s seat of a white Acura and begin ramming vehicles, including the patrol cars, as officers blocked him in. The suspect left the vehicle behind and attempted to flee on foot. With the assistance of the Oregon State Police and the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office, Grants Pass Police quickly set up a perimeter around the neighborhood to capture the suspect. Washington Co. Sheriff's Office On Thursday, April 20, 2023, at 12:15 a.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to an apartment complex in the 18800 block of SW Farmington Road. Multiple community members called to report that they had heard a gunshot and saw a woman in the apartment complex that appeared to have been injured.  Deputies arrived and contacted the victim, who was outside an apartment and had been shot once in her leg. Deputies began providing medical aid to the victim until paramedics from Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue and Metro West Ambulance Service could take over.  The victim was transported to a local hospital, where she is being treated for her injuries. Detectives Investigating Rural Jacksonville Homicide, Suspect On-the-Run

Jackson County Sheriff's Office JCSO Case 23-2239 APPLEGATE, Ore. – Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) detectives are on-scene of a homicide that occurred early this morning in rural Jacksonville. Emergency Communications of Southern Oregon ECSO 911 dispatch received a call at 2:26 a.m. for a shooting at a residence in the 14000 block of Upper Applegate Road. JCSO deputies responded, discovered the scene was a homicide, and notified Criminal Investigations Division (CID) detectives and Medical Examiners. A primary suspect has been identified and is on-the-run. The victim identification is pending next-of-kin notification. The suspect, Michael Wayne Ray, 64, of Jacksonville, is described as a white male with blue eyes and grey hair, 5’9” tall, weighing 190 lbs. (pictured here). He is considered armed and dangerous. ODOT employee injured in work zone crash on U.S. 395 near Stanfield

STANFIELD, OR -- An ODOT employee was injured in a work zone  Wednesday  afternoon when a minivan crashed into the excavator he was unloading. The ODOT worker was transported to  Good S hepherd Medical Center in Hermiston  where he was treated for minor cuts and scrapes and released a short time later. The minivan was towed from the scene. The crash took place shortly after 1 p.m. on U.S. 395-A at milepost 9.8, north of Stanfield. At the time of the crash, the worker’s trailer truck, loaded with an excavator, was parked on the shoulder. The worker was unloading the excavator, preparing to do sign work, when a minivan traveling south hit the excavator. Oregon State Police, ODOT and other emergency responders assisted at the crash site. The crash is a harsh reminder for drivers to slow down, move over, and be extra vigilant around work zones. WOMAN'S BODY RECOVERED FROM HAGG LAKE

Sheriff's Office On Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at 2:17 p.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of a vehicle driving into Henry Hagg Lake near Boat Ramp A. When deputies arrived, they were told by multiple witnesses that they saw a person in a small pickup truck drive into the lake and sink underwater. The Sheriff’s Office Marine Patrol, Remotely Operated Vehicle Team (ROVT), and Gaston Fire and Rescue responded to the lake and were able to locate the vehicle. The Lake Oswego Fire and Rescue Dive Team also responded and assisted with removing the vehicle from the lake. Once removed, deputies found the person in the vehicle deceased. The deceased was identified as 71-year-old Janine Vuylsteke of Forest Grove and her family has been notified.  Members of the Sheriff’s Office Crash Analysis Reconstruction Team (CART) and the Washington County Medical Examiner’s Office arrived to assist. Medford Police Report Staggering Rise in Potential Overdose Deaths

Medford Police Dept.   Since the start of 2023, the Medford Police Department (MPD) has seen a staggering number of suspected overdose deaths within the Medford area. The Medford Area Drug and Gang Enforcement (MADGE) Team are actively working cases to combat current drug issues by putting an incredible amount of time and resources into fentanyl related cases.  As previously mentioned by MPD , MADGE has seen the presence of xylazine (a central nervous system depressant) in recent fentanyl seizures.  “Fentanyl and xylazine are being found in everything right now,” said MADGE Sergeant Josh Reimer, referencing other drug seizures such as cocaine, methamphetamine or counterfeit opiate pills.  In March 2023, MPD responded to a total of 13 suspected overdose deaths within the City of Medford. FATAL CRASH - HWY 30 - CLATSOP COUNTY

Oregon State Police On Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at approximately 1:17 P.M., the Oregon State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on Hwy-30, near milepost 76, in Clatsop County.   The preliminary investigation revealed a westbound tan Kia Rio sedan, operated by Claudia Elizabeth Bell (22) of Oregon City, lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a curve during inclement weather. The Kia Rio turned sideways in an uncontrolled slide, completely entering the eastbound lanes where it was struck in the passenger side by an eastbound red Kenworth log truck, operated by Dominic Enzo Rizzo (22) of Astoria.    The operator of the Kia, Claudia Bell, and her passenger, identified as Monelle Jun Lumapas (19) of Portland, were found deceased at the scene.    The operator of the log truck (Rizzo) was transported by ambulance for suspected injuries but was determined to be uninjured. Rizzo fully cooperated with law enforcement during the investigation.     A diesel leak was identified by incid

PRESS RELEASE ON BEHALF OF MALHEUR COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY: ON-DUTY OFFICER KILLED- MALHEUR COUNTY

Oregon State Police On Monday, April 17, 2023, investigators, with the use of law enforcement resources, located Rene Castro (36) at a residence in Ontario, Malheur County, Oregon.  The Oregon State Police SWAT team, along with members of the FBI, Ontario Police Department, Malheur County Sheriff’s Office, and other agencies, surrounded a residence in Ontario at approximately 6:40 A.M. and began calling occupants from the home.  At approximately 7:40 A.M., Rene Castro exited a structure and was taken into custody by OSP SWAT personnel.  Neither Castro nor SWAT personnel were injured during his arrest. We want to thank the team of investigators who have been working tirelessly for the past 36 hours to locate and arrest Castro.  While the arrest has been made, the investigators are still processing evidence and continuing their work.
