Coos Bay Man Arrested For Assault And Unlawful Use Of A Weapon

Coos County Sheriff's Office On February 28, 2023 at 9:00 p.m. the Coos County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch center received a report of an assault which had occurred on Robertson Lane, near Barview. Deputy Z. Smith from the Sheriff’s Office responded to the location and contacted the victim.  During the course of the investigation it was learned the victim was, “Pistol whipped,” by the suspect who was identified as Daniel Lauby (41) years of age of Coos Bay. After speaking with the victim Deputy Z. Smith placed out an attempt to locate (ATL) for Mr. Lauby on the charges of assault II, and unlawful use of a weapon.  Officers from the Coos Bay Police Department along with the Oregon State Police assisted in searching for Mr. Lauby in the Coos Bay area. Deputy Z. Smith ultimately located Mr. Lauby back at the residence on Robertson Lane. Mr. Lauby briefly attempted to flee from Deputy Smith before he was taken into custody. D D aniel T. SAR Snow Cat Rescues Missing Women

Jackson County Sheriff's Office   JCSO Case 23-1167   JACKSON COUNTY, Ore. – Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) Search and Rescue (SAR) Snow Cat located two missing women this afternoon after they were stranded in deep snow overnight. The women became stuck in snow while attempting to drive around the I-5 closure. Their phone GPS routed them onto an unmaintained road. JCSO deputies and SAR personnel searched for them all night and into this morning before they were located this afternoon 14-miles up West Fork Evans Creek Road in the Elderberry Flats area. The women made the right decision by staying with their vehicle until they were rescued. Overall, around 20 SAR volunteers searched for the women with four-wheel-drive vehicles and the Snow Cat. Overnight Search Continues for Two Missing Women, Last Seen in Shady Cove

Jackson County Sheriff's Office JCSO Case 23-1167 SHADY COVE, Ore. – Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) is actively searching for two women from Eugene missing out of Shady Cove last night. JCSO deputies searched all night in deep snow, checking multiple travel routes from Jackson County to Eugene before initiating a Search and Rescue (SAR) callout early this morning. Right now, multiple SAR vehicle search teams are out looking with JCSO deputies and family members of the missing women. Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is assisting with the search efforts. The missing women left Shady Cove last night at 5:20 p.m. in a grey 2010 Volkswagen Jetta, Oregon license plate number 613HQJ. Missing is Taylor Marie Lange, 21, of Eugene, described as 5’8” tall, weighing 140 lbs., with brown hair and brown eyes. OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING INVESTIGATION

Sheriff's Office ROSEBURG, Ore. –  A disturbance at the Roseburg Senior Center, which was being utilized as a temporary warming center for the night, resulted in an officer involved shooting early Tuesday morning.  On Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at 12:45 a.m., 9-1-1 dispatchers received multiple reports of a disturbance at the Roseburg Senior Center where several individuals had been stabbed by a male who was utilizing the warming center. Officers from the Roseburg Police Department responded to the scene. A male suspect, whose identity is being withheld at this time, refused to comply with officer’s directives and attempts to de-escalate the situation and the use of non-lethal levels of force. Ultimately, an officer utilized lethal force against the subject who died at the scene despite lifesaving efforts.  The involved officer has been placed on paid administrative leave in keeping with the involved agency’s policy. Seeking the public’s help locating a missing and endangered man

Eugene Police Department   Eugene Police has taken a report of a missing, endangered man and is seeking the public’s help in locating him.    At 6 p.m. on February 26, Douglas Arthur Carney, age 70, left his home at Avamere Riverpark, at 425 Alexander Loop. He left on his manual wheelchair without his medicine and has not been seen since that time. Carney requires several medications and without them will quickly decline. Although he is confined to a wheelchair, he can walk very short distances.     Carney is white,  5'05" tall and weighing 210 pounds. He has brown/grey long and thin/wispy hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a maroon sweater, green camo print pants.    He so far appears to be in the Eugene area, perhaps near Clark and Van Buren.  Carney has a history of visiting a location in the 1000 block of City view, as well as destinations in Creswell and Roseburg.    If anyone locates Carney they are asked to call 911. PROLIFIC IDENTITY THEFT SUSPECT WANTED, VICTIMS URGED TO FILE A POLICE REPORT

Multnomah Co. Sheriff's Office Multnomah County Sheriff's Office detectives are seeking the public's help in locating 31-year-old Justin Ray Jones, who's wanted for a string of identity theft crimes, impacting people in Oregon and across the country. Detectives believe Jones is actively attempting to commit additional fraud, identity theft and forgery crimes. Additionally, Jones is currently wanted for identity theft and related crimes, and absconding from parole. Jones is known to frequent the Woodstock, Mt. Scott and Lents neighborhoods of Portland. Jones is using multiple aliases and fraudulent identifications. To help the public identify Jones, a booking photo from 2021, is attached to the news release. Currently, there are approximately three dozen victims, but detectives believe the number is likely higher. DESCHUTES COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE STREET CRIMES UNIT ARREST TWO AS A RESULT OF FENTANYL INVESTIGATION

Deschutes Co. Sheriff's Office On Saturday February 25th, 2023, the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office Street Crimes Unit (SCU) conducted a short-term investigation into Jose Miguel Gomez for the distribution of fentanyl and methamphetamine in Deschutes County. Utilizing various investigative means, detectives learned Gomez was distributing fentanyl and methamphetamine on Hunnell Road, Bend, Oregon. SCU Detectives conducted a large-scale surveillance operation and were able to identify a vehicle Gomez was travelling in as he was returning from the Vancouver, WA area. Investigators applied for and were granted a search warrant for the vehicle. A traffic stop was conducted by the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office and the warrant was executed. During the execution of the search warrant on the vehicle, investigators located a commercial quantity of suspected fentanyl pills, suspected fentanyl powder, and methamphetamine in a hidden compartment inside the vehicle. CORVALLIS MAN IN CUSTODY AFTER SUSPICIOUS DEATH INVESTIGATION OF INFANT DAUGHTER

Sheriff's Office CORVALLIS, Ore.  – On Sunday, February 26, 2023, at approximately 3:00 pm, Benton County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) deputies responded to the 1700 block of NE Conifer Blvd, Corvallis, for a call of an unconscious two-month-old female. Medics transported the baby immediately to the Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis where the infant was pronounced deceased. After an initial investigation, BCSO detectives arrested the 27-year-old father, Andrew Levi Oaks, for Criminal Mistreatment in the first degree. An autopsy later this week will determine additional charges. Oaks is currently lodged at the Benton County Jail where he is scheduled for an arraignment hearing this afternoon, February 27, 2023. DOUBLE FATAL CRASH - HWY 26 - CLACKAMAS COUNTY

Oregon State Police On Saturday, February 25, 2023, at approximately 3:40 P.M., the Oregon State Police responded to a two vehicle crash on Hwy 26, near milepost 59, in Clackamas County. The preliminary investigation indicated a Subaru Outback, operated by Althea Spahn (26) of Beaverton, was westbound on Hwy 26 with 4 passengers. The Subaru lost control, spun out, crossed into the eastbound lane, and was struck by an oncoming ODOT snowplow, operated by Jessie White (29) of Troutdale.  Two passengers of the Subaru, Lillian Alma Spahn (24) of Portland and Micah Paul Strauss (28) of Portland, were pronounced deceased at the scene.  The three surviving occupants of the Subaru and the operator of the ODOT snowplow were transported to local hospitals for medical treatment. The roadway was closed for approximately 6 hours while the on-scene investigation was conducted.  Poor road conditions have been determined to be a significant contributor to this crash. UTILITY WORKER ARRESTED FOR DUII, HIT AND RUN

Sheriff's Office On Saturday, February 25, 2023, at 9:27 p.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a reported hit and run at NW Glencoe Road and NW Zion Church Road in unincorporated Washington County. It was reported that utility lines were down after a large white utility truck crashed into a utility pole. The caller stated that the suspect vehicle fled and was last seen driving westbound on NW Zion Church Road.  When deputies arrived, they found a utility pole sheared off and utility lines across the roadway. Deputies located a fluid trail that the suspect vehicle had left, and they began following it. At 9:58 p.m., deputies responded to a crash at SW Patton Valley Road and SW Dundee Road. The fluid trail that the deputy was following led straight to this location. When deputies arrived, they located a Portland General Electric (PGE) utility truck on its side in a ditch. Coos County Sheriff's Office On February 25th, 2023 at 1:46 p.m. the Coos County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center received a report of an assault which occurred at China Flats Campground near Powers, Oregon the night prior. Deputy Freerkesn was tasked with investigating the incident.   As a result of the investigation the Coos County Sheriff’s Office has issued probable cause (PC) arrest for Travis Baker (41) years of age from Powers, Oregon on the charges of  assault IV domestic, menacing,  and strangulation. FATAL TRAFFIC CRASH THURSDAY

Douglas Co. Sheriff's Office WINSTON, Ore. -  An 18-year-old Roseburg man died Thursday morning following a single vehicle traffic crash.  On Thursday, February 23, 2023, shortly before 8:00 am, 9-1-1 were notified of a vehicle in the river following a vehicle crash near Brockway Road and Willis Creek Road.  The Sheriff's Office responded to find a 2003 Toyota Tacoma pickup which had gone through a bridge railing and fallen approximately 30 feet below into the river landing on its top. With the assistance of swift water rescue crews and Bill's Towing, the vehicle was recovered. The driver of the pickup, 18-year-old Roseburg resident Austin Luke Cross of Roseburg, was located inside and was declared deceased at the scene.  Investigators have determined that Cross was traveling westbound on Brockway Road when he lost control of the vehicle on the icy roadway. OREGON CITY POLICE DEPARTMENT INVESTIGATING HOMICIDE

Oregon City Police Dept. Coos County Sheriff's Office In early February 2023 Sgt. Boswell from the Coos County Sheriff’s Office received information about a large illegal indoor marijuana grow. Sgt. Boswell diligently worked the investigation over several weeks with Sgt. Whittenburg from the South Coast Interagency Narcotics Team (S.C.I.N.T.) On February 23 rd , 2023 at 10:00 a.m. S.C.I.N.T, Sgt. Oregon State Police On October 1, 2022, the opening day of the rifle deer season, deer hunters contacted Oregon State Troopers to advise they had located a deceased bull elk. The bull elk was located on private timber company lands off Kingsbury Lane north of Elgin, Oregon in the Wenaha Wildlife Management Unit. Fish and Wildlife Troopers responded to the scene and determined the bull elk had been shot from Kingsbury Lane with a rifle and had been left to waste. The elk had been shot a couple of days prior and no part of the elk had been removed or any attempt to salvage the meat had been taken.  With the public's assistance, Troopers developed a suspect in the case.  Cody Murrill, (42) of Elgin, Oregon, was interviewed, cited, and released to appear in court for criminal charges of Unlawful Take of a Branch Antlered Bull Elk and Waste of Wildlife.  On January 20, 2023, Cody Murrill appeared in the Union County Circuit Court and plead guilty to the charges.  He was sentenced to 10

DETECTIVES INVESTIGATE FOUND HUMAN REMAINS

Douglas Co. Sheriff's Office GLIDE, Ore.  – A Glide teen located human remains in the forest south east of Glide last week.  On Thursday, February 16, 2023, the Sheriff’s Office was notified by a caller that his son, who had been antler shed hunting, located what were believed to be human remains in the Thunder Mountain area of Glide.  Deputies located the area described and confirmed the presence of skeletal human remains. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division and Medical Examiner were notified and have been investigating the death since the discovery. Investigators have withheld a public statement about the discovery to collect evidence at the location, conduct follow up and to protect the integrity of the investigation. Working in partnership with the Oregon State Medical Examiner’s Office, positive identification of the remains is currently being conducted. This is making it challenging to be able to respond to 911 calls. SHERIFF'S OFFICE LOOKING FOR HELP IN IDENTIFYING DECEASED FEMALE FOUND IN A JEFFERSON FIELD

Marion Co. Sheriff's Office On February 21, 2023, about 4:45pm, deputies from the Sheriff’s Office Enforcement Division, Jefferson Contract, along with detectives from the Criminal Investigations Unit responded to a report of a citizen finding a female, deceased, in a field at the dead-end of Tenth Street in Jefferson, Oregon. The Marion County Medical Examiner’s Office responded to assist. Today, an autopsy was performed by the State Medical Examiner and the death has been determined to be natural causes. The female found, was a white female, unknown age, 5’3 ½”, 128 pounds, wearing a red tank top, camo colored long sleeve shirt, Green sweatshirt, green sweatpants, and black tennis shoes. She was described as having a brooch attached to the green sweatshirt in the left chest area with a white pearl-looking piece in the middle of it.
