The Roseburg Police Department is serious about seatbelts

Roseburg Police Dept. - 05/07/18

Officers will be out on extra patrols thanks to a generous grant from the Oregon Department of Transportation.  “We will be sending officers out on shifts focusing on enforcing seatbelt and related violations in order to save lives.  This effort is a partnership between ODOT and the national click it or ticket campaign” said Sergeant Dennis Chrisenbery.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, seat belts saved an estimated 14,668 lives and could have saved an additional 2,456 lives in 2016. Police are urging drivers to secure their children in an appropriate child restraint system, make sure they buckle up themselves and never allow minors to ride in the back of trucks.  The Roseburg Police Department began the high visibility enforcement campaign in April and the effort will continue for several months.
