Single vehicle fatal crash Hwy 126W near Walton

On Friday June 1, 2018 at approximately 7:52 PM, Oregon State Troopers, Lane County Deputies, and emergency personnel responded to a single vehicle crash on HWY 126W near milepost 33, just west of Walton in Lane County.
Preliminary investigation revealed that a white 2004 Nissan Frontier pickup, operated by Steven MAXWELL, age 64, of Yachats was traveling west on HWY 126W when for unknown reasons drifted off the roadway and crashed into a stump.
MAXWELL suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene.
OSP Troopers were assisted by Lane County Sheriff’s Office, ODOT, and Lane County Fire and EMS personnel.
The westbound lane of HWY 126W was shut down for approximately 4 hours.
