UPDATE: Victim in Friday Morning Death Investigation Identified

Detectives continue a death investigation that began on Friday, Jun 8, 2018, in the 10900 block of Northeast Marx Street.
 


The deceased person, has been identified as 69-year-old Kenneth J. Okazaki, of Portland. The Oregon State Medical Examiner's Office continues to investigate the cause of death and has not determined the cause of death at this time.

On Friday, June 8, 2018, at 1:03 a.m., North Precinct officers responded to the 10900 block of Northeast Marx Street on the report that someone had located a deceased person inside a residence.

Officers arrived at the scene and located a deceased adult male inside the residence. A member with the State Medical Examiner's Office responded, and based on initial information, determined the death was suspicious in nature.

Detectives with the Portland Police Bureau Detective Division's Homicide Detail have responded to take over this investigation. Criminalists with the Forensic Evidence Division have also responded to assist with this investigation.

The Portland Police Bureau's Public Information Officer (PIO) is responding to the scene and plans to arrive within the next hour. Any interested media should respond to the intersection of Northeast 109th Avenue and Northeast Marx Street for a briefing.
