Hillsboro Fire Extinguishes Commercial Blaze

Hillsboro Fire and Rescue - 07/22/18 


Hillsboro Fire crews responded to a commercial fire in the 300 block of SE Baseline Street at 2138 this afternoon. An engine from the downtown Hillsboro station arrived within minutes of the dispatch and found heavy fire coming from a laundramat and extending into an overhead soffit extending Around much of the building.  In addition to the laundromat the building was also occupied by a dry cleaners, and two other small businesses. The first arriving crew upgraded the fire to a first alarm bringing the needed resources to the scene to control the fire. The arriving Battalion Chief areived assumes command and requested a 2nd alarm to ensure personnel needs were met. 
Seeing another day of high temperatures the additional resources and personnel requested were used to rotate out the initial response crews. One firefighter was treated by on scene paramedics and released after evaluation. 
Due to the aggressive actions of firefighters the fire was under control within an hour of unita first arriving. However, a crew will remain on scene to extinguish hotspots and assist a Hillsboro Fire Investigator in determining the cause of the fire. Hillsboro Fire was assisted by crews from the Cornelius Fire Department and Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue.
