Single vehicle fatal crash Hwy 58 near Oakridge - Lane County

On July 5, 2018 at approximately 12:05 PM Oregon State Police Troopers from the Springfield Area Command and emergency personnel responded to a single vehicle crash on Hwy 58 near milepost 32.
Preliminary investigation is Robert BIELER, age 81 of Lapine, was traveling east on Hwy 58 near milepost 32 when for an unknown reason failed to negotiate a slight left hand curve. The vehicle he was operating, a 2006 (GMC) St. Vincent De Paul delivery truck traveled off the highway down an embankment, across a side road before colliding into a large oak tree.
Bieler was pronounced deceased at the scene.
OSP was assisted by Oakridge Fire and ODOT.
