Motor Vehicle Crash Closes Southbound Parkway

Bend Police Dept. - 08/11/18

On August 11, at 1:30 am officers with the Bend Police Department, Deschutes County Sheriff's Office, the Oregon State Police and the Bend Fire and Rescue responded to the area of the southbound Parkway near Revere Street for the report of a motor vehicle crash. Initial information included the crash was a head on collision between a passenger car and a tractor-trailer truck.
During the investigation, officers learned Hannah Baker was driving a Saturn Vue passenger car. Baker was traveling north on the Parkway in the southbound lane when she collided with a semi truck operated by Jaspreet Singh.  Singh was able to swerve to avoid a head-on collision with Baker but his truck was still struck and disabled by Baker's vehicle.

Both drivers were evaluated at the scene by paramedics and neither required further medical attention.  Both lanes of the southbound parkway were closed for approximately an hour and a half during the investigation.
Baker was arrested for Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants, Reckless Driving, and Reckless Endangering and transported to the Deschutes County Jail.
