Natural Cover Fire - Reservoir Hill 8-6-18

Roseburg Fire Department - 08/06/18

At 5:25 p.m. on August 8, 2018, Roseburg Fire Department was dispatched to natural cover fire at NE Bellview Court at Stephens Street.  It was reported as a brush fire at the base of Reservoir Hill.

Firefighters arrived on scene to find a three acre, fast moving grass fire on Reservoir Hill.  Firefighters from the Roseburg Fire Department, Douglas Forest Protective Association, and Douglas County Fire District #2 quickly extinguished the fire, halting the spread to nearby structures located at the top of the hill and limiting the area of the burn to approximately four acres.

Fire investigators were on scene and the cause of the fire is still under investigation. Firefighters will remain on scene for the remainder of the evening completing overhaul.  The Roseburg Fire Department would like to remind everyone that higher temperatures are expected later this week and fire danger is still extremely high.  Please remember, even a small campfire can quickly get out of control.
